A Daily Paul TV Commercial for Ron Paul? Do you think the time has come?

Here is an idea for all of us on the DP.

Lets pool our own money for two very SPECIFIC Television Commercials for Ron Paul. At the end of the commercial, we ask TV viewers to send in their donations to CONTINUE buying airtime to broadcast the commercial. Yes, make the donations pay for continual broadcasting. "Circular funding", self perpetuating political ads... that is the wave of the future, lets catch that wave!

The point is, I want see the financial vehicle created where I and others can send in money for two SPECIFIC television commercial.

Here are the two commercials. One is a late night early morning info-politicalmercial...
Ron Paul 2012: Who's Laughing Now? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvmFw6i7x1A

The other is fast and sweet: "Spread the Message" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H0OI-wUcSU

Who did this cartoon for Ron Paul? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMxca8hhGhs&feature=related

Can you in the DP community help me with this goal? Frankly I just want to send my money in and let others handle the rest. Sorry, but its true. But then I realized, there must be thousands of people just like me, wanting to send their money in for a SPECIFIC commercial or two, and then wanting to see it on TV. It would give me and others great satisfaction to see the Commercial that we funded on TV. Heck, once I see it on TV, I and perhaps a million others will make the call to the 1800 at the end of the video and make still another money contribution "To Keep Spreading this Message"

Surely there are those out there who know one piece of the puzzle. How to buy TV airtime. How to get the video over to the TV company. How to make sure the bills get paid. More over, how to use Google Docs to OPENLY show how each and every penny is accounted for and spent.

It can be done.... but will this be done is up to you.

For those of you who are a bit frustrated with the RP campaign, what they do and don't do, this is YOUR way of getting OUR message of liberty out there.

For those of you who don't feel the Campaign for Liberty will spend your donation wisely, this is YOUR way of getting OUR message of liberty out there.

For those of you who just WANT TO GIVE BACK to our beloved Dr Ron Paul, for all he has DONE for YOU and Me,.......... lets give Dr Paul and the Campaign a GIFT of paid commercials from the R3VOLution!

Can you imagine Dr Paul answering Wolf Blitzer's questions, "Did your campaign pay or have anything to with those TV commercials?" ---- "No Wolf, we had nothing to do with it. We were as surprised as everyone else. But I must say we are pleased that the grassroots are making their voices heard".

Lets make our voices heard....

In peace and liberty,
Treg

If the DP is too 'loony

If the DP is too 'loony toons', then why are you a part of it? This is the first Ron Paul site I went to, so it is a great 'entry point' for folks new to the movement. And your suggestion that increasing traffic to the Daily Paul is 'not necessarily a good thing' is appalling. And just remember, Ron Paul is a regular guest on Alex's show. Are you saying Dr. Paul is 'loony toons' (your spelling, btw).

Why hasn't anyone else called this guy out?

Oh, and congratulations on your 3 week anniversary of Daily Paul membership coming up tomorrow!

My boss was doing ads on TV

My boss was doing ads on TV for $12 a second. He did 30 second commercials and 15 second commercials.

Reminds me.
During Martial Law back in Poland we could not buy air time...we simply placed transmitters on some tall buildings and let people listen to Radio Solidarnosc this way...big bro was jamming the signal after a time but even with jamming many folks in Warsaw were able to access truth on their radios at home.

Nice idea

There is also a discussion on the Ron Paul Forums about a grassroots ad:

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?300696-Grassroot...

I had a nice long talk with Chris Rye yesteday, the director of 'For Liberty.' He does extremely high quality work, as anyone who has seen the film knows. Quality is obviously going to be an issue. I know of few others in the movement with that level of skill & commitment. I let him know about this thread also and the part I find most interesting:

At the end of the commercial, we ask TV viewers to send in their donations to CONTINUE buying airtime to broadcast the commercial. Yes, make the donations pay for continual broadcasting. "Circular funding", self perpetuating political ads... that is the wave of the future, lets catch that wave!

I believe the way the current project is working is that production is a volunteer effort, then people would chip in to have the commercials aired in different media markets.

It can be done - definitely. It would take time & commitment, and needs a champion - someone who will take charge of the project, coordinate it, keep everyone posted and everything on schedule.

