Police State Strides Forward: 95 year old woman mother asked to remove adult diaper during TSA search

http://www.nwfdailynews.com/news/mother-41324-search-adult.html

A woman has filed a complaint with federal authorities over how her elderly mother was treated at Northwest Florida Regional Airport last weekend.

Jean Weber of Destin filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security after her 95-year-old mother was detained and extensively searched last Saturday while trying to board a plane to fly to Michigan to be with family members during the final stages of her battle with leukemia.

Her mother, who was in a wheelchair, was asked to remove an adult diaper in order to complete a pat-down search.

“It’s something I couldn’t imagine happening on American soil,” Weber said Friday. “Here is my mother, 95 years old, 105 pounds, barely able to stand, and then this.”

Moral of the story...

Always carry a spare diaper.
Put it around your head and TSA won't dare bother you.

Really...this is the end, folks. The fiber optic video of your rectum is next. You know, like the dentist uses.

Well,

So much for "Depend-able" transportation. We are doomed.

It is too bad she and/or her caregiver did not refuse such an outrageous request. That's like the police who tell you to submit to rape. It might save your life.

Thank you Michael Nystrom for front paging this article

Folks listen to me.
All I did was to post here and on Twitter and then send this article to Drudge Report(and they posted it!)

This should teach everyone a lesson.

We can effect real change by our actions!

Now even my local newspaper this morning is covering the same article:

reverse agent provocateurs

We should talk about the concept of reverse agent provocateurs, where people join the TSA (and other agencies), do something stupid like this, so that it de-legitimizes government.

Hegelian Dialectic

The Hegelian Dialectic is, in short, the critical process by which the ruling elite create a problem, anticipating in advance the reaction that the population will have to the given crisis, and thus conditioning the people that a change is needed. When the population is properly conditioned, the desired agenda of the ruling elite is presented as the solution. The solution isn't intended to solve the problem, but rather to serve as the basis for a new problem or exacerbate the existing one.

The solution is what is bothering me.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.
Ron Paul - The Revolution

Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms. Ron Paul

Just read what TSA/DHS says

They already have the solution. It is called "trusted traveler". The answer to the problem they created is a national biometric ID card that you will soon need to travel. Eventually the biometric ID will be needed to attend school, get a job, do business with your bank, and purchase anything. The government will be able to monitor all of those things and turn off your ability to do all of those things with the push of a button. The "no fly list" becomes "no work/shop/eat list".

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

Cards are too easy to counterfeit.

I'm holding out for when they have a convenient chip they can put in my forehead or hand. That will make it easier to pay all the interest we'll need to pay to implement the system.

we must fight back NOW

if we don't fight back --
we are done.

Educate your friends and neighbors

I'm traveling 1500 miles by train in a couple of weeks to avoid this. My family didn't understand why I just didn't fly, but I have had long conversations with many people about this issue. Some of my friends and family still have the "whatever makes me safe" attitude, but most have come around to agree with me.

It is plain to see that agents spending 45 minutes on this 95 year old lady doesn't make us safer, but make us less safe in more ways than one. It should be self evident that the risk of a terrorist attack is quite low, but it can never be brought down to zero risk, regardless of how much liberty you are willing to sacrifice. You should be afforded the 4th amendment protections of the constitution. There is a certain level of risk associated with freedom.

It should also be obvious that terrorist and criminals don't deserve civil liberties protections, but we still must have laws protecting everyone equally. I told my grandfather that satan himself should be protected equally to me, because if you remove laws for satan, it removes laws protecting you.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

Good for you.

I myself just drove from Texas to Wisconsin for a family vacation for the exact same reason. And you know what? I prefer it!

More and more people are putting themselves

on the "no-fly" list because of incidents like this.

I have seen it postulated that the TSA exists to put the airlines out of business, and I find that a credible hypothesis.

All totalitarian regimes have restricted travel. Ours is no different.

And keep in mind, the government boldly encroaches on our remaining liberties once in a while just so they can monitor our reactions and plot their next level of encroachment.

ACinMA's picture

hmmm

“TSA cannot exempt any group from screening because we know from intelligence that there are terrorists out there that would then exploit that vulnerability,” she said.

Yet, didnt they just exclude young children from the screenings over these past few weeks?

There was no official press release on that subject.

I looked for it - nada. It seems they told the media to report a change in policy - like a rumor - but there is no official evidence of any change to procedure. I could not find a source for any of those stories.

I think it was a PR move in response to Rand's questioning. But I think it is a lie.

Big Deal

she'll file a complaint the same as hundreds before her have done and in the meantime, all they get is more regulations and deeper into a police state.
All people have to do is stay off the planes foe a few weeks, let the air lines go under and see how fast things change.

The straw

I wonder in which form the straw that broke the camel's back will come in? This is absolute proof that Americans no longer believe in civil liberties. Osama has been "killed" and the police state marches on!? Americans are truly asleep. Paramilitary police currently patrol US streets with automatic weapons. When you wake up during the march to the gas chambers, it will be too late.

I refuse to fly any airlines

I refuse to fly any airlines that have anything to do with the TSA.

I've had less hassle from Chinese police and customs officials, hell even US Border patrol and customs than what people are getting from the TSA!

We don't have much time to reverse this shit

Do the math. 5 year old kids being molested right now by TSA will be used to it by the time they are 18.Millions of kids will grow up use to being molested by the TSA by the time they reach the age of 18. That is 13 years. By that time, the current elderly people who have survived ww2,and survived the holocaust will have been long gone. The greatest generation will be gone. The elderly in 13 years will be the baby boomer generation....and they will be very weak to reverse their ignorant and arrogant politics of today. In 13 years people who had families during 9/11/2001 will have grown families and by that time be use to giving up their "freedoms" because of fear that they had for their families during 2001-2011....they will forget, and justify the means by the end in 13 years saying "nothing has happend to us cause the government made us safe". People who were 18-30 years old and single, married and no kids...will be the only generation and group of people who truly understand the pre-9/11 era,and the post 9/11 era. In 13 years, the generation of those who grew up in a pre 9/11 and were old enough to understand everything happening, will be the last people who understand post 9/11 era...and can stop the fascism.

More than 500 people are killed

on US highways every week.
That's more than would be killed if a Boeing 747 Jumbo jet was blown out of the sky once a week.

And that number is down from 750 deaths/week in years proceeding this economic downturn when more people where on the road.

What we are seeing here is definitely Tyranny.

When the FED threatened Texas

with a NO FLY.
Texas should have said: "Go ahead, Shut it down".

That would have put some serious pressure on the FED.

Can you imagine the impact of that?

They're about to repeat that day in history....

And do it again.

Holy Crap!

This is where I've lived my whole life! I've thought only these insane searches were happening in the big city airports, but a quite town like Fort Walton Beach/Destin it really brings home the reality of our intrusive government. Things are getting very bad indeed when incontinence meets incompetence at my local airport!
