Ron Paul needs a new TV commercial featuring war veterans

We all know that in order for Ron Paul to go against Obama in 2012 he needs to win the GOP nomination... Sure getting some Democrats to switch party affiliation just to vote for Ron in the Republican primary is great and all but I'm not so sure that that is enough to assure a victory.

Bottom line: We're going to need the GOP voters in order to win.

I always hear from people in the GOP: "Ron Paul makes perfect sense about his economic policy but he loses me with his foreign policy"

So here's the idea:

There is one subject that seems to play to the heartstrings of most of the GOP and that is the military.

The Ron Paul 2012 campaign needs to capitalize on that and use their strong military support to spread Ron's message of a sensible foreign policy to the GOP voters.

I suggest they produce a video commercial with young and old war vets (It's illegal to have active military personnel on any campaign videos) giving their testimonials of why they want Ron to be THEIR commander in chief. The ad should openly brag about the fact he is the ONLY presidential candidate that actually served in the military. The ad should also mention OUT LOUD that Ron Paul receives more campaign contributions from active military personnel than all the other Republican and Democrat candidates COMBINED!

The ad needs to end with a message like: "Listen to our troops; Vote Ron Paul 2012" or "Support our troops, Vote Ron Paul".

I hope the campaign does this. It's a no brainer.

Daily Paulers,

I am the owner of Richter Studios, an award-winning production company in Chicago. We own and use the finest motion picture cameras on the planet, including the RED One MX and Phantom camera for our productions. I have been a Writer/Director for over 15 years now and have recently worked with Ludacris, Cyndi Lauper, Arnold Palmer, Captain James Lovell (Apollo 8/13), Greeley Wells (who brought in the stars and stripes on Iwo Jima), Bill Kurtis and many other celebrities. Working with U.S. war veterans for a project like this would be an honor and I would not disappoint.

To date, my company has created over 550 video productions and have won over 50 international awards for our work. We do everything from initial concepts and scriptwriting to filming, animation and world class sound design. And above all else, we know how to coach our talent to achieve great performances on camera.

Here's my company's demo reel:

Here's my personal profile:

If you guys are really serious about doing this and want this to be a massive home run, contact me and we'll get the wheels moving on this. I won't kid you, this will cost a few bucks but we can work that out. Perhaps the SuperPAC could fund this.

I represent the finest cinematographers and production crews on the planet, so you can bet the bank that the quality for this would be out of this world. I could imagine having a few dozen war veterans fly out to be filmed on our production stage. With that many people captured on camera, we could not only create a world class commercial or two for broadcast but also limitless high-end pieces for the web as well.

I am also a Libertarian and strong believer in the Constitution. Ron Paul is my hero.

The ball is in your court. Just let me know.

An add pointing out that he

An add pointing out that he has the most impeccable record in congress bar none would help too.

OK y'all, any takers?

I have zero video skills - but I was inspired to try to write this draft of a script. I'm hoping that somebody from our DP ranks who has video editing skills will be fired up enough to run with this project. We have plenty of veterans who have volunteered to participate. They could film themselves and send it in with photos and info from their service years. It could be edited together into a youtube video... which would show people the possibilities. For what it's worth, here is what I came up with:

(To be spoken by different veterans)

When we joined the military, we took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

So did Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate running for President who has served our country in the military.

Ron Paul served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1968. (show photo of RP in uniform).

Many people don’t know that Ron Paul receives more campaign contributions from active members of our military (our troops) than all other Republican candidates for President combined.

And there is good reason.

Ron Paul supports our troops. He understands what our country needs.

Ron Paul has spent 30 years (sp?) in Washington as a congressman fighting for America. (show picture with Reagan).

In that time, Ron Paul has NEVER voted to raise taxes.

He has NEVER voted for an unbalanced budget.

He has NEVER voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.

He has NEVER voted to raise congressional pay.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.

And every year, Ron Paul returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury – back to the taxpayers.

Ron Paul is a man of principle. He is a man of his word.

As Americans, we ALL have a role to play in supporting and defending our great nation.

Please help us make Ron Paul the Republican candidate for President in 2012.

Help Ron Paul take on Barack Obama in 2012.

With your help, it will be no contest.

Vote Ron Paul for President in 2012.

