The Iowa Straw Poll Mystery

http://www.prisonplanet.com/the-iowa-straw-poll-mystery.html

The official number of votes counted in the 2011 Iowa Straw Poll is 16,892. The general breakdown of the total is as follows:

4823 – Michelle Bachmann
4671 – Ron Paul
2293 – Pawlenty
1657 – Santorum
1456 – Cain
718 – Perry
567 – Romney
385 – Gingrich
69 – Huntsman
35 – McCotter

Ok, so let’s add up the votes (4823 + 4671 + 2293 + 1657 + 1456 + 718 + 567 + 385 + 69 +35 = 16,674). But wait a minute, the total votes counted were 16,892 right? So, of the total votes counted in the Iowa Straw Poll amounting to 16,892. The ten candidates listed above garnered 16,674. Well that leaves 218 votes unaccounted for.

So where did the remaining 218 votes go?

MSNBC has reported that the 218 is actually only 162 votes that are a “scattering” of ballots for candidates receiving less than one percent of the votes. Ok, fine, so who are these candidates? In addition, if as MSNBC is reporting it is only 162 and not 218, then where did the other 56 votes go? Hey! Let’s confuse the public even more!

Nominees

don't win these things. That close second was what I was hoping for, superstitious- i know.

Do not fall for this, lets move to the next state and focus.

It is fine to point this out, but everyone needs to remember that until someone can provide clear cut unquestionable acts of fraud it is simply hearsay. Stay focused on the prize and do not relent, we have a loooong way to go!

Always remember:
"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." ~ Samuel Adams
If they hate us for our freedom, they must LOVE us now....

Stay IRATE, remain TIRELESS, an

Yes and that is the beginning of

how we start to find out what is really going not by sticking our heads in the sand!

I think it is great that Ron Paul fans are so resourceful!!

Bachmann handed out 6000 tickets and got 4800 votes. Ron Paul hands out 4000 tickets and gets almost 4700 votes. Looks to me like a lot of Ron Paul people didn't get a red t-shirt, but they sure enjoyed a Randy Travis concert...if that's possible.

I'm kidding of course..I listened to Randy Travis when I was young, but playing for Bachmann?...I lost what little respect I had for him. :O)

BTW..the "missing" 56 votes would have made the contest within 100 votes and surely a recount. Not to throw gasoline on the conspiracy fire. I think it worked out perfectly for us. If only the media would be honest and fair, but we shouldn't hold our breath.

Thanks

Herman Cain was just interviewed on CNN and he said Bachmann brought 40 buses to Ames and he had only 4

It is pretty fishy that...

...that the counts were so close. If you ask me, if the poll was fraudulent, then the results are PERFECT:

1) Bachmann wins, BUT...
2) Ron Paul is close enough in second to appease the hoards of Ron Paul voters in attedance.

That way, Bachmann gets the first place attention, but she isn't so far ahead that it seems impossible for the hoards of Paul supporters in attendance. Enough to appease Paulians, but enough for Bachmann to get first place and the real media attention.

Seriously, though, I saw WAY more Ron Paul signs, heard from people there that there were hoards of Paul supporters, and I heard only PAUL supporters chanting his name after the results were announced (migth just be cuz their so dedicated, though).

oh well, keep spreading the message....

Out of State

I assume Ron Paul had supporters from out-of-state, including one bus-load from Texas of family members, none of whom could vote.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Still surprised, but not really

Four years ago I witnessed what could possibly have been vote fraud at Ames. Yesterday was very similar.
I was there from 9:30 to 5:45. It was the biggest Ron Paul party I have ever attended. It was great! Ron was great, Rand was great, and so was Wheed, Jordan, and the Ron Paul singers. Got to talk with a lot of new Ron Paulians running escorts to the polling door. It was great.
From a childs point of view it looked like 100 Ron Paul supporters in Blue and Red t-shirts, 6 Paulenty supporters in green, and a smattering of Bachman and Santorum shirts.
The un-televised revolution continues and those that count the votes decide.

Everything about the final

Everything about the final results was odd. First they take longer than expected to count the votes. Then when the GOP chairman read off the winner he unusually only said the name of the winner without mentioning anyone else or the vote count like they did last straw poll (and most other straw polls for that matter). The results don't add up to the total amount of votes cast. After the strange results were read on Fox News you can hear the Fox News anchors saying in a vexed tone about the reading of the results by candidly stating "That's it?" The whole process stinks, and there will never be any answers because accountability is of no concern to the establishment in politics.

Amen

I was there, too..and concur with your post.

Non issue

Lets get real, you don't think there are people out there writing in Huckabee, Palin, or Guiliani.

Quit acting like idiots, I would have expected even more votes for others.

Exactly right

When the count was delayed and when we later learned the vote was so close vote fraud was the most likely conclusion.

Vote fraud is the major issue now for the campaign. Please read this http://www.dailypaul.com/174088/assessment-of-the-situation-...

Thanks Lars

such a long delay + the very close outcome...

Thanks for the link.
Enjoy your Sunday.

With so much distrust of

With so much distrust of everything it seems, if IOWA can't look after 16,892 votes cast with trust and accuracy in a straw poll how can its residents rely on state or federal election procedures? Most MSM, especially FOX, will always minimalize Ron Paul's popularity and will always supersize 'til you gag the establishment's favored. They want their wars. In a following interview, the chair of Iowa's Republican caucus, himself, (an anonymous fellow... I can't remember his name) did not even offer comment on Ron Paul's success even when asked???

Hi Legal

Very strange indeed.

I think there should be a re-count.

“I have joined your revolution and I’m proud to be part of what you want to do.” - Ron Paul

good morning Phantom

Also note that they were saying the results would be ready at 5pm ET but they came much later...I knew right away it was fishy for them to take so long to announce the results.

With only 152 votes seperating 1st and 2nd there should be a recount...there are errors...it's human...

since voting ended 5p EST/4pm IA time

how could they have announced them at the same time?

with the missing 56 votes

going for Paul, there would be less than 100 votes separating them, which would mean a recount. That is IF the recount rule of 100 votes is a real rule. I know it was talked about yesterday but I haven't read the rules of the straw poll myself, so I wouldn't swear by it.

I think there should be recount with this 0.9% vote difference

0.9% space between winner and second place...
don't know the Ames Straw Poll rules...could do some research online.

God bless you brother!
Enjoy your Sunday.
