So it's a free-market capitalist consipiracy.

Yeah, right. Why is socialist propaganda being promoted on this site?

Paul Craig Roberts is not

Paul Craig Roberts is not socialist, he's telling it how it is. All this talk about the Debt Ceiling is rhetoric, it is a fictitious HOAX. He's not saying anything different from what Ron Paul has said. As long as there are wars going on, there will be an emperor in the White House, because of Emergency Powers. As long as there are wars going on, Obama & Congress will be serving the vested interests - the corporate elites & the banksters. Those that think they are owed social security benefits & pensions will find out very soon that they will be on the short end of that stick.
cheers

turiya -_-

I cannot believe a few idiots on this website posted this guy

First time ive heard Paul Craig Roberts and I hear all this bullshit propaganda coming out of his mouth about how "free markets" aka "privatization" is a plan to destroy social security.Hes soo full of it he pretends that social security is being destroyed by free markets.WHY CANT he just talk about the inflation that has makes "social security" impossible to sustain. He wont because he is a socialist, defending a socialist system.

Another Libertarian who has

Another Libertarian who has issues with opposing views.

Just like Liberals, Libertarians attack the opponent and not his argument.

Very nice

Paul Craig Roberts is lying

he is basically defending socialism, and saying that republicans have destroyed the "social security" system. He is such a TOOL bag...no,liar. Inflation, and monetary policy have enabled social security, and have also destroyed it in the end.....so who is he to be lying, and who posted this garbage? Paul Craig Roberts is defending socialism and blaming "privatization".Its a typical BULLSHIIT that the socialists blame "free markets" for failure of their socialist system.

Just take this last item: In the last two years we have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our entire nation's history.Over 27 times as fast. Metaphorically speaking, if you are driving in the right lane doing 65 MPH and a car rockets past you in the left lane. 27 times faster, it would be doing 7,555 MPH!

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 24 months -- so you'll have one year and ten months to come up with an answer.
Every statement in this email is factual and directly attributable to Barrack Hussein Obama. Every bumble is a matter of record and completely verifiable.

EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS...

Paul Craig Robert a flipping socialist

Get Paul Craig Roberts out of here. He is flipping socialist.

You are absolutely right!!!!!!!!!! I heard his rhetoric in that

he says "privatization" is done by crooks. HE IS A FLIPPIN SOCIALIST undoubtedly! and a liar!

You're a rather strange bird mb

Been a member for over 2 years and have only done about 3 posts. One against Rand Paul, now this nonsense about PCR being a socialist (which is utterly wrong)...... what are you up to lurking around here for so long and only starting to pop up now?

Thomas Jefferson: “Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever."

Viva La Revolucion!

Paul Roberts is a socialist!

listen to him speak you fool. He calls people crooks for advocating "privatized retirement and healthcare". DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE CALIBER OF LIES he just spewed?! He is calling free markets evil!and he infact blames "privatization" for the destruction of socialist system called "social security".get a freakin clue you NOOB.

he is not

I talked with him via email -- he supports Ron Paul.

Love won! Deliverance from Tyranny is on the way! Col. 2:13-15

OH REALLY?

then why is he calling "privatization" wrong? Sounds to me that you don't understand the rhetoric coming out of his mouth. He advocates social security....and then he viciously attacks anyone who advocates "privatization".He is taking the opportunity to blame "privatization" for the fUCK ups of the monetary policy. In other words, he blames the free markets!

Deregulations to

ALL. I agree with what he said as far as the ridiculous costs of premiums and the wars BUT in a peaceful and free society would wouldn't be trying to save $1 Trillion here to spend $1 Trillion there but we would be saving $2 Trillion both places and letting that pay these apparently high health benefits for elderly people...(not in a socialized way but in that people get to keep $2 Trillion worth of their taxes a year)

Of course that is a far ways off from happening. War needs to go first. Social security medicare and medicaid all need to go but not all at once. What we need to do is have the ability to opt out of these because they were bankrupt and non-soluble from day one.

This man is right in saying that these people paid their whole lives into these programs but how can they work when these same people withdraw 3 times what they put in?
Some might say that is a result of high medical prices and I would agree BUT I have two points about that argument.

