Breaking: Major Ex Bush Official Joins Ron Paul Campaign!

"Indicating that the Ron Paul campaign is bringing in the heavy political artillery to win the 2012 Republican nomination for U.S. President, former Special Assistant to George H. W. Bush, Doug Wead-- who played no small part in George W. Bush's successful 2000 presidential bid, helping to orchestrate Bush's victory in the Iowa straw polls of 1999-- has joined the Ron Paul 2012 campaign."

To win.

If we are going to actually win the nomination this time, we are going to need people like him. We need the votes/changed minds/overlap of mainstream republicans, Bush supporters/etc. Everyone who keep saying things about trusting this guy or not trusting that guy because of their roots probably doesn't understand that we have to expand to win. Dr. Paul will stick to his guns, we know that. We need major support across the board. THEY are supporting HIM, not vice versa. There aren't enough of us perfect Ron Paul supporters to win.

Protection FROM neo-cons is

Protection FROM neo-cons is just as important as protecting their rights under the Constitution. All support is good support, but no special favors for any.

I remember Doug Wead from the early 80's

I almost didn't recognize his image here as I remember Doug Wead from the early 1980's as a Christian writer/author.

He has "significant" weight within the evangelical community, folks, as he's been an accepted and respected voice for decades. This is the very reason he was brought in for GW's campaign back in 2000.

If true, this is a VERY good thing for Ron's campaign in reaching conservative evangelicals! No matter what your own personal religious or non-religious stance, we need those various "voices" in various demographics speaking to their respective bases to bring them ALL to the table when needed.

So long as neo-cons aren't

So long as neo-cons aren't driving the agenda, fine. Let 'em learn that govenment isn't THEIR cookie jar either.

fmr VP of Christian and Jews United for Israel

...according to his own article:

The Christian and Jews United for Israel website says they began in 2006 so he wasn't VP too long ago. It looks like a Zionist organization to me.

Christian Zionists...

Zealots for Israel... Mostly superstitious, although they would never recognize that... Bachmann is one also... They are mostly ignorant of the economic and global aspirations of the wealthy Zionists, but their support for Israel is unequivocal and unilateral since it is based in superstition (meaning as long as we put Israel first then God will take care of us)

I must say, I've been a little disappointed in the recent direction toward christian conservatism I have seen, especially with the slim jim promotions on ronpaul2012... I know we need the support but I feel it compromises the message somewhat and I feel that it alienates some of the more liberal support we had been picking up...

I did think he did a good job explaining Dr. Paul's stance on Israel, which is not anti-Israel, but actually recognizes Israel's sovereignty and cuts foreign aid to her enemies...

YES, I Remember Doug Wead In 2008

He spoke early on at the CFL 'Rally For The Republic', in September 2008, at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

It is difficult to trust any 'insider', but perhaps a certain extent of trust might be proferred to this man.

I have a couple of pictures of Mr. Wead that I took at this event, but I cannot figure out how to link them to this comment. They are fairly high quality...

Excellent Speech

I remember it from 3 years ago.

Bottom line, as Wead said "we are all that is left (to defend liberty) we can not drop the ball"

If that statement alone doesn't get you motivated, I don't know what will.

Continue Spreading the word of Ron Paul in ALL ways possible.

Please continue to promote, discuss and pass around the good word of Ron Paul.

If you are new to him, research him well and be sure you find reliable and accurate sources for information. Make your choice for 2012!

All of us together can make this movement a reality in 2012, but we cannot let up for a second.

Thanks for all of your continued support!

Why did he decide to join the campaign?

That's my first question.

Wead is not new to supporting Dr. Paul

Google "Doug Wead Ron Paul" to see for yourself.

This is absolutely FANTASTIC news. Unlike Karl Rove and Dick Morris, who would say and do anything to achieve their goals, Wead is honest and forthright, while being clever, astute, and nobody's fool. Wead parted with Bush when Bush failed to live-up to his promises to promote limited government and a humble foreign policy.

Joη's picture

agreed, the news is about the person

not that he was an ex Bush official, as the heading implies.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

I'd love to hear his conversion story

If he was a supporter of neocons (as I once was) I'd love to know when he saw the light of liberty.

I recommend we keep things realistic, okay?

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

So who sent confirmation of the hire?

Cause it's pure speculation so far. He just mentioned that he had done some consulting which traditionally means "not officially hired" or working outside official circles.

If you want to win, you hire

If you want to win, you hire connected professionals with a track record of winning. If they hire Karl Rove next, that wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit. People are hired to do a job. If they fail, fire them.

Quite true. We must prepare for some shocks as Dr. Paul gains

Quite true. We must prepare for some shocks as Dr. Paul gains more traction.

All kinds of insiders and corporate higher-ups will gravitate toward Dr. Paul as a natural reaction to his rising popularity.

Lest we forget, when he secures the GOP nomination for Presidential candidate, we will be counting McCain and Graham as fellow supporters.

It will be very ironic indeed, and some of us may not have the ability to stand alongside them and their supporters.

But Dr. Paul's been there long enough to know how to open his arms and given em all a big "welcome aboard" hug.

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

John "Liberal" McCain! Ha ha ha ha...

You must be making a joke.... Ha ha ha those old fools will give their "faux" support to the Good Doctor. They will never openly support Ron Paul.

That's like asking the vipers and thieves to support Jefferson. The only reason they gravitate is to "save face" for the sake of political correctness....Kerry & McCain are enemies of the Constitution. They will always be trotskyites.

You're so wrong.

You forgot, Paul in nowise supported McCain and there is zero chance McCain or Kerry would support their arch enemy, Ron Paul, defender of the Constitution. In fact, they would work OT to sabotage Paul.

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

I... think you're forgetting they have no souls

I... think you're forgetting they have no souls. McCain didn't care Dr. Paul refused to endorse him in 08 because he was endorsed by the guys at the Washington Post who swiftly voted for Obama anyway.

These neocon insider swine have no soul and will stoop to any and all levels to maintain their fiefdoms within the government.

Should a neocon nightmare happen and Dr. Paul emerge as the candidate, John McCain may force himself to growl,

"We're ALL Pauliticians Now!!!"

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

Doug Weed is awesome

he is one of us.

Check out his blog. He's been touting Paul for years. He is also in the "For Liberty" documentary, and spoke at The Rally for the Republic.

Ron Paul Can Win The Iowa Straw Poll and Raise Millions

from it, according to Doug Weed. Well, if this is true or not we must get going..We Need lots of Boots on the Ground and Money, Money, Money!!!

Here, here! Officially

Here, here! Officially welcoming you to The R3volution Mr. Wead! Onward!

Look Again

I think you'll find he's been on board for quite some time, when it comes to The R3volution. But would be great to have him on the campaign staff, for sure.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

There is no official anything.

The only source was the blog linked above. I'm dubious after the billionaire thread about any such announcement from an anonymous inside source.

How about if Doug Wead told you himself?

C-Span June 18, 2011

"I've been a part of seven presidential campaigns over the years and in the interests of full disclosure, I should say our company, Wead Enterprises, is a consultant to the Ron Paul campaign, so if I sound like I'm a real Constitutionalist, that's where that comes from."

He said it at 11:58 into the video:

PS: This is from the Humble Libertarian blog piece.

has long been used as a slippery word. USUALLY it means he's involved in an indirect way. Not officially HIRED, as in being in constant contact with Benton and being paid for it.
