$6 billion in Ethanol Subsidies Survive Vote

Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Tom Coburn, R-Okla., that crystallized a larger ideological split within the GOP over whether removing tax subsidies is a tax increase or is a legitimate way to trim the $1.5 trillion federal deficit.

So this is Grover Norquist"s fault?

I doubt he has that much power.

What ring have we reached in our descent into hell where a subsidy removed is considered a tax increase? Dammit, this is maddening.

Need To Bump

this stupidity! Would love to have been there to see the "debate" on the Senate floor.

$6 Billion/year+ a Billion a year to create freaky GMOs(corn, etc) since the mid-70s? Subsidies make it attractive to buy ethanol added gas at the pump so we can burn this junk in our vehicles with worse gas mileage. Plus, bad on small engines. What a crock.
