Ron Paul on 60 Minutes?

0 votes

If Meet the Press has made some converts, maybe we can try for 60 minutes?

Has there been a big push to get Dr. Paul that I missed? Any reason they won't have him on? it would be really good if they could follow some RP supporters for the Sign Bomb in January.

What about ABC's Stossell interview?

Instead of focusing on 60 Minutes, we ought to continue contacting 20/20 to get them to finally air the Stossell interview of Dr. Paul. Stossell is a self described libertarian and gave a very fair interview, parts of which have been available online. If enough of us can contact 20/20 and convince them that it will be worth their money to air the interview they may just do it. Contact them from this page:

yours is a good suggestion

We already know what the Stossell interview is all about. Don't get me wrong, I think Ron can survive any attempts at smear or slander. But I am also quite aware of the cruel realities of the 60 Minutes editing bays. Combine that with the as yet still unsubstantiated rumor from September as found on FreeMarketNews which claimed: (again, note date and lack of citation of sources)

60 Minutes Ron Paul Profile?
Monday, September 10, 2007 - FreeMarketNews.com

Though Ron Paul campaign officials will not admit it, or even breathe a word about it, media sources confirm that CBS' 60 Minutes expects to negotiate or film a segment at presidential candidate's Ron Paul's Washington office. The producers, and perhaps cameras, arrived there Monday morning, sources said. Ron Paul officials remain mum.

Remember, this is only a rumor, but it is still worth noting in case it proves to be true. Things have changed dramatically since the date of this rumor, so any exclusive footage of Dr. Paul from that time period should be offset with new footage if they are to be considered honest journalists. Or am I too far off base here? That's okay, too. Dr. Paul has asked us to have fun on this journey, so I won't belabor any points after all of my baseless assumptions.

60 Minutes 1st to report Iraq plan was pre-9/11

Wasn't this story the first to report former Treas Secy Paul O'Neill saying that a map of Iraq was rolled out at W's first cabinet meeting? That account bolsters Ron Paul's argument that invading Iraq was planned long before 9/11:

Moreover, Iraq Liberation

Moreover, Iraq Liberation Act was passed in 1998 signed by Bill Clinton.

And the poster below is absolutely correct. There is NO way RP should do 60 minutes. At least not without the authorization to have a second recording source in the room for both audio and video. Also he should have an iron-clad contract giving him, not the campaign, final approval over the final edit pending a release form before signing release. That contract should also stipulate that if CBS airs anything other than the approved cut, they will immediately pay RP 100 million dollars (which he can then loan to his campaign) and that this provision of the contract would not be subject to judicial review. Also it must be insisted that the entire board of directors @ CBS parent company sign the contract.

If they don't agree and don't sign, tell them to pound sand. Of course they will never agree to this and that should be just fine because anything else is pure suicide. The CBS cutting room is world renowned for its sheer sliminess. It has brought down world leaders with lies and half-truths.

Paul.

DANGER! 60 Minutes plays dirty with editing

I would be very cautious about giving 60 Minutes an interview. Unlike some other shows, they pre-record their interviews, then slice and dice them to create whatever impression they want people to get. They can and will make you look smart or dumb, nice or nasty, depending on *their* choice of edits -- and they aren't above outright fraud in doing it. Watch "The 60 Minutes Deception" to see how it works. No doubt Ron would do fine in the interview itself, but what came out of the editing room would be an entirely separate question, beyond his or our control.

Indeed, 60 Minutes also would reach out to that "older" demographic that we desperately need.
