Allen West attacks Ron Paul

"Just a few nights ago, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul stated that he did not have a problem with Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon because ‘everyone else already has one’ at the Presidential Debate in Iowa. This assertion did not sit well with Congressman Allen West (R-FL), as he expressed his strong disagreement with Paul’s statement during a Tea Party social event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Paul’s McGovernite-inspired foreign policy signals just how disconnected he is to the reality of Iran the mortal threat it poses to the United States and the world."

Objection...

do we really think Iran would nuke the city they consider holy, Jerusalem? Israel is small and Palestine would be in the way of a nuke, do we really think Iran would risk the fallout from the rest of the middle east for inadvertently wiping them out too? Israel's other border countries, Jordan and Lebanon, to receive fallout from Iranian nuke would also constitute middle east rage against Iran. I just don't think it is possible or reasonable that Iran would risk this.

Because of course, if they WERE a threat

WE are the only ones with a military in this world. And since we're so close, it only stands to reason it would be our job to deal with it. Not Europe. If Dr. Paul is wrong, we're all screwed!

Ron Paul should ask Congressman West

Why so many of his fellow Iraqi servicemen disagree. Are they wasting their money Congressman West?

The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it

Can someone help me understand

How does Iran pose a threat with no means of attacking us? They have about 2 ships in their navy, a small air force and no missiles that can reach the US. I guess they could give a bomb to a terrorist. But whatever the method, the assumption is that Iran is either crazy, suicidal or just stupid. They know we have 20k+ nukes and could wipe them from the planet within the hour. What would Iran gain, other than extinction, from attacking us? I seriously do not understand the whole Iran isnthe next Hitler case. Why are people so afraid of them?

SteveMT's picture

If you remove the word "us" and insert "Israel," then it....

all becomes clear. Israel controls us, and America is the puppet of Israel, to do their bidding, warmongering, and fighting. Israel sees Iran as a threat to them, they are not a threat to us.

Allen west is so slow he didnt realize

that agreeing with ron paul is the newest fashion in town. Hating on him was so last cycle, shill boy.

I thought I might like Allen

I thought I might like Allen West when I first learned about him, but no chance of that happening now. What a complete moron for dissing Ron Paul. Allen West does not hold a candle to the Good Doctor.

...

Allen West knows that if he

Allen West knows that if he does what he's told, one day he'll be the black John McCain.

Allen West and Bachmann are

Allen West and Bachmann are an example of why I no longer consider myself interested in or apart of the Tea Party.

West did vote against extending the patriot act provisions though.

He has a very militant (extremist) view when it comes to foreign policy.

Yes I get that foreign policy

Yes I get that foreign policy re obliterating Iran is a common goal for both democrats and establishment GOP. I can only guess at the reason for this.

Is it just me or does allen

Is it just me or does allen west look like Dilbert:) http://www.dilbert.com/

funny - I've been thinking the same thing.

....

Allen West

should be in prison, not in Congress.

Read his Wiki page, where they told him to retire or be kicked out of the Army for torturing prisoners.

West is absolutely the lowest form of filthy scum on the planet.

I supported West also, my mistake.

Which is Why Ron needs to change his remarks along these lines:

I don’t know if anyone has brought this up before, but I must say it. After 27 years in the army and being a Republican, the only way to mitigate the anti-war/isolationist comments are to change the answers and make the answer to these questions in harmony with the Constitution.

Ron MUST start addressing the isolationist comments this way:

Mod: Dr. Paul, Americans fear your “isolationist stance” on international affairs. In particular, you would allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. What can you say to those Americans to change their minds about you?

Dr. Paul: Well MOD, Americans need to know that I am not a “Isolationist” I am a “Constitutionalist”. I believe in following the constitution and I will force adherence to the Constitution by doing the following.

1) I will withdraw all of our troops from foreign countries and only send my sons to another country when the Congress does their job and declares a war as the Constitution states.

2) I will sign and authorize any “Letter of Marque and Reprisal” against any person or entity that exhibits a threat against our Country once deemed so by 2/3rds of the Congress and Senate.

By doing these actions the Representatives of the States and the People then have a clear opportunity to tell their Representatives which course of action they “The People” want them to take. Also, by the next election if “We the People” want a different course of action, “We” can remove that Representative from representing us.

Pay attention around the time: 3:30 Read the above and listen to what Rand says.

Too bad because I thought I liked Allen West.

I have heard him talk (he's an Iraq vet I believe) and he has said some good things.

He fancies himself a "Tea Party" candidate.

But ANYONE who disses Ron Paul is OFF MY LIST.

So apparently West thinks we should be the world's policeman.

And use our force of arms to spread our goodness.

How well has that been working out for us?

Wake up West! You swore an oath to the Constitution. Did you forget that?

Our militarism is UN-Constitutional.

Because our military adventurisms are all aggressive, pre-emptive and provacative acts of war without congressional declarations of war.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

I like it

"But ANYONE who disses Ron Paul is OFF MY LIST."