1) Still doesn't make these programs soluble and stable. So continuing them is nothing more then redundant.
2) Medical prices have increased because of the regulations on this field. The regulations are strangling this industry. Also, having Obamney'Care' isn't going to help your premiums.

The point is if the steps that are needed to fix these issues were to be taken then the system would become, as a whole, able to support itself without a social net.

You lower medical costs by deregulating (and repealing Obomney'Care') then the insurance premiums would decrease which enables elderly people who have saved and grown their money on their own, apart from Big Government's ponzi scheme of the social net, to purchase and hold a policy that works for them.

"We need to understand the more government spends, the more freedom is lost...Instead of simply debating spending levels, we ought to be debating whether the departments, agencies, and programs funded by the budget should exist at all."
— Ron Paul

This is

right on. Good or bad programs, it does not matter . They have been PAID FOR, over the years.

and yes, It is the "President's perpetual war". Though the President's problem is, WAR has never been declared.

So look out when they start to meddle with declaring war.
We are at that point in congress. Smoke screen.

Declaring war would legitimize the President's, no law applies.

We are in a catch 22. Because of ?

Just wanted to politely disagree

I come from the camp that dislikes Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security along with warfare. I don't like the way he paints as matter of fact that these are good programs. If you cut the military down to what we actually need you still don't balance the federal budget, and, even if it did, tax rates are still at an absolute minimum 50% to high. Welfare and Warfare are the problem and fixing either individually without the other will not solve the deficit problem.

I would add

You could fix both welfare and warfare and still be screwed as long as the fed controls interest rates and debases your savings.

I'll take my Liberty, it's not yours to give.

Understand that "national bank" enables socialism

It is the ability to take money from others, and disperse the money unequally to those chosen...which makes socialism possible and makes socialism fail in the end. Planned markets never work, unless you intend to kill billions of people to seize the money.

Agreed

Just fix the Fed first and the other spending problems will self correct

Letters

By the way, was there any feedback at all to your hand written letter idea? Older caucus participants know they haven't been able to keep up with the low interest rates and high prices. Might have been a good experiment.

I'll take my Liberty, it's not yours to give.

I put it on here as a

I put it on here as a brainstorming idea. No one had showed any interest. I figured if I put it on this site and it was a good idea it would find its way to the right people with the right contacts. I think the howard dean campaign used it with some real success until he imploded...

Good Idea

It was and is a good idea and I thought more eyes needed to see it again. Thanks.

I'll take my Liberty, it's not yours to give.

ya, really

why the hell did he go on and on about entitlements? he can choke on it for all i care.. but don't tax me for it. i ain't expecting any of that crap when i retire, and i don't want any.

All...

Hail King Obama!!!

Notable Quote.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them, will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

- Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), US Founding Father.

It's important to note here

It's important to note here that Jefferson's referring specifically to issuance of paper money here and NOT implying that the government instead should be in control of the money supply. Too many in this movement have watched the ridiculous "Money Masters" documentary and take it for gospel. Just wanna make sure Jefferson's great quote isn't misunderstood.

The point is, NOBODY should be in "control" of the money supply. Money is what the MARKET says it is, not what the GOVERNMENT says it is.

Worthy

I've watched it. And thought about it.

I found its premise compelling. And at least worthy of consideration. Yes, they don't advocate a gold-based currency, but I must say they quote enough history to make their ideas worthy of further discussion.

I've never heard Ron rebut their ideas.

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

He actually voiced a fact I

He actually voiced a fact I had never fully considered, before. In a time of war, the President gets more power and more leeway in disregarding rules--so it is advantageous for them to continue drawn out wars!

Since the dawn of time.

In times of chaos, great power is available for the taking.

Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.
Thomas Jefferson

Not necessity, not desire - no, the love of power is the demon of men. Let them have everything - health, food, a place to live, entertainment - they are and remain unhappy and low-spirited: for the demon waits and waits and will be satisfied.
Friedrich Nietzsche

Dr. Paul Craig Roberts bemoans that

$ Trill/year WARs & bailouts for rich-&-megarich are intentionally employed to destroy social safety net programs. (Yes, he is a progressive. But a conscientious one at that.)

Our "not-engaged-in-hostility-in-Libya" WAR Pres Obm claims and acts as if he is ABOVE and immune from laws.

We shall see how many of our Senators will stand up to uphold the Rule of Law today.
