FOX news bashes Ron Paul over Civil War

Watching FOX news this morning after seeing them tease all morning about Ron Paul vs. Abe Lincoln. They launched into a vicous attack with Bill Kristol calling Ron Paul a "crackpot", "crank" "hates America" etc. etc. Youtube anyone? It will make your blood boil. The fallout from MTP is coming with them twisting it with "Ron Paul coming out against one of our nations heroes Abraham Lincoln"

My parents were persuaded
A lot of people are worried about this, but after talking to my parents, I feel better. They were very surprised by RP's statements re: the Civil War but after consideration, thought he really made a good point. People don't realize how many lives were lost in the war and how every other country in the world eliminated slavery peacefully (and SOONER). Because slavery was more a state's rights/economic issue than even a moral one (by most accounts), my parents were curious (and unaware) of England's policy of buying and freeing slaves. The ten-second sound bites and one-line headlines that the MSM are distributing might make Dr. Paul sound "fringe" but to anybody who actually saw/listened, his words were very persuasive. My parents still watch FOX News but are growing to really like Ron Paul. Go Ron Go!

I have been a supporter of Ron Paul for quite a while.Nearly time for celebration though unfortunately a vast number of citizens are barely back from work in order to make ends meet in this great land of ours. I am

In his battles to restore our country to what it once was he will endure many such attacks by despicable entities the likes of B .Kristol and i urge all of you who have written here to familiarize yourselves with this entity who is not worthy of human being classification . I'm not going to get into an argument about whether or not Abraham Lincoln was or was not a great President. What I find amazing is that when Ron Paul talked about the civil war, he gave me an education. Ron is an incredible intellectual and he's committed to non-violence. I was a little shocked at first, but after letting it sink in, I think Ron is a genius. His answers to our problems, past, present and future, are out-of-the-box and right on target. Asking why we had to fight a civil war over slavery when no other nation did is chilling. Asking why we couldn't just buy the slaves and free them makes so much sense.
Regarding the MTP interview, I expected Russert to rehash all the same old stuff we've been seeing, but he touched on some new areas and I learned a lot about Ron that I didn't already know. And 100% of what I learned made me want to support Ron even more.

back in thier court if given the chance during a interview. When they ask him some lame civil war question, he should just say, " how about we talk about the issues facing this country " Like the reccession, the declining dollar etc.

I know Dr. Paul did not have this intention in mind , but do you think this will help him in South Carolina and Florida ? I would like to hear from Dr. Paul fans in those two states or anywhere in the South.

Emotion is a very dangerous human asset. What Ron said was very rational, you can have a different opinion on his view of the reason for the civil war, but you can not say, if you have a minimun of decency, that because of his view he is a "crackpot", a "crank" or he "hates America" This individual,Bill Kristol, in my opinion, is not even being driven by emotion, he is being driven by his personal agenda, and the agenda of those who reward him economically. Ron Paul has many powerful enemies that want to protect the money and power they get through their political influence, and they will use every thing at their disposal to make sure that he does not get elected. It is up to us to make sure they fail.

Then drive to Aiken, South Carolina to the University of South Carolina's new Convocation center. Be there by 6 PM for a Rally sponsored by the Aiken County Republican Party. Sounds unimportant? Well it's not. All the Republican candidates will be invited to speak and a straw poll will be held. Residents of South Carolina and Georgia will be allowed to vote.
The South Carolina Republican Preference Primaries will follow 48 hours later on Saturday the 19th. MSM will probably be there to cover the rally and possibly the RP blimp will fly overhead. They're Afraid of the Good Doctor
Since they don't have anything concrete to report on Dr. Paul, they've resorted to name calling. Now you know they're afraid. I use to watch FOX news until I heard them say things about Dr. Paul that were totally untrue. It was a real eye opener, because up until that time I had been a believer in their "Fair and Balanced" catch phrase. Watching the moderators during the FOX debates just confirmed it even more so. FOX is nothing but a HACK news agency with absolutely no morals or truths about what they report. Rupert Murdoch is known for his tactics to influence politics through his news organizations. Their are many ex-employees of FOX who have provided insite into the methods Rupert uses to distort the news at FOX. They all have an agenda that doesn't have America in it's bet interest.

Well Fox News started out pretty good t they reported stuff that would never make the news a year before, and they were the balance to a leftist dominated media. However it has been bait and switch they lured viewers in with some pretty balanced reporting in the beginning and then when they gained some trust they began the BS we now see them do and it has gotten steadily worse. Ron Paul does sometimes make crazy statements, even if they are logical. He can't bash every Republican statesman in history and say he is the "only true Republican" Regan and Lincoln are just off limits - it was a rookie move.... think we should have all expect blow back on those statements.

Russert Brought It Up
and Ron answered. I'd like to see the other contenders be asked the same question. I can see it now:
"I think we should have killed a million Americans for slavery"
"We could have cut short the war through torture"
"The war had to be fought. Lincoln had no choice but to go to war."
"The South would still have slavery today if we hadn't had that glorious war."
The reality of the Civil War is so much different than what is portrayed. Freedom unites and statism divides. If anything, the war hurt race relations in both the North and the South. The blacks in the South were effectively slaves till the 1960s Civil Rights movement. The war did not lead to the emancipation of blacks as most are brainwashed people think.
I am a transplanted Northerner myself. It is interesting that the most racism I ever saw was in the North, not the South. I have experienced both worlds. The South by far is more civilized than the North.

They are correct from our point of view - Dr. Paul however is running for the Republican Party. Not sure when you joined the party but there are two people you just don't badmouth - and he bashed both. Right or wrong there will be blow back from those statements. The vast majority of American considers Regan a hero and 99.9% of the base does as well. It was the worst part of the interview from my standpoint.
It makes Ron Paul look crazy when he bashes on of the most popular presidents of all time.... heck, even the Dems. won't do it.

First of all, Ron Paul
First of all, Ron Paul doesn't bash anyone. He simply criticizes their policy or actions. He's apparently quite fond of Robert Taft and I also believe he isn't adverse to Grover Cleveland and more recently Barry Goldwater. I'm willing to go out on a limb here and state that he probably even has critique on certain actions of theirs.
Second of all, I personally don't see anything wrong with calling Bush 41 a bum and doubting in 2000 whether Bush 43 was an actual conservative. Perhaps he should have voted "the party line" on that one, but then again I don't see anyone using that against him (you didn't actually mention them in your post either). Concerning Reagan, there are a couple of articles from the Ludwig von Mises Institute that might give you some insight into Ron Paul's reasoning:

And last but not least, I thought it was a typo but you spelled Reagan's name wrong twice. Them Reaganites don't fancy a person that can't spell their idols name right.
He Was Right
Reagan did fail to live up to his campaign promises. Did the Federal Govt. remain the same size from 1980-1988?
Lincoln did make the wrong decision. Remember that the Civil War was not actually about slavery in the beginning. It was about forcing the Southern States to stay in the Federal Government. Lincoln should have negotiated and worked through the problems, but no, he decided to kill and maim over a million people. The repercussions of his choice are still felt today. Is that the sort of man you want your son to be, a man who is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people?
