Why the 2 partys.

0 votes

I have been wondering this question for a while now. Why are we seperated into 2 plus political parties. All the canidates from both sides ( not this election but others) have diffrent viewpoints. Is this not some sort of political racism where you gather your ideas based on what group you belong to rather then the truth. Quite simply should it not be the best person for the job not what their label says. Its segragation pure and simple, I do not care that a person is black green yellow blue purple or whatnot, a person is a person and if they are a good person I like them . Labels divide ideas unite. The only reason there is any sort of racism in this country is because we continue to label and catagorise people to certain groups rather then the one big group human beings.

First amendment

The right to organize into political parties is guaranteed by the First Amendment freedom to associate. The problem comes in with the ballot access laws that have been put into place by Republicans and Democrats to keep third parties out.

A political party is more than just a label -- there is a party platform behind it. The problem in 2000 is that Bush hijacked the platform after the primaries and without input from the delegates that the voters elected.

Duverger's Law

There's a pretty exciting field within Mathematics that deals with the different ways to vote, instant run-off, etc. Quite fascinating (if you're into the whole math thing that is).

Whigs and Tories

I liked it better when we were just Whigs and Tories.

Illusion

Dead On

There's not a nickel's difference between the GOP and the DNC, these days. Washington warned against political parties. The parties are like trusts or a monopoly, using their unchecked power and influence to throw elections.

The fix - please pardon the length - Needed for clarity

The 2 party system is a mathmatical reality of the system of voting.

In every system of voting that allows one vote per person, the system will eventually break down (devolve) into a two party system.

People will gravitate to the party which is closest (or, should I more accurately say, not the furthest away) to thier personal beliefs. This is very dangerous because, as we see in politics today, our beliefs and principles get hijacked with ulterior motives. What started out as an arena for freedom has become a quagmire of muddy principles.

I truly believe that freedom is polular - which is actually the basis of BOTH the Democrats and Republicans (in thier original form) - okay, you can stop laughing now :0) -- But it is true, in the original forms.

Democrats are correct that it is not the governments' place to determine what we can and cannot do with our bodies (so long as we do not affect other people) and the Republicans are correct that it is not the governments' perogative to take from one person to give to another (legalized theft)

The Democratic (big D) party has been twisted over the years to Socialism. Thier platform that was intended to fight back against the government regulation of individual freedoms has moved (Left, if you want to call it that) to a state of nanny control over our lives and our economics. Rob Peter to give Paul what he wants (or purports to NEED) - people no longer seem to understand that this is an affront to liberty.

The Republican (big R) party has slowly devolved into Statism. Thier platform of individual economic freedom has become twisted (to the Left, again, if that is what you would like to call it) to a platform of big government controlling our actions (although they still want, in whatever small portion that is left, to attempt to guard our economic freedoms)

Both parties are wrong most of the time. In particuar 'Issue' positions, they are right now and again (which is why they still win elections) but the majority of their parties have gone astray from any principle of freedom.

How can you fix it? I propose this:

Every person gets 2 votes. One 'For' and one 'Against'
This would give rise to (at least) a three party system (maybe more) and would serve to re-align this country to the beliefs of her citizens.

Run the scenario in your head, or on paper. This system will work - very effectively. - I would happily explain this in even greater detail if anyone would like to continue this discussion.

NA

I don't see any attempt by the neo-cons to even pretend they care about economic freedom anymore. Its all, we must do this and that for the "good of the economy" pretending that the economy is free.

the two party system, now is one

The two party system is a cover used to press forward with the neocon agenda. Like most things political the two party system allows the public to feel like they are rooting for the right or wrong as the case may be. At one point in time it did matter which party you were affiliated with, but most Americans FINALLY woke to the realization that there is in fact only one true party, and that was the party of politicos that voted to sell our country to illegal immigrants with an amnesty program.

There are other parties out there, and with a little research you will find that like the Ron Paul campaign the media has marginalized them for years. I feel that this is where much of the anger that we see in our campaign comes from, people who have never been involved in politics but have been awakened by Dr. Paul's message. They do not realize that the media slander, and misrepresentation of candidates has been going on for years and years and they are just starting to feel the sting of a candidate that is getting the full service corporate lashing.

My theory about the one party two names is certainly fact. Just look at congress now. Liberals shouted the battle cry and won the senate, but what did the left do when they got there? So much talk from Pelosi, and you see now that there is not a peep. It is hard to shout over the crowd while the military industrial complex is lining your pockets with hard cash!

Do a little research on Libertarians runs for president, and although you will not find as much information exposing the two parties working together unified in taking over and making sure the sheeple stay in line, but information like Michael Badnarik's run in which he was not allowed to even attend the debates at all, and when he tried to enter he was arrested. This is represented in this article from 2004:
http://www.s-seven.net/blog/archive/2004_10_01_archive.php
And take note that they mentioned at the time "Fox News up until now has had an unwritten policy on even mentioning Badnarik's name" sound familiar?? If Badnarik had raised 20 million dollars it would have been a little different, as a matter of fact he would have received the same attention Dr. Paul is getting in the media as I type this.

This is why I feel that there are many many many independents out there ready to jump for the Ron Paul Revolution due to so many years of being ignored and marginalized by being called the same names wakos, weirdoes, nut jobs, and so on. Key words that main stream America accepts as fact because their champions on the air say so.

My fear is that they will steal this election through voter fraud and any other method available to them, and let’s not forget that they have the money and the weapons to make it so. I hope at least one person reads this and is better educated about the political misdeeds of not only the political parties, but the corporate owned media and their board of directors that feel that a free America is a threat to them, as the saying goes "if it aint broke don’t fix it" and when you make over 500K a year and get tax discounts the system is definitely not broken for you! So please educate your children and let them know that the history of this country and fully understanding it will make them powerful, and teach them of the misleading MSM and how they are looking out for their own interests ONLY and not the American people's by any stretch of the imagination and one day with an educated populace perhaps things will change in this country. I pray it is before all that we are and have become is lost to a few wealthy, greedy, traitors and their families.

Dam politicians, not rivers!

Always remember:
"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." ~ Samuel Adams

Stay IRATE, remain TIRELESS, and set those BRUSH FIRES everywhere you go and in all you do!

It's the Voting System...

The two party system is a natural outgrowth of our flawed "first past the post" voting system. There are other voting systems (not including the so-called Instant Runoff System which is also highly flawed) that do not lead to the formation of just two dominant political parties. I prefer Approval Voting, but Range Voting and most forms of the Condrocet Voting System are fine as well.

Unfortunately all voting systems are flawed to some disagree as has been proven mathematically. But the USA's unfortunate reliance on the very worst voting system is a mistake that has helped lead this country to the brink of ruin.

The founding fathers recommended that the states act as 50 different experiments in democracy so that best practices in terms of voting and representative government would emerge over time. Sadly this never happened. Instead we got stuck with the worst possible election system. Working to change this sad state of affairs would be an excellent follow-on project for the Revolution to address after we complete the more important and immediate task of taking back our government.

So in a simplistic way of

So in a simplistic way of thinking having no parties would be the best like I thought? I mean right away people in congress would not need to worry about voting on party lines only the best ideas and that would eventually trickle down to the people no ? Among a ton of other great reasons party lines is whats killing some of the integrity of bills ect.
