Time - Debt Ceiling: Could Ron Paul's Plan Save Us From Disaster, Twice?

I'm glad to see some articles out there praising Dr. Paul's ideas. Here's another really well written article. Hilariously, it actually points out how insane our government policy is.

But nonetheless, if the government regularly used the Fed to create money to buy up its debt rather than paying it off, it seems wrong. The optics are bad. "It smacks of the third world," says Allan Meltzer, a Fed historian. "It's what Zimbabwe would do."

Think they Got Ron wrong

After reading two articles talking about Ron's idea, I think they got his idea wrong.

In both instances they talk as if Ron wants to eliminate the fed debt so that we have some room to add more debt. Even this article said it would allow us to not raise the debt ceiling... for a year or more!

I doubt Ron Paul would talk like that.

Great catch! It is called framing the argument.

Politicians do this with the assistance of the mass-media all of the time. For example: it is not a question of should we be in Libya, but of how involved we should be. It is not a question of cutting spending, but of how high we should raise the debt limit. Artificial pressure is added with the threat of fear: the government will default if we don't raise the debt limit. There will be total chaos if we don't keep spending more than we take in revenues. Terrorists will kill us all for our freedoms if we don't have full body cavity search's and get cancer from x-ray machines.

Comments at the end

of the article are overwhelmingly positive for Ron Paul!
I'm really getting the feeling that we are seeing a great awakening taking hold in this country. Maybe God is giving us one last chance to turn this country around.

Quinquagenarians for Ron Paul! Who says that you can't teach old dogs new tricks?

I am also

getting the feeling that we are seeing a great awakening taking hold in this country!

Reverend Charles M. Sheldon first asked What would Jesus Do? in an 1896 novel entitled In His Steps. Sheldon was an advocate for the Social Gospel, which sought to situate Jesus in his own culture and insisted that his life and teachings should guide the way Christians live their own lives in a very different culture.
The novel is set in the fictional mid-western city of Raymond. It begins with the arrival of an out of work stranger, who, after a week of unsuccessfully seeking employment among church members, interrupts the Sunday service to ask the startled members what it meant for them to follow Jesus in their daily lives. And then he collapsed and died! In the Sunday evening service, the pastor challenged his congregation to answer the strangers question, to pledge that for a year, before making any major decision, they would first ask, What Would Jesus Do? And in doing just that, soon the members of that congregation began to transform their city for the better...

In the case of those of us who are not of the 'Christian' persuasion, the question, What would Ron Paul Do?, can be substituted for very similar results! Yes, we CAN help Ron Paul transform our country for the better!

+1, for reminder,

& sanity, social service, & betterment.
with salute to Sheldon.

The important teaching of all apostles would be the same as in Matthew 12:34-37, i.e to speak good, & be truthful.
Removal of confusion automatically leads to betterment.

Ron Paul raises hopes because he does not hold back his knowledge, he shares, = lecturing, giving interviews, writing books, even warns about the negative consequences of bad policies, voting with principles, - so people can sense that he cares, sincerely.

good find
