Gold Inventory
Submitted by Amvet on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 08:02If some of our gold bars are fake, it is most likely that they are tungsten with a gold coating, otherwise, weight would should identify the fakes.
Tungsten has almost the same density as pure gold but tungsten is much harder. Therefore, a quick check could be to tap each bar with a small hammer and measure the vibration frequencies given off. This should be checked. If it works it would be quick and cost almost nothing. Amvet
