Faces of the Ron Paul Revolution - site is up - add your photo at FacesOfTheRevolution.com
Submitted by contrazoom on Wed, 12/26/2007 - 03:00
Here is a new site which is designed to help dispel MSM myths about who Ron Paul's supporters are. Add your photo at:
http://facesoftherevolution.com/
Please help spread the word about this site. We will soon have photo slideshows available which you can embed on your own site or MySpace profile. Hopefully this will help to put a more human "face" on our movement and show the media and others how diverse we are.
Thanks very much to everyone who helped beta test the site earlier tonight.

That's sweet, thanks for your efforts. I look forward to the flash version for my web pages!!!
Not Impressive
It's the same people over and over...But that hot chick in the bikini with ron paul pasted in front of her is fabulous
the impressive one, so far, is:
http://ronpaulrally.org/
but feel free to post a pic on BOTH. If everyone does that, things will improve. And it's easy and fun and FREE!!

We're up to about 200 photos

Faces of the Revolution
As I posted on the previous thread about this site that two sites already exist and have for some time with the Ron Paul Rally boasting over 2400+ photos that can be searched by state and meetup Group + streaming incoming photos. The Ames Iowa straw poll full page mosaic ad which I'm in was created from this site with it's partner site the Ron Paul Mosaic. One is fine, two is too many. Support the existing sites not diluting them by duplicating them. The same goes for Ron Paul Payday which would have been better incorporated into the Ron Paul Money Bomb site. What I find with all the Ron Paul sites is a whole lot of duplication. We wind up going from site to site to keep up with the information to the point that everyone will be reading and writing and no work will get done. Time for some consolidation among these sites as many spoof sites are popping up. A small number of large sites would be easier to manage than a large number of small sites. The number of Ron Paul sites have become difficult to keep track of.

Faces of the Revolution
I was aware of the mosaic ad, but not the Ron Paul Rally site. The way I see it, lots of people working lots of different angles will reach lots of eyeballs. So, I'm going to press forward with Faces of the Revolution. I think I can put it in front of a mass, general audience within a few days or a week.

We're up to about 100 photos
C'mon, people, I know there are more than 100 Ron Paul supporters out there :-)

suggestion
can you make it show more than 12 faces?
makes it look like there are only 12 supporters...DOH!!!
I can't really make it
I can't really make it display all photos at once. The page would take forever to load, and would be ginormous. Either that or the photos would be tiny. I'm kinda going for a balance between showing enough detail and showing enough supporters.
Besides, it's fun to reload the page :-)

wtf?
Tiny thumbnails would take forever to load?
It's fun to reload?
Can't help but notice that this 'system'
gives you 10 times the banner displays that you would get,
if you put all the thumbnails on one page.
I don't think anyone begrudges a website benefitting from advertising
but I don't think we deserve to be manipulated to provide you with extra banner exposures.

It is not fun to reload the page (for me)
I would like to see more faces and less black space between faces. I think the pics could be smaller and you should fill the frame with faces. I liked it much bette when we loaded our pics on the 25th.
"Victory for liberty! That is our goal, and nothing less. -- Ron Paul, December 17, 2007"
Ron Paul is my President.
The problem with displaying
The problem with displaying more images in each row is that it makes the page too wide to display correctly on monitors which are set to 800x600 resolution (i.e. many laptops and older computers.) As it is now, each row of 6 images automatically spreads out to fill the available horizontal space, no matter what resolution your PC monitor is set to. Resize the window and you will see what I mean.
My monitor is set to 1024x768 and the page looks pretty full with images - not too much black space between faces. If you are seeing a lot of empty black space, you probably have your monitor set to 1280x1024 or higher.
I guess I am not used to developing sites for a more tech-savvy audience with higher-end displays. Most of the sites I develop are for a general audience, most of whom are business and home users with run-of-the-mill low end PCs. So that's why I was targeting it to 800x600 and 1024x768. Not sure whether to change that now or not. I kind of want grandmas in Iowa to be able to view the site, too.

Embedding of photos is now available
OK, it's now possible to embed randomly-rotating faces onto your own web site (or MySpace profile.) Embed info is here: http://www.facesoftherevolution.com/embed.php
Working now on an embeddable Flash widget with plays a slideshow of faces within the page, without the user having to reload the page.

Bump
This site wasn't complete until late last night. Thought I'd give it another bump. It deserves it.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!
my pic is gone
I posted my pic on the beta and now it's gone... and it won't let me put up another one because it says I've already posted one.

Nevermind: You must be putting them over from one to another or something - it's there now. Great idea by the way!
Super idea
I can't wait till the page is plastered with faces of all colors, ages and hair-dos!

Brilliant article that explains why we love Dr. Paul:

Then don't wait
http://ronpaulrally.org/ already exists. I guess this project is good, too, but IMO it's kinda re-inventing the wheel...

That's a neat site. A little different than what we are going for, but definitely cool. Hopefully both sites will do some good.

Both sites show we're a LOT more-diverse
Than the news media paints us. I hope both become more popular.

Cool beans. Awesome site.
Cool beans. Awesome site. You should eventually make each face clickable to show a statement why he/she supports Ron Paul.
Nice work.
We're going for stricly
We're going for stricly visual & emotional appeal with this. There are about 8 million other sites which provide written documentation on how many people support Ron Paul, and for what reasons. However, the MSM seems to either be baffled or spreading malicious myths about who his supporters are. This is simply to show our diversity, and that we are everyday people from all walks of life. With every page load there is bound to be a photo of someone the viewer relates to.
