"I'm trying to change the course of history" Ron Paul on FOX News' America Newsroom 8/16/11

Megan Kelly showed the newest ad, in full, before Ron Paul came on.

Interview included: lack of media attention, matchup against Obama, "I'm trying to change the course of history", foreign policy (Iran specifically), the fact that "peace" candidates Bush and Obama were pushing a "no nation building foreign policy" before they were elected, war propaganda and "not intervening if Israel was attacked by Iran because Israel can take care of themselves and additionally, Iran is not suicidal".

thank you to LatinsforPaul for locating the interview and to libertywriters for the YouTube post!

Call was via Skype
(but no telephone although I always thought it was funny and cute).

He "stuck" the landing - in gymnastics speech. Way to go, RP! That ending was truly awesome.

When Asked

When Asked the hypothetical question of whether or not Paul would intervene if Iran nuked Israel, Dr Paul needs to say the following:

The Constitution doesnt give the President the authority to decide WHEN to use military force. Only the Congress can decide WHEN to use military force. If the Congress declares war on any enemy, as President, I will execute my oath of office, lead our troops, win the war, and come home.

If he wants to give his personal belief on the matter, Paul could say something like this:

I personally dont believe it is moral to send American men and women into battle to die in a foreign land,to force the taxpayer to spend billions and trillions on war, unless the American People are directly threatened by an enemy. Unless the people are under attack, and the people approve of the war effort through a declaration of war.

Just my 2 cents.

Nice but a Little Off

Nice answer. But the Constitution doesn't permit offensive war. Still, your answer's pretty decent.

I posted this during the DP "glitch" and it got knocked off the page. This is our time!

Thomas Jefferson: “Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever."

Viva La Revolucion!

Jon Stewart must

have embarrassed FOX so they put Ron Paul on during the day time when no one is watching TV, They should put him on at night or primetime but O'Reilly wouldn't allow that.

Megan is Slowly Evolving

completely agree! megan was owned by stewart also regarding maternal leave and we clearly saw how double edge megan is, but she is slowly evolving but asking ron paul. the more they suppress Ron Paul the greater the voices of the masses will become.

"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty."

you already changed the course of history Ron.

thank you.

There's a new sheriff in town. I love the new and improved Ron Paul. Assertive and also letting them know some of his accomplishments. Rock on Ron. Remember our hero on his birthday, Donate we need to fight, he is.

PLEASE get an HD camera, soft lighting, and better audio...

Will someone (who has the resources to) PLEASE tell him to get an upgrade in his equipment. The lighting from above creates a very unpleasant shadow.

He could get an HD webcam....

... at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003M2YT96?ie=UTF8&tag=vide...

... some soft lighting from kinoflo like this adjustable model at http://kinoflo.com/Lighting%20Fixtures/Diva-Lite/Diva-Lite.htm and/or some DayFlo lighting from http://www.eoslightingllc.com/cm/photographers/dayflo-ez/lit...

(I use both and they create a soft light where you can get away without having any makeup)

... and a good mic at http://www.bluemic.com/snowball/

We've worked so hard to get his campaign going strong, and to go on national television like that is a bummer to see for someone like me who produces video for a living. Part of what I do is making talking heads look good for less than $700 a shoot, and I know the movement can do better if they see how much this area can be improved by showing professional video to compliment the dialogue.

How can someone relay this OBVIOUS message to him? So frustrating...

On a positive note, it was a better than average interview from a context point of view. I'm thankful they were able to show his take on it.

I'll buy

the camera, if someone else pitches in on the lights and mic.
I bet that I can get "Nui" (dp member and cameraman/producer extraordinaire) to drive with me to Lake Jackson to set it up. (150 miles)

I just need to get Carol or RP's permission.

I'm totally in for this. This is atrocious, and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Blue Screen the background behind the good doctor...

and overlay it with images of the troops that have contributed to the campaign!

Get him some of that diane sawyer lighting and filtering. :D

just a thought

There is no excuse for not having a top of the line webcam. I assume he has a good fast internet connection.

He looks awful in those webcam interviews, his face is distorted and his nose looks bigger than it is! Looks matter, unfortunately.

'Cause there's a monster on the loose

You are absolutely right....

I have tested people's response to the talking head style for 11 years of my life from thousands of people including the average voter.

The whole setup mentioned above can be done for $650-$1000. I only wish my past and future donations would go directly to this to visually appeal to the masses.

To be blunt, to capture the nomination, something has to be done about that.

Thanks for your input.

I am working on getting the equipment here in Texas as I type this..

I just got off the phone with a lighting guy at our local photography supply store, and told him the situation.

I don't think RP is going to want some big bulky light shining in his face.
There are apparently lights that attach to the computer monitor, that can achieve roughly the same thing, for much less money.
I can get the camera you suggested, and the mic as well as a lighting setup that is not so intrusive.
(all locally)
I have an expert that can travel with me to his home and help set it up.
Do you have any suggestions on a lighting setup that is smaller, and more compact?

Here are some more alternatives....

Some options I use when in smaller situations are

http://litepanels.com/ (such as the miniplus series or the 1X1's which are adjustable, but some soft diffusion may help, as those don't have any that come with them)

The trick is that because his office with books is behind him is that he'll need some backlighting, which is why I mentioned the EOS kit above, because there are two lights off to the side of him (so he's not squinting), they are adjustable by just turning on or off the number of lights in each one, and the backlight can give a distinction between him and his bookcase.

Hope that helps. Good luck :)

How about these?

I don't have a grand to drop on lighting.

I can do the HD camera you mentioned (which has a built in mic) and something like this light. That's over 200 bucks plus time and travel expenses etc.

Maybe a setup similar to this?

I'm sure if we did a Chip-In solely for this...

that we could have the lighting and one of the better cams.

Get him some of the Diane Sawyer beauty lighting and filtering. :D

We'd just have to check with the campaign first.

Mods - can you possibly replace the YT video

with this one

same interview but I noticed the one I posted earlier, is stretched out more horizontally. The one in this post, from MoxNews, is clearer.

thx Mods

for updating the video.

Call Headquarters !

Make sure Dr Ron Paul gets a better Skype camera.
He sounds great!!
Camera is kinda ... fish eye or something
I am sure he will get a lot of use out of it.

This was by FAR, one of his strongest interviews...

He explained his positions clearly and sensibly, to where he could make sense to anyone! He cleaned up his Iran comment enough, that I cannot see anyone being able to make the statement that "he wants Iran to get the nuke", any longer. The interviewer was extremely fair and patient. She let Ron answer these questions perfectly.

Thanks and way to go Ron Paul....

some great interviews lately

the piers one was really good too.

ron, please stop saying youre

ron, please stop saying youre "just running on george bush's foreign policy of 2000." george bush's ultimate foreign policy was 180 from his campaign. the disgusted democrats will shy away when they hear "george bush" no matter what context.

Agreed there.

I know he's making a point, but he needs to move on from that commentary. Seriously, it was obvious that George Bush was an internationalist in 2000, and I certainly never considered voting for Bush.

Yep and

People can't stand Bush anymore...that is what got us Obama!