Is anyone here willing to step up and take on that challenge?

He's the man.

I love

the idea! Seems like there's a lot of "legal ramifications" that need sorted out, though. May I ask for how long these would be aired...and where exactly they would be aired? If this comes to fruition and will be aired at "appropriate" locales, I could contribute a very small amount monthly. By appropriate I mean, for instance, NOT in Timbuktu--a commercial broadcast in Timbuktu would NOT help get Ron Paul elected, I don't think...

Bump for a great idea!

The Blimp Model

I'm with you on wishing we had a decentralized ad system with pre-made ads, and a click to run it. I even wanted one where you could choose which ad to run in your own area. Cable ads are relatively cheap, and local.

Meet-ups could adopt an ad campaign and run ads locally.

With the Blimp business model, they sold ads, and people paid for minutes of ad time. This way no campaign finance reporting came into play.

If someone were to set this up, thousands of individuals would buy the right to download ads to their local cable channel.

What fun!

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

you would have to get copyright clearances remember

and the first one has a lot of For Liberty in it. I think it is great and tweet it all the time, but just so you know, the guys who made For Liberty and High Tide are right now working on a grassroots commercial for Iowa. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?300696-Grassroot...

by the way, they have made a new edited version of For Liberty, cut down to an hour, with an updated ending that is spectacular.

Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesnt want to hear -RonPaul

The 2nd TV commercial has no copywrite release issues...

I hope.

Who is an expert at getting Copywrite Releases?

That then is the question.

There are MANY experts needed to make this happen.

I just hope and hope others step up to the plate to do their small but IMPORTANT part to the over all plan.

Best of all, if we can just do it ONE TIME... then the door is wide OPEN to do it ALL THE TIME... why we could be spreading the message of Liberty even when there is no election.

Now how powerful is that? !!!!

Releases

Releases start with identifying where each piece of footage came from, who shot it, and whether they got releases from the people portrayed, or whether they weren't needed.

I used to work in the legal department of a movie studio, and the lawyers who do this stuff were aided by a whole department.

The For Liberty videographers are pros, and probably had permission to use their footage from the interviewees for the film. That permission probably does not apply to its use to endorse a political candidate (though they may well want to). That means someone has to go back to each one.

The crowd shots of rallies, because they were in public, may be okay to use, but you still need permission of the photographers. The For Liberty makers using the footage from YouTube, because they were transforming it for use in a documentary and only using bits and commenting on it ("fair use"), may be safe in using it, but putting it into a "commercial" promoting a candidate might not have the same protection because those people have a right not to promote someone against their wills.

I'm not a lawyer, but you get the idea. I also expect that the TV station will want someone to indemnify them against lawsuits, which puts that person on the hook if there are complaints.

Just DON'T make a commercial

I live in N.H.

and the first time I saw this commercial I cried. But, on the good side I had been talking to someone about Paul and she saw the commercial and fell in love with him and I think later on became a delegate. So it wasn't all that bad. LOL! O.K. forget my last sentence.

What a horrible ad.

I cant believe they even let this get on the air. You NEVER NEVER NEVER start out a message to convince people to vote for you with "I dont always agree with him". No one agrees with anyone 100% of the time (usually) but you dont bring it up in your campaign ad. The people in this ad seemed to be saying forced lines. I would much rather have him say the lines in the ad because it will come across as much more genuine.

He's catchin' on, I'm tellin'

I like this idea

Ron seriously needs to get with someone inside the campaign and make some good political ads. I dont understand why this hasnt happened yet. We can go on all day about what we want him to say or how we would fund airing commercials but its up to him and the campaign to do this. The strange thing to me is that they dont even have to put them on the air anywhere, just make some, put them online, we can spread them around and then we can choose which ones are the best and tell the campaign which are the best ones to run in the primary states.

http://youtu.be/HHybC0feMLM

In this video for instance there are certain time periods that would make an excellent 30-45 second ad. Especially the point between 1:50 and 2:30. Listen to it and tell me an ad with that message wouldn't win over voters.

Not a TV viewer, but I'm bumping for

anyone who might be able to evaluate this idea better than I.

Thanks for the Bump!

It will take others to make this idea become real...
