Is Ron Paul the GOP’s Chuck Norris? (Daily Paul Mentioned)

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.), an official candidate for the GOP presidential nomination, has been delivering roundhouse kicks to a number of government organizations in recent weeks. Just this last week, Paul slammed the TSA for “government ineptitude and indifference” and introduced the American Traveler Dignity Act of 2011 to combat what he called airport security’s “sorry situation.” Throughout June, Paul decried President Obama’s use of military force in Libya and beat up on the Federal Reserve for mishandling the U.S.’s monetary policy and the gold at Fort Knox.

Paul, who is well-known for his frankness about his Libertarian beliefs, seems to be acquiring the character of Chuck Norris. Norris, who is famous for his role in “Walker, Texas Ranger” and numerous action movies, always played characters who shot from the hip. The same characteristic is widely recognized in Paul by his grassroots supporters. Fan sites such as the Daily Paul and RonPaul.com have been responsible for generating a lot of grassroots support for the Texas Congressman’s presidential campaign.

I dont really like it

when people associate jokes with Ron Paul's name. just cuz it is decreditizing, but just this time Ill be cool with it cuz chuck norris said in an interview with alex jones that the only politician he trusts is Ron Paul. even though alex jones is a fear mongering misinforming idiot. still awesome on chuck norris' part.

To shoot from the hip

can not be what the writer of this article meant to say. That is not a compliment - it means to speak with out forethought.

Certainly NOT a characteristic of Ron Paul.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms. Ron Paul

It can also mean someone who is apolitical and tells the truth like it is.

From UrbanDictionary.com:

1. shoot from the hip

an expression which suggests the described person
a. speaks or behaves in a brusque, honest fashion
b. does not censor their actions or words
c. speaks tersely; communicates with the fewest number of words

cf. to be brutally honest; to tell it like it is; to pull no punches

deriv. (Old West--when a person who 'shot from the hip' pulled their trigger in a proper draw (ie from a hip holster.) This is in direct contrast to a person who arrived to the gunfight with guns drawn. By extension, a person who 'shoots from the hip' possesses the positive quality of handling a situation in the prescribed mode.)

I really like Vin Diesel's character; he sure shoots from the hip, boy!

2. shoot from the hip

1.To make a decision or execute an action in the spur of the moment.

2.A quick reaction

"woah, joe had to shoot from the hip when that teacher woke him up and asked him a question"