Me too, it is very good first gauge of people.

Another one is "If they are presented by the mainstream media they are probably lying".

Yeah

I liked Col. West as well, and still think he's a decent guy (from what I can make of him), but I disagree with him more often than not.

A signature used to be here!

3 reasons not to care about this...

1. Who the HELL is Alan West?

2. No one knows him and 80% know ron paul

3. RP will just OWN his ass just like Santorum, and Giulliani, playing with ron paul's knowlege is playig with fire, these Dumbasses will be embarrassed!

Well...

1. Allen West is a former Lieutenant Colonel who was relieved of command. There is a fairly thorough Wikipedia article on him and his misdeeds. He's also a fan of Michael Ledeen, apparently.

2. Please don't make assumptions and pull numbers from out of thin air.

3. Look around you; who or what is right and wrong matters little to the average American anymore. It's all about which person says what they want to hear. West preaches endless war in Israel's name and blames Muslims and "the left" for just about everything, and sadly, that's what most so-called Republicans want to hear.

(edit - typo)

I didnt know any of that

im in los angeles ca, allen west is the exact antithesis of all political thought here. I havent heard of him but i have heard of Ron Paul obviously alot of people in the city are Dems, its amazing how the media has created alternate planets between city/rural places crazy

here's the latest news on

Great propaganda by Mr. West

just exactly what Ron Paul didn't say
remember they can't even make gasoline from oil statement
that was in reference to there nuclear capabilities

Please listen better Mr. West propaganda will not work this
time, the people are waking up finally to the real terrorist threat

"Freedom is a right that can never be won in war, only by each individual "

This is deceptive

and distorts the reality of the issue IN PROPER CONTEXT.

I'm quite certain Ron Paul has a problem with Iran having nuclear arms just as he probably does ANY country having the impulsive necessity to possess nuclear arms. I mean, what sane, reasonable person doesn't.

By the same token, it is just as logical, rational and reasonable to say, without one's position being contradictory, to hold that one does NOT have a problem with a country possessing the nuclear capabilities to in the sense that it's to protect oneself from offensive strikes by others who do have the capabilities. I mean, who would really want to be told that you have to use a knife in a gunfight? THAT is unreasonable, irrational and insane and cannot be taken seriously if you are the one who possesses the knife!

West and other neocon warmongers are going to mis-state and bend this argument to their imperialist, world-dominating worldview in the hopes that they can once again strike fear in the hearts and minds of naive, gullible and intellectually-deficient listeners (a.k.a. many voters).

Joke's on Them

Well said, Steve Miller. The joke's on West and his band of fools. Meanwhile, here's a good song you sang years ago. Rock on, Space Cowboy.

Thanks

for the tune! Yeah, I like Steve Miller....

Besides....

Iran is a DIRT POOR nation with conditions that most Americans simply cannot appreciate just by looking at a few pictures or images off the web. Remember what Ron Paul said in the debate? They can't even make enough GASOLINE to fuel themselves consistently on a daily basis. How long does one really think it would take them to get fully operational IN EVERY NECESSARY WAY on a nuclear level AND THEN be a threat to us here in the U.S.? Not overnight to say the least.

The neocon warmongers' arguments are bogus and fraudulent if you stop and think about the details.

afraid you're misinformed about Iran

Iran is NOT "dirt poor," and most Americans would be blown away if they truly and realistically understood how technologically developed, beautiful, and hospitable Iran and the Iranian people are.
Iran has the 3rd largest reserve of natural gas in the world. Iran has gas shortages because the US & Israel impose sanctions on any corporation that would help Iran develop its fields -- how dumb is that?
Iran poses no nuclear threat to the United States because Iran poses no nuclear threat to the United States!! Iran has no desire, intention, history, or pattern of threatening its neighbors, much less a country 6000 miles distant.
If you want to learn a bit about Iran, check out raceforiran.com. If you want to hear one of Iran's leaders -- a man of the calibre of Dr. Paul, see Charlie Rose's interview of Dr. Larijani from Nov. 15 2011.
I DO agree that the neocons and warmongers arguments are bogus and must be refuted, but with reality and facts, not with further ill-informed opinions. Respectfully.

Landon,

I should have been more clear, so thanks for catching that.

When I say most Iranian's are "dirt poor" what I mean is they have NO OWNERSHIP of many of Iran's industries. And if one doesn't own property, one cannot and does not possess the ability to create real wealth, properly understood.....

Seen from this perspective, much of what is seen in Iran is illusory.

So, the state and those within the power center may be wealthy, but the average Iranian certainly isn't.

Thanks for the reference too....I'll check it out when I have time....

Any nation with even one nuke

and a half-assed delivery system (sub-continental missile) could load the thing on a cargo ship and launch it from off our shores to score a high-altitude EMP strike that would destroy America. That's why we need to be good neighbors and not spread democracy at the point of a gun.
