Andrew Napolitano, Ron Paul's VP Prospect?
Submitted by northstar on Fri, 06/17/2011 - 13:53If Ron Paul were to win the GOP presidential nomination, there's a chance he wouldn't have to worry about geographical balance on his ticket.
Paul, a Texas congressman and critic of the Federal Reserve, mentioned a former New Jersey judge and current Fox News talk show host -- Andrew Napolitano -- as a potential running mate, in an interview with TheStreet's Alix Steel in Washington this week.

I think Attorney General,
Or a cabinet position with hopefully a nomination to the supreme court...
Is this a game?
Is this a game we're playing here or something? The bump all 36,000 VP threads on the Daily Paul game? I mean this one is from June 2011. There are currently about a dozen or so different VP threads going on in the recent topics right-now... it's ridiculous - if not suspicious.

Interesting comments and suggestions
I do think the Judge would be a great appointment to the Supreme Court or Attorney General. Leave him in the legal field, though, where he would be MOST effective!
I love the suggestions for either Tom Woods or John Stossel as Press Secretary...NICE!
I love Jesse Ventura, but this is where the "realist" in me comes out noting how he would polarize those on the left who "might" come towards Ron in a general election.
But there are some really great comments and suggestions in this thread to be sure!
I have to dissagree with Ron on this...
He says that people are angry because they think they can steal something from someone else....people payed very high taxes and that was supposed to go to these things that would help the people but now when they see that the money is gone and they got nothing from all the taxes they payed of course the people will be pissed off.
I agree with Paul that you can´t steal from your neighbour but let´s not only blame the people, the Goverment stole their money and promised something in return.

Teach a man to phish and he'll clean out your bank account.

I agree...
The parasitic bankers are the biggest problem. They have stolen trillions with their bailouts and infusion of Federal Reserve cash. The other stuff is worrying over nickels in comparison.
I've always liked Tom Woods
I've always liked Tom Woods as well. But I really think he'd be the best Press Secretary ever. He can articulate Ron's ideas to the media and public better than just about anyone, even sometimes Ron himself. IMHO, it's a very, very underrated position in it's importance.
The ONLY reason I don't like this ...
is because I want to see Napolitano as chief justice of the supreme court. Appointed to the first supreme court vacancy, then reappointed if/when the chief slot opens.
A vice president's term is four years and a presidency is two terms max. But a seat on the court is for life. Putting Napolitano there is a legacy that could last for decades and produce case law that would last for centuries. And I don't know of ANYONE more likely to interpret the constitution correctly (from my viewpoint) than Andrew N.
An additional downside to running him as VP is that it would take him off his soapbox at FBN. An appointment once the presidency starts means he can stay on the air through the campaign (unless Murdoch pulls him).
Having said that, yes he IS just the sort of brilliant attack dog of a public speaker that would make an ideal campaign partner.

Sarah Palin
Four years ago, when she was an almost complete unknown, the suggestion was that Sarah Palin might make a good running mate for Ron Paul -- look how that turned out.
It's a bit premature to be talking about running mates. It's off-topic and a waste of energy.

From a
strategic standpoint I favor Kucinch over Napaletano because it would give instant credibility to the ticket amongst democrats. A ticket able to breach party lines which have been blurred into oblivion these past 50 years. I like Napaletano The Judge not Janet (The Jury) she's on my Cheney list. Ron Paul That's All 2012

Government is supposed to protect our freedom, our property, our privacy, not invade it. Ron Paul 2007
Napolitano an excellent choice.
Anybody that Ron chooses may well become President given RP's advanced age. Tom Woods is not a good choice as he is an academic and has no experience in politics/government. Bachmann is OK, but would definitely not be RP's ideological heir.
About 2 years ago I had a dream that Napolitano had become POTUS much to the consternation of Obama's erstwhile supporters. I thought it was strange, but now I'm starting to wonder.
To the Vanilla Fudge crowd below, one can be sued for libel and slander in a free society, unless you've made it clear that it's a joke.
Kucinich
That ticket would be unbeatable. and get the judge to be attorney Gen. Awesome!
NO MORE LIES. Ron Paul 2012.
No way.
When push comes to shove, Kucinich folds. He also doesn't share many of the same points as Dr Paul.
Honestly, I didn't really think about running mates... but when Ron Paul threw the idea out that he likes Andrew Napolitano... I got a big smile. That would be one great ticket.
Respectfully, No.
Remember, he could actually wind up in office.
Great choice!
Ron Paul's one weakness is that he is not a great orator. Especially in formats where time is limited (like debates), he has trouble articulating his ideas.
Napolitano is an excellent speaker and a great communicator of ideas. He could run circles around Obama and Biden in this regard.
He is also highly principled and radical in the best sense of the word. Plus, he is very intelligent and has a tremendous knowledge of history and the Constitution. Again, he beats Obama and Biden hands down.
Bachman? Please, no. She is a warmonger and still has much to learn about economics. Kucinich is a well-meaning commie. A nice man, but shouldn't be Ron's VP. I like Jesse Ventura, but he is a bit of a loose cannon and might blow up the ticket.
Paul/Napolitano would be unbeatable. Go for it, guys!
Nothing against the Judge, but...
...the top 5% of articulate posters at the DP could easily best Obama/Biden in a debate.
But yes, the Judge would massacre them in a debate.

Depends on who runs the teleprompter for the B & O Railroad.
Mr B? Mr O? You jest!
Before the Un-Civil War could ramp up full throttle, the North needed coal for their tenders. They needed to fire up their "tenders legally." The needed a rapid supply of "legal tender." Coal that is, black coal. Virginia train loads full.
The B & O Railroad sent a brand new track into the coal mining region of Virginia. Soon after the trains starting hauling coal to the North, the Lincoln Administration War Cabinet saw to it that votes were taken in the coal mining region until the desired result was calculated. This was done without approval from the Richmond Virginia state capitol. The annexation of West Virginia & the rapid creation of the state of Nevada gave the Lincoln War Cabinet desired votes to pass despotic legislation.
West Virginia was the carbon store of energy to run the North's carbon based industry...
The Parker Brothers "Monopoly Game," commemorates this history.

Now some behind the Mr B & O Railroad teleprompter have a similar notion of Middle Eastern oil. The carbon based economy we have today runs industry on it... Carbon.
Oil, gas, coal? Each is mostly carbon. Paper cash? Carbon. We live in a carbon credit "legal tender" system. Tendered of, by & for... carbon.

Now a days, you don't even need a real railroad... This leaves me to wonder just what havoc a couple of jesters reading teleprompters can sell.

Agreed! An unbeatable ticket!
Would love to see this!

More appeal.
Personally I would like Ron Paul to choose a strong, conservative woman. And I think he should break tradition and choose a Vice presidential running mate before going to the convention. Why not?
grant
Wide Appeal?
Does the judge have the same wide appeal that Ron is starting to show? We need someone who would continue to show that Ron is about results rather then labels. Have to admit, though, that Bachmann would placate the mainstream conservatives. If he's friends with her, I would for that ticket. He would be a great mentor for her.
Oh! And I would kill to see Stossel as Press Secretary.
