Mitch McConnel's Bizarre Plan: Transfer authority over debt ceiling limit from Congress to Obama

From the WTF? department:

WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) floated a novel way out of default Tuesday, suggesting that Congress give up its power to raise the debt ceiling, and instead effectively transfer that authority -- and the political pain that comes with it -- to the White House for the remainder of Obama's current term.

Great. Congress abdicating more of its authority and responsibility to the president. Just what we need. NOT.

Treachery is a prime requisite for a Senate GOP Leader.

Senate Minority Whip Hugh Scott sabotaged the Goldwater campaign in 1964. Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole revived the Brady Gun Control Bill when it was "dead on arrival" in the Senate. Senator Dole also later sabotaged the GOP "Contract With America" Freshman class in 1995 and nearly cost the GOP the House in 1976. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott sabotaged the Clinton Impeachment and McConnell helped George W. Bush burden us with "No Child Left Behind" and the Medicare Prescription Medicine Plan. No wonder some many people hate Republicans.

It must be dementia setting in

Time to retire Mitch.

Here Is A "Better" Plan !

Give the authority of working out a debt limit plan to the financial sub-committee chairman, since he has many more years experience on these financial committees, than the President, and has written several books on finances, sound money, and economics.

Who would that be?

The next President of the USA:

DANG! What a wonderful

DANG! What a wonderful IDEA!!!! Just let that committee DO it! Blame them!

This would be so awesome I know they would never do it..what a great way to get it off their backs though..LOL

Substance never matters with these guys. It's all posturing and voice inflection

"My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them".
Senator Barry Goldwater, Senator Rand Paul
and others.

“The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.”

– Thomas Jefferson

"Political Pain"? WHAT Pain? How's that pain??!

"Political Pain"? WHAT Pain? How's that pain??!

Giving Emperor Nero (Obama) Carte Blanche to charge every American's future to death is NOT transferring the pain!

For McConnell, its a tired old man abdicating what little responsibility he still has to a dictator.

For the President, its a gift from Heaven without strings attached.

This is beyond sensible.

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

It's too bad

Mitch doesn't have Senator Trey to hold his coat for him while he bows to the Obammunist agenda.

This should be front page.

This should be front page. I've been saying for a week that Obama being in 6 countries without a declaration of war coupled with raising financies without congressional approval is the last step to the dictatorship.

These are the two powers Obama needs to do anything he wants without congress.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Oh yeah, real genius! Why

Oh yeah, real genius! Why didn't we think of that -duh!

Anyone here want to start a Recall on him?

This is bad acting

listen to boehner:
"The Speaker shares the Leader's frustration," he said in an email. "Republicans are unified in our commitment to ensuring that the debt limit is not used as leverage to saddle small businesses with increased taxes that destroy jobs."

Doesn't that sound like a line out of a cheap low budget movie? I mean, that isn't convincing at all - 'you are the hero of small business protecting them from taxes'. I don't believe you at all! BECAUSE YOU ARE PROPOSING TO GIVE UP ANY POWER YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY DO THAT!

boehner will probably end up speaking out against it. This is obviously a way to float it out there and judge the reaction. It's like "hey mikey, why don't you go out there and say this, see if they like it, see if they bite, you know if the feedback isn't too bad, we'll go with it."

It reaks of desperation, and it's like police chief grady says "desperation is a stinky cologne". This just reaks. I mean they really think, just giving up is going to go over? This political class is pathetic.

When it is 100% not

When it is 100% not 'politically' possible for a particular party to advance an establishment agenda, they simply fold the authority to the party that can get away with it. The War, now the debt ceiling.

great idea! Obama could

great idea! Obama could raise it to 50 trillion right off the bat.

Hell, They'll just get rid of

it all together!

Here is the announcement:

"Debt Ceilings are really a burden for the past, like the gold standard. We are trying to move past the ages of child labor and unfit working conditions, and the debt ceiling represented that. You don't want us all to go back and live in the stone ages do you?"

of course

Only a RINO would make such an outlandish suggestion.

Unbelieveable, is Mitch on any medications? ;)

So now the President will be able to start wars AND

borrow to pay for them all on his own?

Hell, why do we need a Congress anymore?

Let's just abolish that entirely and save headache - let the popular vote pick the president, and then be done with it - he gets to do whatever the hell he wants for four years.

[/ sarcasm]

These sociopaths will try anything to make government bigger

and then point to someone else as being responsible for it.

This guy must be so accustomed to schemes that he actually believes he can get away with them.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

Isn't it clear now that the

Isn't it clear now that the Congress is just an adjunct to the Imperial Presidency?

malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

I am an aristocrat. I love liberty; I hate equality. - John Randolph of Roanoke

Doesn't All Of Congress Have To Vote On His Plan?

Let's see what Dr. Paul says about this un-Constitutional plan.

There needs to be a grassroots consensus.

It's pretty simple. What do you think government should do?
Fire away.

I think Government should only mediate disputes between offenders and victims. However, if there is no victim, then where is the offender? The state? That's an open question now, however, not at the federal level. Federally (nationally) there is no jurisdiction in personal/local/state matters. None at all unless they're charged with defense and regulation of an equitable currency.

On the Ed Show, Ed said that

On the Ed Show, Ed said that Boehner and Rigomortis Mitch McConnell (is he actually alive) received demands from over 400 of the Republican's top donors to cave in to Obama. I hope all the Tea Party people, and the Christian right will see that the GOP establishment is filled with phonies. Cantor, Mitchell, Boehner, etc. All phonies!
