The disinformation will cost ron paul the election , he needs to use the media

Simple fact is i run into people online daily who say "oh that guy wants to repeal the civil rights act" or "oh ya , shutting down the DOE would mean all public schools would close down."

The ignorance of the american people is astounding when it comes to politics in general , all it usually boils down to is a popularity contest and ron paul sadly wont be able to win this election using conventional state campaigning.

If anybody on this forum has direct access to ron paul or his campaign people , we need him to start educating the people on his plans. People dont know what the "Fed" is , so when they hear him talking about shutting everything down people get scared and think he is a radical.

People need to know how his plans will change the economy and how it will benefit the people.

Why cant he spend a big chunk of his money for an hour long special on fox or cnn or something where he explains all of these plans out so more simple people can understand.

Because right now on fox while he appears often , he is overshadowed by people like bachmann and whoever else is running.

He wont win this with word of mouth alone , and when he explains his plans he never explains the outcomes of the decisions so people not familiar with his policies will think he is a radical because other canidates dont mention ANY of these things in their debates.

Does anyone have access to him to inform him of this?

If Ron Paul had friends in

If Ron Paul had friends in the media, and the media thoroughly and impartially explained the issues to the public, President Paul would already be in office. Trouble is, Ron Paul does not have many friends in the media, and the media never thoroughly and impartially explain the issues to the public. They have an agenda, and Ron Paul is a threat to that agenda - ergo, they will never support him. Never.

That's where we come in. This is our struggle. The r3volution is a genuine grassroots movement of the people against the corrupt media and political establishment, we cannot and should not expect any help from our enemies; the r3volution will not be televised.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

There are a lot of people here

I suggest that if Ron Paul doesn't win the presidency, all of us pool our money together and start our own cable channel. It would be anti-zionist, anti-banker and pro libertarian news channel. We'll expose every one in the news media on a daily basis and show how they play favorites.

We spent a lot of money on the brochures so I'm sure we can all be share holders in a cable company.

Maybe a big donor would help us out too.

Re: The Disinformation...

I agree about the deplorable situation.

I disagree that Paul is failing to educate people and that he is ineffective at doing just that in the face time that he gets. He is invited on these programs to discuss specific points. He does not set the agenda. Watch the clips and you will see that he does an admirable job pulling in the bigger picture, repeating critical phrases. Often when the topic encompasses anything to do with economics, he will end with a nice set-piece explaining that the real fix is not this-or-that-piece-of-legislation, but to demand that the government get back to minimalist, constitutional goals.

IMO, the problem has nothing at all to do with Paul's presentations-- they are excellent-- but

  • with very few exceptions (Ratagan, Napolitano, Stossel), the hosts never elaborate on his points or his candidacy after he is gone, even for the many hosts who give him respect and appreciation when he is present.
  • they cover only a miniscule portion of Paul events with clips or on-site reporters.

Think of how it goes when they show a clip of a Bachmann rally. The hosts will discuss the points made, maybe bring some guests on to discuss it, and in following interviews they'll throw in a question to get the reaction of the new guest to whatever Bachmann said earlier. They even do this after a session where Cain alternates between oversimplifications and evasions (he wouldn't recognize an unintended consequence if it bit him).

I haven't been involved in journalism since my college days (that was my original major), but I think what the campaign lacks is simply the existence of real friends who are staff in these MSM organizations. Consider Pawlenty. His campaign has suffered a consistent string of failures, yet his opinions are still considered seriously and with respect by all of the conservative shows. Why? I submit because he has friends in these organizations.

Could be that there are orders from on high at these (conservative) organizations to treat Paul as inconsequential, but I don't subscribe to elaborate conspiracy theories without considerable proof. (Especially one that require thousands of conspirators who all keep their lips sealed).

So, how to get friends in MSM organizations? I dunno. If you have a distant relative or know that a friend-of-a-friend that has any position of influence, try to appeal to their sense of fairness and democracy.

Too Funny!

"but I don't subscribe to elaborate conspiracy theories without considerable proof. (Especially one that require thousands of conspirators who all keep their lips sealed)"

You should change your subscription then. When the phone rings, and New York is on the line, stories are killed, changes are made and jobs are threatened. The collusion between supposed "competitors trying to out-scoop each other", to instead bury or alter information and change the reality, are now legion in our media. How much proof would you need to arrive at considerable?

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Correct you are, Dr. Paul needs to make "friends" in the media..

This all has to do with "HOW" you pitch your message, how you prescribe your solutions -- NOT what your solutions are.

Dr. Ron Paul *HAS* a lot of airtime to cover his points, thanks to boycotts...but the reality here is until he *gains* some true friends in each Media outlet...he can be misquoted.
These actions help quite a bit... http://boycotts4paul.com

....But the only real way for Doctor Paul to be taken as a man of his word, and allowed to clearly finish his point...is to pitch the message.

We learn this in marketing 101, Ron Paul needs Douglas Wead and CAMPAIGN workers to "pitch" to pundits his message means - less government, phase out the Federal Reserve, and simply put..

"Decide whether we need the Department of Education."
- You don't say we get rid of it, Goldwater never succeeded at that. You say let the people decide whether they want a Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, or other departments given their consistent failure.
Let Iowa's HQ know, THIS message has to be made into a simple pitch to succeed. (rachel@ronpaul2012.com)

Every single viewer - or every voter - and actual friends of the campaign : Can resonate with a message as simple as this. Anything more broad than that is above the average media person's intelligence level.

