Ron Paul National Support Crew
Submitted by Julius Scissor on Fri, 08/31/2007 - 02:13I've seen a lot of doomsday commentaries regarding Ron Paul's positions. We have to face the facts that while these comments are a bit heavy on the hyperbole, there will be some storms as a result of Ron Paul's decisions.
It's high time we assumed we've won and started shielding our fellow citizens from some of the side effects. Especially our fellow citizens who oppose us. We want Ron Paul in the White House. We must steps to soften the effects of the necessary decisions he will make.
In the last 2 presidential elections as well as the Democratic coup in 06 I have seen so much childish gloating from both sides it makes me sad. Democracy is not a political structure (it has none hence the democracy = mob rule accusation). Democracy is the political health of the country, generally measured by whether or not the people have a voice and how much of a voice they really have. To watch Republicans gloat (even though they lost the popular vote in '00) and then watch Democrats do the same in '06 was at first depressing then later infuriating. We are a republic. A healthy republic allows democracy to flourish. This means we recognize that those who voted against our position and may vote against our position in '08 exist and have lives, families, dreams, and hopes as we do.
I tend to be a bleeding heart libertarian so I'm for big city govt, medium size county govt, lean state govt, and very lean national govt.
I'm less against a State Emergency Management Agency than I am against FEMA. I am for local dept of education getting tax funds. I think any of the money and help we hear people say we need to give to other countries should come from the states not the federal govt. I am for sending money to Darfur from my state, but frankly I would prefer to ask my county or city than the state or nation for devoting military resources.
Ron Paul is the only one who stands for anything and goes out of his way to make the distinction between what he wants to do (like privately donate money for a medal for Rosa Parks) and what the federal govt cannot do (like using public funds for the medal). We support his candidacy but we must also support our fellow citizens when we switch from automatic transmission (federal central government) to manual transmission (state's rights based govt).
I haven't foggiest idea where to begin, but I think it's worth distinguishing ourselves as voters who elect a leader who serves the country rather than voters who elect a leader whom we can then follow relieving ourselves of any responsibility.
I want a Ron Paul Presidency. I believe I have to inform others how to prepare for the changes that are going to occur. But I have no idea yet as where to begin.

Those of LIKE-MINDS...
...MUST RUN FOR SEATS in LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. You wanna help Dr. Paul in the 'Alighty then... now what' scenario?
Know your constitution, then run for office with the exact same message and fervor that Dr. Paul employed to get into the oval office.
His presidency (like any presidency) is only as effective as state government is in minding it's constitutional limits and upholding oaths of office. State government must also be taken off the Federal 'tit'.
The wealth of the Fed is entirely predicated upon what it collects from the States, not the current 'print money as you go' and dole it out backwards. Then siphon off the phony money via unconstitutional tax collection from income of the people.
The whole thing is bass-ackwards. It has to be straightened out.
Getting rid of the falsies (Federal Reserve Bank)
Gets rid of the Fed 'tit'
Gets rid of the State 'sucklings'
and returns all the production, success and real bounty to the bossom of the people- who then give to the state to conduct its limited operations, the states in turn give to the Feds for it's even more limited operations.
Most of the important roles are done at the local level (COUNTY), with an elected Sheriff empowered to seeing that government and the people behave.
"If men, through fear, fraud, or mistake, should in terms renounce or give up any natural right, the eternal law of reason and the grand end of society would absolutely vacate such renounciation. The right to freedom being the gift of God....
The economic consequences of Paul Presidency
Many fear losing the Federal 'tit' that has wrongfully suckled so many grown men and women into the idea they have a RIGHT to Federal government support.
Many corporations fear losing the Federal 'tit' that has wrongfully subsidized, rewarded, exempted and ultimately shielded business from everyday risks associated with commerce.
How do we help these sucklings understand liberty and true prosperity are only acheived in a constitutionally limited Republic?
There are economic models by Milton Friedman and the Chicago School (economists) showing that in 2 short years this country can have a balanced budget and be in the black with a sound monetary policy ie getting rid of the Federal Reserve and lawfully applying tax code (already in place- but excrutiatingly misapplied to the incomes of citizens living and work in the US).
Prosperity is the BENEFIT of liberty and freedom, privacy and independance and concepts like home-schooling vs public or government schools. Much of the failures in society today are wrongfully associated with too-little government and this must be corrected.
Power must be restored to the people and greater minds than mine have exhaustively provided details of how such prosperity can and will be acheived in the Paul Presidency.

