From GOA: Congressman Ron Paul Introduces Gun Ban Repeal

Email I just got from Gun Owners of America. Think this could help Ron pull an endorsement from them??

Congressman Ron Paul Introduces Legislation to Protect School Children from Mass Murderers
Tuesday, 26 July 2011 16:18 Columbine.

Virginia Tech.

Fort Hood.

What do all of these shootings have in common?

The answer is they all occurred in government facilities where the private possession of firearms was prohibited.

In Washington, unconstitutional legislation is commonplace. But sometimes unconstitutional laws can have deadly consequences. The so-called “gun free school zones act,” written by radical anti-gun Senator Heb Kohl, is one such law.

Slammed through in 1996 as an amendment to a giant last-minute must-pass appropriations bill, the legislation disarmed school staff and other adults – leaving elementary and secondary school children defenseless to serial killers.

Lift the bans on types of guns too!

I want to get an AA-12, but they're not legal to own. Not even in "free" America, where we have the "right to keep and bear arms."

Are there any GOA members on DP besides myself? Are you subscribed to the e-mail alerts to keep up with whats happening to your gun rights.. GOA is better at fighting for your gun rights than NRA. Support them.

Voluntary Association + Mutual Cooperation + 110% Personal Responsibility = 100% Individual Liberty

By the way, didn't the Lopez court already strike this law

Why does it need repeal, or better yet, if it did strike it down, why are there still Gun-Free Zones?

Yet another reason why Appropriations bills as any other

bill should cover one and only one subject.

A bill for spending money should be ONLY a bill for spending money.

If they want to create zones where the 2nd Amendment does not apply, they should have to vote that up or down directly.

This business of attaching non-germane amendments to bills needs to stop.

This of course will not change under present conditions.

Primarily, Congress has been hi-jacked by "factions" aka - "political parties."

The solution would be to pass a corrected Article the First which would limit the size of Congressional Districts.

This would serve several purposes, not the least of which would be to return representation to be based accurately on population, not some convoluted formula vaguely resembling population.

But I digress...

The reason this is important to changing the way Congress does business, is because with smaller Congressional Districts, it is easier to get elected to Congress. Which in turn, means it is easier to LOSE your seat.

It also wouldn't take much if any money to run a race for Congress.

Thus, newly elected Representatives don't have to continue to play by the elitist weighted rules that control and convolute the legislative process currently in place.

It would be much harder for political party hacks to control appointments, committee assignments, and bill status if there are 3,000-6,000 Representatives instead of 435. Not merely because of their large number, but because none of them would be beholden to the "leadership" for their election. They can have done it all on their own. They truly would represent their district rather than big money power brokers.

Such a Congress would quickly end the practice of a "winner take all" strategy with respect to parties as they do now. You would see more "coalition" style majorities on different issues, rather than a power block system like we have now.

They would quickly demand that bills be read in full three times as is actually required. Obtaining the 2/3 majority needed to waive the reading of bills would be nearly impossible.

Thus, by necessity, no one will sit through a 1000 page bill, or any bill absolutely longer than it needs to be.

Bills will be thus, by necessity, limited in scope and issue.

This is a game changer, in a game that is badly rigged against We the People.

I love how he's submitting all these bills to help promote his campaign. Tax Free Tips, Marijuana Legalization, now this!

good posts deserve bumps

Thanks Mike.

Would be good if everyone took action at the bottom of the page and filled out their contact info to send a pre written letter from GOA to your Congressperson about this bill.

Action taken

Faxed a note urging support of HR 2613 as requested.

Also asked him to vote for HR 2587, "Protecting Jobs from Government Interference Act."

good activism.
