Greatest Congressman Ever
Submitted by RobertPaul on Tue, 07/12/2011 - 14:19.
I am very proud of my Father's record. As other people have said, I will miss his amazing floor speeches. What he has done for freedom is un-matched in his lifetime. I know he will make a great President. I am a little sad with this news, but it means we will have to work harder for freedom-minded leaders in Congress. I celebrate the Greatest Congressman ever and look forward to his presidency. - Robert PaulRand's Statement on this

“History will record the legislative record of Ron Paul as an extraordinary one – perhaps unparalleled. There probably has never been a more consistent believer in limited government in Congress. America deserves a statesman like Ron Paul as her president, a man I am proud to call my father.”

Ron is passing the Torch of Liberty to...
son Rand, bringing our fight to the Upper Chamber..the Senate.
With that said, I feel sad at the same time of Ron Paul leaving his pivotal congressional seat.
But for now, all should be focused and united (no doubt)..Ron Paul, POTUS for 2012!!
Ron sounds calm and focused
Ron sounds calm and focused in the interviews he's given since his announcement. Perhaps he feels a burden has been lifted from his shoulders.
“Wasting a vote is sometimes voting for somebody that you don't really believe in."

Debra Medina
Time for Debra Medina to step up and form a congressional committee for the 14th Congressional Seat of Texas.
I would be proud to have her in Congress taking over the reins of Ron Paul
Does she qualify to run?
Meaning, don't you have to live in that district? Does she?
That would be WONDERFUL if she did run. She'd win, cuz she'd tap into Ron Paul's network, and have his endorsement.
"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford
That means....
he will have the perfect amount of time to set up for a run for Texas governor if he doesn't win the presidency. Which he has expressed before as something he would be interested in. :)
If he becomes governor of Texas then I might just move there.
He could end up being president of a newly restored Republic of Texas... :D
.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~
So does anyone know
Does Robert Paul live in his district?
Robert Paul
Lives in Rep. Kay Grangers district I think. I think he could beat that neo-con TARP queen hands down and I think there is still time for him to run in 2012. He lives in Fort Worth Tx.
Could people of 14th district
Could people of 14th district write him in even though he's not on the ballot?
That would be so cool if he wins by write-in!... regardless of whether he chooses to serve or not.
Would that be a historical first? Now that would be a proper send off for this great man.
...winning the Presidency.

Makes sense. He won't be able
Makes sense. He won't be able to be a congressman when he wins.
If he somehow loses, then what's the point in even being a congressman anymore. If the masses are too stupid not to wake up after Obama and Bush then they deserve everything they get.
I saw a nice RP2012 banner on Drudge
I know the banners rotate, but I happened to see it just now :-)

2012, we want our country back
2012 is the year for Ron Paul!
He will leave a huge hole in
He will leave a huge hole in the very small group of good congressmen, however I know he did not make this decision lightly and surely he has very big things planned.
Go Ron go!

Outstanding news
I, like others will miss his floor speeches. Put all those chips in Paul. The GOP has no choice now. The establishment cannot ignore him. The GOP media arms cannot ignore him. He can, and I believe would, be a spoiler. Its about the message and the movement. F the GOP.
I see two things if he doesn't win (which I think he will)
VP
Sec treasury.
They cannot ignore him
He has already been vetted.

good way to balance
I think he has to balance his important role as chairman with his presidential campaign. Adding on to the list with a congressional run wouldnt work.
Yes, I remember the last time - he had to run back to Texas in
the middle of his prez campaign to run his congressional campaign; running two campaigns at the same time - it was crazy. I don't blame him at all and I fully trust any decision he makes. He is very much wiser about his career than any of us could ever be. He will do the right thing!

the wsj title reads as if it's the fed scoring a point
i am sure it's intentional. pretty pathetic
Both Happy and Sad
Happy because it means his chances of winning the presidency are increased.
Sad because frankly, those chances are still small; Knowing Ron Paul will not be in government, casting the lone dissenting vote against so many nonsense bills in Congress, no more in my lifetime. This is actually heartbreaking for me.
There are others in Congress with a similar mindset...but there are none like Ron, and none who will have his longevity, steady resolve, and commitment to purpose.
As I've said before on these boards: This election, in my mind, has the potential to be the end of America in the near term, if not forever. If Ron is not elected, the coming years will be brutal and tragically dismal for the great majority of Americans; the 'last, best hope' that was America, and could be again, is poised for extinction. Without Ron, it will be for future generations, and not mine, that liberty will once again prevail for honest men - perhaps not in America, perhaps not on this world, but somewhere in this universe.
Wow - that is profound and poignant Achilles. I could not have
expressed it better. However, I'm sure Ron will continue to be involved in the freedom movement even if he's "retired" - he has pledged to work for liberty 'till his last breath. I'm sure IF he doesn't win the presidency, he will continue to be involved in C4L and his FREE foundation and other such things. Maybe he'll write more books. I believe we will still hear from him a great deal, and though others will run for office, he will still be the leader of the liberty movement as long as he is alive and beyond. I just feel we are so fortunate to have been woken up and to have been able to participate in this great Statesman's two presidential campaigns.

Surprisingly...
The Huffington Post's comment section is remarkably favorable for Ron Paul. Or at least, as my friend puts it, "for a liberal spamfest."
Even their "SuperUsers" seem to show respect for RP, if nothing than for his voting record and unshakeable stances.

This is great news!!! We may
This is great news!!! We may have our first Libertarian president in 2012 if he doesn't get the republican nomination. He can now officially run as an independent.
Am I wrong?
One third of voters are independent and growing.
If anything this should
If anything this should invigorate the movement. Ron is going all in on this final bet, and we should too.
Agreed!!

While this news is on the surface very sad
to think RP will not represent and be there to take a stand against all the other critters. But, it will be nice to know that we can vote 100% across the board to remove every representative. If the "Get Out Of Our House" movement gets moving - ditch em all. However, the good news is Ron Paul is full on with this presidential run. (and in his pocket he could run Indie or third for the sake of the philosophy to keep the message at the forefront) yes will only hurt the GOP - so they had better get behind RP 2012 NOW.
RP 2012
Sloppy thinking has no place ...
... in this movement. If you cannot identify this, you probably cannot be useful on any issue.
"ditch em all". Really?
Pointless, aimless, self-destructive rage. I have enough to do without also fighting against the good people. "ditch em all" includes Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Justin Amash, Jim DeMint and all other good people. Duh.
We will not win anything, anywhere, anytime if we cannot think our way through such simple issues.
I still don't agree with the "Get Out of Our House" idea to
"remove all 435 members of Congress". First of all, this has up to now, included Ron Paul, and secondly, there are some other good members, like Walter Jones and Justin Amash and a few others, who are valuable. We need all the honest members we can get!
