Conversion Starter Kit?

Could those of you who have had success with converting others share your stories of how you did it? And if you've learned in the process of things NOT to do, that advice would also be appreciated. I'd also be interested if there are different tactics for different age groups. I'm specifically wondering about converting baby boomers but I don't want to limit it to that. Thanks.
Since this is my first post, I'll share who I am as to not get the troll label. 38, male, CA, engineer. Hayek's "Road to Serfdom" made a huge impact on me 10 years ago. Found Paul about 2 months ago and was hooked after about 2 weeks of research.

Conversion process
The most effective method I have for converting liberal friends is to ask them why does America have 700 military bases in 130 countries?
No one ever has a justification for this. It appears to be a massive government boondoggle.
Then I follow up with, "our children and grand children are about to carry the burden of the baby boom's retirement, does wasting all this money overseas make any sense?"
And then I close with, how come none of the other candidates talk about this?
If they tell me they support Hillary, I tell them Hillary's interesting, because she's likely to get us to bankruptcy the fastest, so we can start a trend reversal sooner rather than later. For the sake of our kids the sooner we get to the trend reversal the better.

It's interesting to me that I get more interest from liberals than conservatives when I bring him up. They had no idea that a Republican voted against the war. I'll try this one, thanks.
