What's the best way to handle a troll?

There's a troll A Lincoln who settled down on an article about Ron Paul in Eagle Tribune:

He keeps saying that Paul is a racist, and everyone who's supporting Ron Paul has been bought. He has about 20%-30% of total comments which are generally positive about Paul.

In the comments, somebody suggested that he is actually a Ron Paul supporter showing how stupid the opposition is, others suggest to ignore him.

Is there a better way to handle him? Given that obviously there's no policing of the comments on the site.

People here attack unpopular posts by attacking the poster

Just like the MSM does. I guess that is just the way it is in general.

Discredit the troll and it doesn't matter what the troll says.

According to Wikipedia?

"A Scandinavian folk belief that lightning frightens away trolls."

All I can hear now is...

Lightning Bolt! Lightning Bolt! Lightning Bolt!

Enjoy the Revolution!

Somewhere there are men planning the next destructive and evil ploy to make this world their own... The common man is not part of that plan as we would see fit... Merely pawns to be used against one another.

Maybe that's why I'm seeing so many trolls lately...

We haven't had any lightning or rain in a few months... :O)

I give up.

What's the best way to deal with you?

Just troll them back. Most people who troll are pretty bad at it anyway.

There are about a billion ways to do it; sockpuppets, raids, posting personal info, etc. but all that's kinda nerdy so just play mind games with them. ;)

A signature used to be here!

As for Ron Paul and him being racist. . .

I've had a few run ins about that too and sadly it's almost always a racist that sees, blames or even thinks of Ron Paul and racism.
They usually come to this conclusion or feebly attempt to backup their statement by misconstruing what happened in '04 with the 40 year celebration of the Civil Rights Act. Ron Paul was the only one in Congress who didn't support celebrating the growing of the federal government. You can find his statement here:

Racism can only be removed by lots of patience, love and a bigger understanding.

Q: What's the best way to handle a troll?

A: The only way to successfully 'handle' a troll is to find the bridge in which the troll lives, then journey yourself under it, encounter it and 'convert' it. Depending on the level, battles vs trolls can take alot time & energy so I recommend you choose wisely.
I warn that taking such action can be dangerous because it may be you who is defeated *ahem* 'converted'.
As to how big and strong the troll is, well it almost always depends on how high and big the bridge is. If the bridge is much higher/bigger than you then most likely you are at best going to learn something worthwhile ----> at worst you'll be annihilated.

The Best that Can Be Done

Just expose them as a troll and then ignore them, other than to occasionally reiterate the exposure as a troll.

I usually always post this.

hope this helps, since you can't reason with trolls.

That's what

I give to trolls too. I love that link!