Okay, So I Did My Best

Hey Daily Paulers,

I had a meeting at my studio today with a very nice gentleman from Revolution Super PAC. To cut to the chase, they have their own ideas on how they want to help the Ron Paul campaign. The gentleman I talked shared some ideas they were considering and I bet they'll do just fine with them. However, none of them involved filming any war veterans, in fact none of them involved any filming at all.

I mention this because I feel that's where my company could best contribute. I also believe it's what would genuinely make a real imprint on the public's present state of mind. Filming a dozen or so veterans in a stylized fashion and letting them speak from the heart would go a long ways toward articulating why our armed forces believe in Ron Paul and the movement's ideas. It would establish a real, visceral connection with viewers and speak to where the soul of America is right now. And you would not find a more vocal, dedicated bunch than those in the armed forces. They are the real feet on the ground and I believe the common man would respond to their heartfelt perspective more than any other standard graphics-laden commercial.

I've had a long day and I'm tired. I'll have to rethink this and see if there's another way this can be done. It was recommended today that I consider going solo on this effort, a request I often get as an entrepreneur. As I've witnessed in my career countless times, the crowd always cheers when you hit a grand slam........but almost never believes you can until they see it with their own eyes. It's understandable but is still very frustrating. Anyway, I'm tired right now and will see where this leads when my engine refuels.

Thanks for all the kind e-mails today. Much appreciated.

Great work, Nuclear Kid!

You really went for it. I'm surprised they came to see you if they weren't interested. Were they looking for contributions? Anyway, let us know if you're interested in doing a low-fi version of this. A "demo" of sorts. If we want something done we've got to do it ourselves, as the saying goes. There is no reason we can't get funds together ourselves to make this run with it. As I said in my email, I don't have video skills of any kind. Thank you!

Nuclear Kid, we trust you. Now go straight to the RP Campaign

They have our money.

Next, if they don't do it right away, (rrrrrrr) then create a "money bucket" that we can contribute too.

Next Create Google Docs of the Money Bucket so all books are open for all to see and audit.

Next, on google docs put out the Punch List of items needed to fund this with clear $$ besides each.

Put Ritcher Studios in there for $ too, we don't want charity, just your bargain rate.

Then, sit back and see if this flies.

I am ready, its a thousand times better than the Blimp Idea.

I know several people who where moved by this youtube video on the troops in 2007 "The Forgotten Wounded" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-h3fbu2vv8&feature=related

and this one "Honesty" parts 1, 2 & 3

Other Avenues

Hi Nuclear Kid,

Maybe there are more low-cost solutions you could go for on a solo/grassroots direction that don't necessarily require the rpac's support. You mention flying some veterans in, but maybe you could contact them and ask them to do a short video promotion and edit them together in a stylized fashion. There are several already on this thread that volunteered to help, so that would be a great place to start. This could be a preliminary effort to test support for the idea with a concrete product. After editing together such a video, maybe more interest would be generated.

This truly is a great idea and I really hope you move forward with it. If you make the pilot video, you could start a chipIn to support the commercialization/further editing of it. I think people would be more easily convinced to contribute to a product they see in front of them rather than hiring your company right off the bat.

Great idea.

My thoughts exactly. Is anybody up for it? I know we have a lot of youtube producers here.... I'm afraid I have no video skills (yet)...

Count me in. OIF 2005

Count me in. OIF 2005

This is THE idea.

I am willing to do WHATEVER it takes to make this happen. After reading all the comments below the excitement of '07 is back and bigger than before.

The DP community is absolutely the best. I've contacted every Vet I know and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

As someone stated below, THIS MUST HAPPEN!

Thanks October2007, this is just fantastic and I truly hope and pray this will come to fruition. It's a game-changer for sure.

You're very welcome, Scott.

I love how the internet became the ultimate marketplace for ideas, allowing the best ideas to become reality.

I'm pretty sure this ad will come into fruition because it just makes way too much sense...

Anyway, it feels good knowing that my idea could help get Ron Paul more votes and very possibly elected.

Thanks Michael Nystrom for giving us a forum to share our ideas. Our ideas really do make a difference.

At least HQ

has caught on to the the "military donations".

Check out this graph.

Hopefully they are preparing some ads to highlight this. I wish I could get some info as to what they were planning. The suspense is killing me!!

Put This up with Google TV Ads

You can submit ads with small amounts of money (100-1000) with Google TV ads. I think that would be a good avenue for this kind of thing. Maybe Revolution PAC would do it? Do they have a place for suggestions?

