Meet The Press has 2.9 million viewers

The Problem with the Sunday Political shows is that their viewership is so small. Meet the Press is the #1 Sunday Political show and yet only has 2.9 million viewers which is tiny by most standards.
Oprah has 7.9 million viewers
American Idol 33.7 million viewers
Super Bowl 90.8 Million Viewers
Most People who watch Meet The Press already know of Ron Paul - these are very politically savvy voters.

Super Bowl 90 million viewers?
We DEFINITELY need the RP Blimp there!
Big difference between
Oprah, Idol, etc. The folks that tune in to MTP and actually watch it are very very likely voters. The one'sthe good doc needs to reach and convince to vote for him. He had the audience today but he idn't make a strong pitch for their vote. He had great answers but he needs to frame them so that they connect with voters.
h-daddy
How could we get him on
How could we get him on Oprah? That would be a demographic that we have largely not reached IMO.

Oprah
That would be great.
It's not just MTP
It's all the other shows that will use it as a reference when they want to slam a candidate. How many times did you see the Romney clips on CNN and Fox?
Football crowd unreceptive to Ron Paul? What?
I strongly disagree with that stereotype-I love Football (I played in HS) the Superbowl(its a family event in my home), Apple pie(I bake), the Military(Im a vet), America(I still think its the best), and Ron Paul ! & Im not alone!

Good!
I'm glad you're not alone. I did clearly state that it was a stereotype, not a universal truth. I've just never met anyone like you, personally.

This is why I don't want Ron Paul to change -- AT ALL. Here he is directly after the show, interacting with supporters: http://youtube.com/watch?v=X_EZXS6WfYA
WATCH IT!

2.9 million is huge campared to cable's CNN or Fox or MSNBC
2.9 million is huge compared to cable's CNN or Fox or MSNBC. They'll be lucky if they get 500k viewers. I don't believe that Tucker's show has ever had 250k.
Yes that 2.9 million is small compared to Idol, but a very small percentage of American are registered to vote and a smaller percentage even cares enough to vote. It was great exposure to the interested Americans who vote.
I thought RP did a great job!
When talking about the Civil War, Russert said something to the effect of "..but we'd still have slavery."
Just how stupid and desperate is the DC elite getting?
superbowl advertisement
Perhaps we should consider a Superbowl advertyisement or two plus getting the Ron Paul blimp over the Superbowl as well.
I don't think they want
I don't think they want political ads, so they don't allow them.
superbowl ad & blimp
it would turn a lot of heads for sure..
Baseball > Football :-P
Somehow, I just don't see the Superbowl crowd as being very receptive to Ron Paul's message. They tend to be the blindly hyper-patriotic flag-waving types, who are only too happy to have an eternal enemy to hate, and will accept whatever enemy the President gives them. This is why they watch football, after all, to hate every team that is not their team, and to always support their team, no matter what. They'd see Ron Paul as "girly" for not rooting "our team" in every game.
Forgive the stereotype, but I believe it is fairly accurate, overall. From my experience anyway. Every single hardcore football fan I know, and I know many, fits this mold like they were cast from it.

Not in my town
I agree that that stereotype exists in any crowd of football fans, but at least here in San Diego it's definitely the minority. I have canvassed Charger games, and I would say the well over 50% of the people I have approached have been receptive to Ron's message. Of course with any crowd you must use the proper approach depending on their likely stance on issues, and here in this military town it's pretty easy to lead with RP having the most military donations, and then following that up with some points like these:

I'm sure this tactic will work wonders with just about any football crowd - heck maybe even at a pro wrestling match!

we need to break through
to the chattering classes too. these 2.9 Million people are influential.
The "political savvy voters" that you speak of
are the same political savvy voters that vote in caucus and primary elections
Percentage to percentage basis would you feel better speaking to people who vote in elections or people who text votes for their favorite idol? Know your audience.

You made my point for me
Exactly they are politically savvy voters and already have chosen who they will vote for. They research, they are political junkies. Ron Paul going on Meet the Press is not going to sway too many people one way or the other.
By the way
I wouldn't be for a superbowl ad at this point
I agree
I would only support an expensive super bowl ad if Larry the Cable Guy endorsed Ron paul
