How socialism really works..

It provides:

Public schools,
Police,
Public works, water, sewage systems.
Roads streets highways
unemployment office,
Library
Fire departments
Internet,

the list is long shall I go on or do you by now understand we are living socialism...

tasmlab's picture

Just to clarify

All of these services are town level services, with the exception of unemployment office. Even a practical anarchist might collaborate with their neighbors to purchase these services together, and may even add their garbage collection and even a swim club and tennis pro.

It's the standing army, the interstate wars, the economic fascism/corporatism, the healthcare, the retirement planning, the currency manipulation that gasses me about our socialism.

Update bump: Young and restless in Spain

Young and restless in Spain as jobless rate soars
Young Spaniards facing sky-high jobless rate scream out for better future

Daniel Woolls, On Friday May 27, 2011, 12:53 pm EDT

MADRID (AP) -- The first thing Silvia Huelves was told when she started studying architecture was that she should take up Chinese or Japanese -- she was not going to build anything in Spain any time soon.

It wasn't criticism of her skills but a reflection on the state of the country, where the jobless rate among 16- to 24-year-olds is a staggering 45 percent and a construction sector slump caused nearly two years of recession.

Funny that the Spanish

Funny that the Spanish already have the Socialists operating the government now. And now they was even more socialism?

more socialism??

How do you figure that?

They want more employment!

Arent they taxed within an inch of their lives?!?!?!?

If so, then they're ABSOLUTELY NOT asking for more socialism.
they're asking . . . for THEIR FREAKING MONEY!!!!!

Why do people say this?
Oh social security is a government handout.
Spain wants more welfare and socialism

Its the peoples freakin money!! What dont you get??
When a government taxes folks higher and higher and higher and then doesnt deliver, WHERE praytell should they seek compensation?

tax

Why aren't they asking to stop being taxed?

They don't "operate" very much.

Since they are merely pawns for the EU, UN, the IMF and various special interest groups anyway. They just do as their told once elected. It doesn't really matter anymore wheter you choose the red or the blue puppet into office.

The politicians do not "represent" the people, that's the whole problem with our societies today!

How socialism works

Professor gives out socialist grades

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student, but had once failed an entire class.

The students insisted that socialism worked since no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism."

"All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A."

After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who had studied hard were upset while the students who had studied very little were happy.

But, as the second test rolled around, the students who had studied little studied even less and the ones who had studied hard decided that since they couldn't make an A, they also studied less. The second Test average was a D.

No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average grade was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling, all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for anyone else.

This has all the earmarks of

This has all the earmarks of a modern day fable. It likely never happened and is used to make a point. I don't like fables because real world examples are far more powerful and don't rely on the storybook simplicity that fables provide.

incentives

Yes, it's a fable, but it illustrates how incentive structures lead people to make different decisions.

Spain protests = ignorant socialists

From CNN:

Protests against Spain's economic crisis took a new turn Wednesday as social media networks fueled calls for demonstrators to take to the streets before local elections a few days away.

For the past few years, as Spain's rate of unemployment remained tenaciously high, most of the protests were organized by major trade unions.

If the people want jobs and they don't like the austerity measures, why are they complaining to government? Government doesn't create jobs and government has no money (except for the money it steals from others).

These socialists are ignorant of basic economics. They are complaining to the people who created this problem. Elections will change nothing.

Bastiat: "Government is the great fiction through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else."

I agree 100%. Supporting

I agree 100%.

Supporting protesting for the sake of protesting is idiotic, if the protesting people are driven by worse solutions or non-solutions.

so only people

who are smart and have good solutions can protest??

don't listen to Reuters and

don't listen to Reuters and CNN...they are not beaten up by Police cause they ask for more of the same.

Oh? so what do they really

Oh? so what do they really want?

What they shouldn't want

They should understand what they are asking; Some history in Spanish:

Free includes debt-free!

I don't understand spanish,

I don't understand spanish, so if you could just spell it out for me I'd really appreciate it. And saying "what they shouldn't want" tells me jack.

It has subtitles

It is a video history covering 3 Presidencies, how they used the crowd, and how the crowd was sold a bill of goods by the banking elite.

Protesting is part of the answer, but if they hope to move forward by not repeating the same mistakes then a review of history is essential.

The short answer is that government is the problem not the answer. If government borrows more from the bankers and cannot repay, who will the bankers send the repo men after: The taxpayers.

Free includes debt-free!

I understand all of that and

I understand all of that and now that I actually clicked the link I already watched that movie, twice even.

But... I highly doubt those spanish protesters understand it, and want less government and more freedom and a honest monetary system.

It is sad.

Over at Micheal Moore's site Young Spaniards for Employment are demanding jobs from the political class. LOL. The political class are takers not makers.

Maybe they should find things to do to improve their own condition independent of the government?

The only thing the government can do is borrow even more money from the banksters.

Stupid Marxists think the breaking and stealing stuff will lead to a government that abhors such violence and destruction. Foolish humans.

I wish they would try liberty instead!

Free includes debt-free!

That is a whole lot of judgment

simply based on a rag like CNN. Look at what they have said about, and done to..our good Dr. Just because CNN says it, doesn't make it so. Besides, who cares if they are socialist or anything else...they aren't Americans and that's all that matters.