Vet ready to help

Veteran of the 2nd Fallujah battle; >13 years of service when medically retired. Ready and willing to help. I think it is a home run idea.

RP needs

a WIN in Iowa. We need to do everything we can to insure that.
I'm thinking we need a radio ad buy, that runs the week previous to the straw poll. (that is not a lot of time)

Radio ads would be the quickest to produce and get on the air.
It should be a series of alternating ads that cover 3 or 4 issues that RP shines on. We have to help separate him from "the pack".

They should use the phrase "Ron Paul is THE ONLY ____ "

Support from the military is one.
Experience with economics is another.
Consistent record is another.

"Never voted for a tax increase"
"Never voted for a Congressional pay raise"
Etc. Etc..

That means we'd have to get the "super pac" involved.
Get the money together in approx. a week.
Write the scripts. (I have some experience writing radio ads for 30 second spots)
Produce them.
Buy the ad slots.
Blitz the airways about 4 days before the straw poll.

Today is the 26th. Can it be done?

I can see a series of Ron Paul ads

Ron Paul, the healthcare expert
Ron Paul, the military expert
Ron Paul, the economic expert
Ron Paul, the Constitution expert
Ron Paul, the limited government expert

each with supporting legislation, voting record, endorsements, etc.

These should be made with a bit of humor...based on The Most Interesting Man in the World series: "Ron Paul: the Most Qualified Candidate in the World."

"When he spoke, Ronald Reagan listened."

"Concerning healthcare, Ron Paul delivers." (video of him delivering a baby...or at least him holding a baby.)

"While others decide how much to raise taxes, Ron Paul never voted to raise taxes, never even voted to give himself a raise." (pic of his being the only no vote for raise/tax increase).

"They call him 'Doctor No'...but his voting records says he *knows* what the Constitution is." (pic of RP with "Doctor Know" underneath).

And so on.

ytc's picture

The image of a truly HONORABLE soldier is what we want to

inundate the TV screens with. . . with the unmistakable message that loving strong honorable self-sacrificing soldiers will NOT allow his/her family and other good family members (from around the world) to be trampled, manhandled or remotely assassinated (without due process).

Somehow the Just War principle has to be clearly explained & visualized.

See if you can submit this idea to www.RevolutionPAC.com/contact. They might do it.

This revolution...

... is firing... what an example of grassroots fever.

It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.

Checked your work on your site. Nice work.

Would love to see this happen. Talk to Tom Woods!

Thanks Von!

I just called and left them a message. Also sent an e-mail. Hope they get back in touch soon!

I think this is a great idea. I am a graduate student who would donate a part of my tiny stipend (income) to support this effort. Let's do this!

Contact Me

I am a disabled vet who served in Iraq. I would be glad to help in any way that I can. I have a few videos and many photos from my tour in Iraq.

I would be happy to help, just let me know what else I can do.

Robert Clark

Include Reagan quote

I agree, this is the best message to get through to reluctant Republicans! The ad should also include a picture of Reagan with his endorsement:

Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country.

Record your Veteran parents

- if this hasn't been suggested, let's get our parents who are Veterans, record their testimonial briefly where served & how, what war and why they support Congressman Paul for President to debate President Obama in the general election. The technical gurus here can get a youtube sight & we can upload them as edited as possible to be strung together?
Vietnam Veterans, WW1 if any -WW2 - Korea, ANY serviceman or woman who is now out of the service - than instead of paying some company that won't donate this service of editing the campaign or PACs pay for it - a long version, short version? - Mobilize the troops for Ron Paul 2012..my 2 cents

Working to free the hemp seed - Thanks to Congressman Paul's efforts HR 1831. Peace

Contact the Veterans of Foreign Wars

They focus on the Pacific wars. They loved Ron Paul for his efforts to help vets, right up until McCain wooed them in 2007.

Anyway, there is still strong support for Ron Paul. Some of them endorsed him for 2012 (it's on this site): http://www.dailypaul.com/4889/veterans-of-foreign-wars-vfw-e...

Also, try the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America for younger vets.

And don't forget Adam Kokesh.

Take the one I did

It is for 2008 election, but this can be updated(e.g. swap McCain's face with Obama) while the message preserved.
It is only 30 secs and tells a lot! Very emotional clip.

I'll be in touch with the RevolutionPAC this morning

They're located in Northbrook, IL, which is maybe 25 minutes from my studio. I'll be at the office in a few hours and will call them first thing. Didn't realize we were in the same state. Very exciting.
