Happy 4th! Listen at Daily Paul Radio
I like Kevin but...
...I'm not sure that I understand his support of the Initiative and Referendum process.
The founders warned repeatedly about the danger of direct democracy. The I and R process never took hold in this country until the beginning of the 20th century.
Kevin wrote a book entitled, 'Who Killed the Constitution'. I kind of expected it to be one of the issues that he would discuss in the book, but when I asked him about it he said that he supports the I and R process.
It seems to me that it has been used to violate individual liberties on a number of occasions through "mob rule". Proposition 8 in California being a notable example.
Am I missing something here? I just can't find any support for it from anyone associated with the founding. In fact, I seem to find exactly the opposite.
Can someone correct my confusion?
Nice Job
