Thank You Dr. PaulSubmitted by Chuckduck764 on Tue, 07/12/2011 - 21:54
As I hope many other Paul supporters agree, I have a bitter-sweet feeling toward Congressman Paul's announcement to not seek re-election to congress. I am absolutely thrilled that he is focusing 100% on the presidency and that he is in it to win it. However, I am sad to see that the champion of the Constitution is moving on from Congress.
We will hear no more speechs on how our currency is being devalued. No more lectures on how endless wars actually grow the size of government and cause more harm than good. Never again will we see the ultimate defender of liberty stand before the House of Representatives, talking about how our basic freedoms our disappearing and the dire consequences of our Constitution being violated. No longer will we hear about the 434 to 1 votes that took place in Washington. It is as if the flame of liberty is starting to go out in this great nation.
I'm sure I speak for all Paul supporters when I say that we will never forget what you have done for America, Ron. We will never forget how you have dedicated your political career to defending the very ideas that this country once stood for. We will always remember your military service in which you fought for this country, your medical practice in which you brought new life into the world, and your political career in which you have stood up for all of our rights. Throughout the years, you have warned us about the dangerous path we were on and how to lead us back to prosperity. You have educated us about sound money, non-interventionism, free markets, and most importantly: liberty. The halls of the House Chamber will never be the same again without the echoing sound of your voice calling for the restoration of freedom.
But we must look at the end of this chapter as a new beginning. Even though Ron is moving on from Congress, he still has an excellent shot at taking the presidency. Now more then ever, the message of liberty is resonating with the American people. They are sick and tired of the status quo and want real change in Washington. That is why it must be our goal and our top priority to get this man into the White House. People, this is possible. I know that I was not here among you in 2008, but if we can reunite through the grassroots effort like we did in the previous presidential election cycle, but with ten times the energy, I know that we can win this. Remember; it will not be easy. It was not easy when the founders fought against tyranny in the 1700's. It was not easy when Gandhi stood up to the imperialists for Indian independence. But the hardest part is over. We no longer have to worry about Ron being excluded from debates and we no longer have to fear other politicians calling Ron crazy and out of touch. When I watched the CNN debate, I think that it is fair to say that every candidate on that stage referenced Ron Paul's statements at least once. The ideas of liberty are continuing to spread, and it must be our goal to bring Ron into the White House, for the sake of the country. And let me say with complete confidence: Ron Paul WILL be the next president of the United States if we truly give this everything we have got.
Let me conclude by saying that we must be confident in Dr. Paul. We must be confident that he will be in the White House in January of 2013. But I know I speak for all of us when I say that your service to this country and to the cause of liberty will not go unnoticed. And most importantly, you have been successful. Just think, 10 years ago, no one would have thought that Federal Reserve Chairman would have to give a public news conference. We all owe you thanks for your time in Congress and look forward to you serving as the 45th president of the Untied States of America.
Thank you Dr. Paul.
