Animism-The Roots of all Religions- A recent Study of Theology

Hey Folks!,I have been very busy and have not had the chance to spend time here in quite a while. This is a current side project I have been working on and wanted to share some of what I have found to be in common with all religions.

As you know I believe in the Native American way of looking at the world. I have been spending time to trace it back to it's roots. As it turns out all Religions came from the same ideas The American Indian has had with no change for over 17,000 years.

Science has now proven that they were right, But only recently. The thought that all things, including things like rocks, are alive and have a presence, a soul per say, A harmonic rhythm and balance with all in nature including humans is turning out to be true and most all Religions come from this thought.

The term for these ancient roots of Religion is called Animism. A very interesting concept that was adopted by all cultures,Civilizations and Religions. It has been tried to be debunked by all of the "Civilized" Religions yet it cannot be proven wrong by the advent of modern science.

The now known science of Molecules and Atoms having a non static non solid state in nature has again brought up the question of if all things are alive or not? This includes things that were once considered inanimate such as Mountains, Rocks, Trees, Running Waters and Etc. Not just living animals such as humans. They all come together in to a sum and total called "life".

Animism is very real and it is the root of my beliefs and whether they like it or not, the basis of all Religions. So Here are some references to Animism that become interesting in the least and can be used as a different outlook on all regions. Are there "Spirits" in ALL Religions Absolutely!, The term "Animism" comes from the Latin word "Anima" meaning "Breath or Soul".

This relates to the theory of a possible "God" particle. The one particle in the string theory that is common and "alive" in everything. I truly believe this is a huge possibility and that early man was able to realize it long before we are now with modern technology.

P.S please read the third Native American link in it's full, Very educational in the least! Thank you all for taking the time to read this and consider the concept. Please consider this concept the next time you think that we are not all brothers in beliefs my friends.

The Hunter's Moon waxes, Coyote is on the hunt.

Tales of him enliven many a camp at night.

So I was told.

Carl Jung sought spiritual aspect of the with American Natives.

Just as the wily Coyote hopes to use the natural aspect of gravity to trap his victim.

Bump for later.

Someone bumped this old thread!,lol I showed it to Bob-45 earlier. I see now it needs a little updating.

How to make a universe.

Thanks Paul

I am also going to look into Carl Jung as you suggested. I am hanging out right now waiting any minute for the call to go and be part of my 6th grandchild's birth. I will have a high speed hook up when I get there. Thanks a bunch my friend!

Respectfully disagree.

How do you define "life?" Scientifically, life is defined as requiring specific physical aspects, including

1) Response to stimuli
2) Reproduction
3) Consumption of nutrients
4) Regulation of internal environment
5) Ability to grow

Rocks, water, what-have-you have none of these physical processes. Atoms don't reproduce, nor can they actually respond to stimuli. Water doesn't consume nutrients. These things just ARE.

There's also another definition, that I particularly like - that life is defined by the ability to reduce its own entropy. I should also note that trees have been considered living things for a loooong time; there's never been any question that they are alive in their own weird way.

Now, John McCain, that's a mystery I don't think science can ever solve.

Rocks do not have the breath of life.

Nor do trees or bugs if you consider what the creator of the universe said through his prophets . If the spider takes hold with her hands then most humans say spiders have 8 legs,so who is right a human God created or God? I have made my choice of what I believe have you ? or will new "research" take rank over the BIBLE ? If it does not glorify God it is useless !
How about if all these wonderful discoveries are really the grand architect's way of saying hello to his children? I love science but I hate when humans in white coat's lie to carry water for the bunch of amoral elite evilutionary darwinists .

eventually, science will catch up with what mankind already know

When I first heard about the string theory and vibrations, as a Christian, I immediately thought about creation and how it was brought into being with a voice (vibrations of a frequency).

Then, when thinking about certain verses in the Bible, like "turn those stones into children of Abraham" or "faith as a mustard seed could say to this mountain, move", etc.

Gregory of Nyssa wrote about creation and went quite deeply into animate and inanimate life and substance. It is over my head to comprehend his work but since you are studying this, you may be interested. The name of his work is, On the making of man. It is part of a larger work on creation.

Thanks for your post.

very interesting. Bookmarking to study later, don't have time right now.

"We can see with our eyes, hear with our ears and feel with our touch, but we understand with our hearts."

Thanks Sandy

I found it very interesting That there may be a possibility to tie all religions together from one source. This would make all the conflicts that create harm between current religions misguided in rationality. When you get the time you may find it very interesting in concept. Thanks again!

Better fix that space bar.

It's not making a space after your commas. Looks freako.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

is fire a form of plasma?

and if so, what would that mean?
combustion is fire.
methinks, you are a Deist.

How have you been my friend ?, You are right about Deism being very similar in thought to Animism. The difference would be that Deism did not come around until the 18th century and was based on the preceding thoughts of Animism.

Native American Animistic beliefs have roots that go back to the Paleolithic age.and have not changed since.A few minor adaptations between different tribes but very basic and steadfast in commonalities.

The thing is that one can find roots of Animism in all religions from everywhere. Animism goes all the way back to the beginning of intelligent man.I hope you can find the time to read at least the first link above my friend.Very Interesting stuff.

I remember a friend suggesting that religion had been initiated by Egyptians but he couldn't recall what individual had suggested such. Just something along the lines of the Greek, Vedic, and Egyptian gods all mirroring one another and the coincidence of all having 12 gods.

He also claimed that this same person suggested that the virgin Mary was artificially inseminated. Weird huh?

Also, he claimed that the Egyptian Pyramids are much older than previously thought. And that, to date, only the exterior of the pyramid has been tested and nothing from within. Don't really know if that's the true or not.
