Pat Buchanan: What if 3 Pauls led America?

Excerpt:

To see how absurd it is to blame tea-party Republicans for the downgrading of America's debt, imagine this scenario: Rep. Ron Paul is speaker of the House, Sen. Rand Paul is majority leader, and Rep. Paul Ryan is president of the United States.

Does anyone doubt this trio would restore the U.S credit rating in a New York minute? Every sacred cow in the federal pasture, from food stamps to foreign aid, would be hanging in the meat locker.

The American people have come to like the president, but a majority is coming to believe he is simply not the decisive president we need to lead us out of the morass in which he found the country and from which he has failed to extricate us.

here's what paul ryan knows abuot the economy

Google his plan to save social security.

Everyone gets every dollar guaranteed to keep up with inflation.

He might learn a thing or two about how the economy works before continuing to come up with plans to destroy it. His plan is probably the most destructive idea since SS being created.

I'm not critical

of Pat's "snub." The broader point is that Ron and Rand are truly serious about cutting. For the Paul haters, having Paul Ryan as POTUS might be just the sugar coating they need to agree. It might soften them up a little. We need to work on everyone and I think Buchanan is sensitive to that.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Paul Ryan as president??? Huh???

I'm afraid he's got that backwards.

Debbie

Paul Ryan is a MAJOR WARMONGER

.....which is JUST what they want next........

Pat Buchanan

This guy is who I wish Dr. Paul would consider for a running mate.

Pat Buchanan has the Tea-Party mentality in a very formidable establishment shell.

The only thing I don't like is that he doesn't realize that in 2019, we'll be looking at President Paul in his second term, and Sen. Paul being sworn in as Majority leader and Rep. Ryan being elected Speaker of the House.

3 Pauls in power will happen.

...as usual...

...a fine article from Pat Buchanan...This article appears on Pat's web site, but with a different title...

Paul Ryan is a freakin joke.

Paul Ryan is a freakin joke. Never proposed a single mother f-ing CUT in his LIFE. Get a clue Pat.

Why, oh why, Pat?

Is it because of the paycheck and contract you have with MSNBC, that you had to put Paul Ryan in the White House in your hypothetical? You probably signed a contract that you would not "endorse" an actual candidate?

I guess it'll do - people can extrapolate what you said to the only one of the three you mentioned who IS running for president. I guess we can all guess who you'll be voting for!

Why? Party Partisanism and the warmth of the spotlight.

I will always respect Pat Buchanan as an op-ed columnist, but as a political guru, he dropped like a brick in my eyes in 2004, when he endorsed George W. Bush for President against Senator John Kerry.

An honest endorsement, from a bona-fide paleoconservative, would have sounded like this: "A warmongering neo-con vs. a socialist Democrat? I endorse neither, as I would never consider voting for either, not even under pain or duress."

Pat's paleoconservatism, unfortunately, is a mile wide and an inch deep.

He's a Republican first and a paleoconservative second---which is how he can say so many intelligent things and still utter absurdities like "Paul Ryan for President."

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

Paul Ryan?

He voted for the auto-bailout, he voted for TARP, he voted to raise the debt ceiling. This is one "Paul" we can do without!

Pat Buchanon has always been....

a solid RP supporter. I don't always agree with his politics, but he seems to generally agree with Rons.

Remember, freedom isn't free.

Liberty is not free, It must be earned!

It would be tough

Can he be speaker if he is not even running for a house seat? I think President is more likely.

The Constitution does not require the Speaker to be a member of

the House.

They can choose anyone they want.

According to Judge Nap Yes

It was news to me though.

Need to switch this around...

Ron Paul President
Rand Paul Majority leader
Paul Ryan Speaker of the House

That's the right order!

Love Liberty, be Vigilant

"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Faith in God will prevail all things!

Much better

.

dexterszyd's picture

He has the order a little mixed up but nevertheless

Ron Paul would make a good Speaker too

For Freedom!
The World is my country, all mankind is my brethren, to do good is my religion.