I think he's doing fine.

The only thing Ron needs to do differently this time, in my opinion, is run harder and more aggressively. Spend all the money early--we'll donate more. That sort of thing.

I don't think other worries are so great. The people are angry with Washington, silver-tongued liar politicos, and betrayals. I do agree that discussing "the Fed" is a source of confusion for most voters. Addressing the economy and the dollar as in his new ad, hitting the simple issues, is a good thing. He should also address civil liberties and unnecessary wars. People are ready for that message, too.

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

Hi quiltyspark

Go to his official campaign webpage and email them.

That said, during the election, I asked Obama supporters WHY. "Why are you voting for Obama? I wanted to get a list of ten. I only got seven and that's hundreds of Obama supporters on Slate, Salon, Huffpo, OpEd, ect..

1. He's cute.
2. He's Black.
3. He's NOT Bush (GOP)
4. He's NOT Hillary (DINO)
5. He taught constitutional law.
6. He's a good speaker.
7. He tells the truth.

Before the election, I heard one Obama suppoorter coaching another on "How To Influence voters". "Act Cute.

Ron Paul campaign was far from perfect in 2007/08, but it had it's moments.. and there were times I would be screaming.. he shoulda, woulda coulda...

This election, I see it like this, He's my candidate. If you have one better, put him up and I'll debate you on the issues.

Finally, I really think Obama and his family are ready to move on. He seems to want to lose to me. And as for Buchannan.. she's a VIRTUAL media product, like Palin.

RON IS NOT A "POLITICIAN "

HE IS AN OPPOSING STRATEGISTS DREAM.. FOR HE SAYS WHAT HE UNDERSTANDS DEEPLY AND IN THEORY IN ONE SENTENCE QUIPS..A NEW PERSON ?? ITS VERY EASY TO COME AWAY WITH A FALSE IMPRESSION.. THAT NOONE HAS BROUGHT THIS TO HIS CAMPAIGN IS BIZARRE..I WROTE TO MR NYSTROM THINKING HE WOULD GET IN TOUCH WITH MR WEAD ..NO REPLY ..THE BEATLES COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT BETTER ..THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A MAIN CONCERN ..IF I AM WRONG ........GOOD... THE LAST POST HAS IT RIGHT ..HE NEEDS MORE TIME TO TALK THAN 1 MIN. SPOTS ..THEY ARE RUINOUS

Re: RON IS NOT A "POLITICIAN"

Did you just find out about the Internet? All caps is boorish and offensive. I'm not going to read your self-important text and I hope that nobody else does.

See #2 under "Rules" at http://www.dailypaul.com/guide

HAHA

What scares me is people who are overly sensitive to CAPS as though they can actually HEAR screaming coming out of the keys.

We should have something that bans ALL caps locks because they "could" be used for evil.

I mean its in the best interest of the board and all LOL.

BACK ON TOPIC

Ron Paul needs to SPEND THAT MONEY and get his message across to where people UNDERSTAND IT. End the fed doesn't cut it when trying to win over those who watch tv from 6-11pm every day like clockwork.

He needs ads during primetime shows like er, greys anatomy, simpsons, any news block ie 5/6/7 and the 10/11 spots as well. He needs to market TO PEOPLE and not to the msm or the news shows. People who WATCH the news already have their opinions SO get to those who get off work, eat, have a beer and veg on the couch watching "their shows".

Re: HAHA

Who is it that's being over-dramatic?

The reason for the rules about caps on this and most forums is that most participants enjoy civilized conversation, and all caps is not. This forum has the rule because we value basic Internet civility. If you think these standard rules are oppressive or are a gateway to Orwellian censorship and audio hallucinations, then find a site with rules less offensive to your free-wheelin' tastes.

OK ..

ITS NOT INTENTIONAL ..BYE

Here's some much more productive use of your time.

First, get him on T.V by taking twenty minutes a day.

http://www.boycotts4paul.com

Then just allow him to speak his ten minute messages, he's doing a fine job of that anytime he gets in an interview.
Campaign HQ: http://www.ronpaul2012.com

actually he isnt doing a fine job in his interviews

If he was doing a good job in his interviews he would be the frontrunner which he obviously is not.

People dont understand what he is talking about , he needs to explain it to them.

He has just started doing so in ads like "Conviction" today.

If you have further suggestions make them known rather than writing out rants.

Ahem.

What is your plan to make the networks sell airtime?

uh

money

No

Networks are in the very comfortable situation to be able to turn down political advertising. Local stations can and will turn away ads.

who said i was talking about advertising?

?

Then what are you talking about?

I see you are new to the Daily Paul. Welcome! I am glad you have found Dr. Paul and his message. It tends to set one free and at the same time can be frustrating. If you continue to follow the post here you will soon see there is a very real censorship of Dr. Paul on the Main Stream Media. All the money in the world will not change that. No amount of money will buy time on Fox News or CNN or MSMBC or all the other stations. Dr. Paul wants to save this country. The people that control the MSM want to destroy it. You are going to have to come to terms with the reality that the only avenue we have to educate people is the internet ant word of mouth. The liberty movement will always be grassroots untill we destroy the current main stream. So get busy. Convince at least 10 people that have never heard of Dr. Paul or heard negative things about him to vote for himin the primary. If we all do that we cannot lose!