Government's role in teaching
All this commentary kind of reminds me of Ron Paul's response to a student regarding the Department of Education. The student asked Ron Paul if that would then eliminate student loans, and Ron Paul's reply was: (not an EXACT quote) "Well, yes. Why should somebody who can't afford to go to college themselves pay for you to go to college?" So a corollary would be: "Why should somebody who has no children pay to educate those who do? And why should a person with ONE child to educate pay as much as a child with THREE?"
When you say that the Dept of Education means:
hiring teachers
encouraging more people to seek the teaching profession
developing standards
for testing
for subject matter to be covered
teaching styles
involving teachers in the process of standards development
providing grants and loans
what you're failing to realize is that each and every one of these functions can be done perfectly well and actually better altogether without any government input whatsoever! Taxation is, after all, merely taking money at gunpoint from people in order to get them to pay for something that they wouldn't otherwise pay for. If they would, they you wouldn't have to steal their money to do it. If there were no government schools, you can bet that the free market would provide for schools. There are plenty of private schools now that do a better job of providing education than government institutions, and the elimination of taxpayer-financed schools would result in a rush of businesses looking to make money on this obvious shortage. The ones with the most credible accreditation processes would attract the best teachers and be the most successful. Teachers themselves and companies set up to train teachers to meet parents and students' needs would develop standards for testing and subject matter to be covered and even grants and loans to those unable to afford the classes but still wish to go. I found this to be true when I attended a trade school growing up. It was a welding school that for money taught you to weld, read blueprints, pass welding tests, and generally prepare you for a career in welding. There were even many referral services. It was great, and had no government input whatsoever. AND, everything that I learned there was useful to what I was trying to accomplish, AND they loaned me the money to attend the school! The power of the free market.

McCAIN REFERRED TO HIS SENATE SEAT AS A BUSINESS
I don't know if you picked this up during the debate Wednesday night but \McCain referred to his tenure in government as a businesss, this in itself is the problem just by this one idiotic statement.
Serving the people who elected you is a Constitutional & civic duty to see and hear that a senator of the United States referred it to as a business makes me a business owner want to puke.
Term limits are an answer but the constituents need to keep the Representatives towing the line on there sworn oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution by writing, calling and faxing them.
Now we know why the lobbyists have gained control over our government, expose them Dr. Paul with your dignity and honesty !!!!
This should have a lot to do when President Paul takes office because
that day will start the power takeover of the American people of there government !!!!
"Freedom is a right that can never be won in war, only by each individual "
Ron Paul said it
In the debate he said, for this to work, "We have to change the way we think about government". I think that's pretty meaningfull. I think that's the biggest challenge in getting the message accepted.
realize where the law came from
The law came from us, the people. Think back to the Pilgrims on the Mayflower. Before setting foot on land they agreed to a compact, they agreed to a law. Later the Massachusetts Constitution of 1780 was ratified by all the towns that would form the new Commonwealth. Through their towns people, real, live people, agreed to constitute a government and they wrote down very specific laws for that government to obey. Per the constitution, no subsequent law passed by the legislature of Massachusetts can be repugnant to that document. Yet many so-called laws today are.
Our law has been little-enforced for way too long. Most people don't even know what is in our state constitutions. Some, not all, have been "updated" from the original, with the original lost to archives (I assume, I hope it's still there!)
As the changes filter down and impact our lives, we should consider the foundations that were set down in each and every state and use them to find our steady way. These foundations rest upon individual responsibility, that's what we are returning to.
Government is made of people
You gotta tell 'em!
a few ideas
first you offer the high paid executives of school districts a new position of teacher then you let the teachers get in a room and say this how much tax money there is what can we do with it you close the door and they (the teachers) go at it let them figure it out it is their life their job. Then when they come out if its not enough we figure out how much. we let them figure out the punishment for children going to school then we decide if we like it if you dont find a diffrent school if you agree then the teachers are in charge of their school let them set the standard for oversight for wrong doing by other teachers. Its provin that when children are set as judges over other children they give out more just and usually stiffer punishment. I guess what im saying is stay outtatheirbusiness. as far as testing standards. I would have one - that my kid gets smarter two - is taugh some freakin responsability three - to at least have basic morals if they dont have that being smart means very little.
Specialization is for insects
I like that. Get rid of the pyramid. Let the teachers gain respect for each other rather than having some power tripping suit run things.
I'm not so sure about punishment being solely up to teachers only because of egos. But hey why not have some parents also be teachers.
Also how do you feel about universities being run by teachers and students with equal responsibilities rather than under some detached corp-wannabe umbrella bureaucracy?
I like where your heads at
After Ron Paul is elected, things are definitely going to be different. Based on the amount of feet-on-the-ground volunteer support for this do-it-yourself campaign, I am confident that people are starting to see that this is a do-it-yourself world. We are not electing Dr. Paul to solve our problems for us, we are electing him to stop federal meddling so we can solve the problems ourselves; I am excited by the idea of a lot of new blood and new energy being poured into local and state governments.

this isn`t a campaign,it`s a
this isn`t a campaign,it`s a paradigm shift. If we change our ideas about the role of government, we must change our ideas about our roles in our communities. As far as education goes,if a classroom has 30 kids, then 1 parent per child volunteers 1 day a month to assist the fulltime teacher...i understand some parents have more to offer than others...I have no children myself,a day spent with 10 year olds is a working definition of HELL.but I have nieces and nephews whom I love dearly.I`m a blue collar hammerswinger,I spent 9 months in Biloxi MS working for free,i`m still working for free.(like i said i don`t have a family to provide for).I work for free doing what i like, people provide for ME.

Alrighty then - 9.01.07 begins it.
I am in debt, I make pocket change, but I am motivated. Let the pre-emptive tying of loose ends commence.
I declare the Ron Paul National Support Crew loosely established. I will post weekly.
Temporary Motto: OK so Ron Paul won. Now what? National Support Crew that's what.
First order of business: What does the Dept of Education actually do?
my gummint skool teacher sister says...
Add the word "prevention" to the end of a gummint department's title to find its true function. So in this case, Department of Education Prevention.
Hmmmm.....

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.
Alright, then what is it supposed to do?
Dept of Education means:
hiring teachers
encouraging more people to seek the teaching profession
developing standards
for testing
for subject matter to be covered
teaching styles
involving teachers in the process of standards development
providing grants and loans
One thing we could try to do
End the "those who can do, those who can't teach" stereotype
How do we encourage people to move from corporate or professional positions to teaching positions?
How do we do it without creating separate classes?
Some of this is brainstorming
Some of this is reforming
Some of this is innovating
Forget all that!
Do exactly like Ron Paul wants to do w/the Fed. Give the power back to the teachers; let them "teach"~we didn't have all the crap you mentioned when I went to school! Streamline the top, protect the teachers from the lawyers, and above all, quit throwing money at it. From my observations, the more $, the dumber the kids. It doesn't take much $ to learn how to READ, write, do math, play, enjoy a little art and music! And maybe most important, parents better allow teachers to teach them manners and respect, since it seems not to happen at home these days! It boggles my mind how parents/teachers allow kids to terrorize them. I have friends who would love to teach again, but are fearful of the school administration, parents, lawyers, kids~even the pay and benefits won't lure them. How's that~are we off to a good start?!
That puts us in the same place
Eduation is going to be in the vast chasm between political philosophy and reality if we just cut services out.
The minimum we need to do is move the DOE to the states. Cutting out the federal power monopoly is extremely critical.
However, we have to accept the fact that as great as it may be most parents and teachers as well as politicians do not know how to drive stick. They've been on automatic administration for too long.
We need to implement a plan that competes very well with the behemoth.
I agree with you that when parents and teachers feel the urgency and the weight of responsibility of teaching on a daily basis they communicate well with each other and do a better job. Why bother trying your best to teach when you know the system will punish you for it?
But taking their toys away is not the way to do it. It's a huge jump. Once the state level programs expand and take away from the federal level the redundancy and pointlessness of it all will be self-evident.

Welcome
Great article and comment. We are all new at this. It is like the first day in a new school. Strange how beautiful and simple Dr. Paul's message is and yet how hard it is to get people to realize how it will improve their lives and protect their freedoms. Dr. Paul focus is always the Constitution and the protections of the individual. Without the protection of Constitution all of our other concerns are small potatoes. Keep coming to this site and others we will get the hang of it eventually.
Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.
The next step
Thank you for your note. I have been reading the DailyPaul for weeks now and after reading your post, I finally took the plunge and registered on to the website. I may not be using the internet terminology correctly, but I will learn!
Your article puts the spotlight on exactly the point that often comes up in Ron Paul discussions. I am already on board the "Freedom Train" and believe in the Constitution, etc., but many people become confused as to how things would work and they need help envisioning positive examples of people and government actually working as designed. They need to see something, perhaps hypothetical scenarios of what will happen to the homeless people, how will people with disabilities manage their needs, etc.
If we can address this, some fence sitters may jump on Ron Paul's side and take on the mission. Freedom and responsibility go hand in hand. The country needs to see and know that these freedom loving enthusiasts are up to the challenge and are willing to do what it takes to mold a caring society, and do an even better job of it than the government.
This is an important component of the revolution!
