∞ Something simple I like to do when discussing Libya

I like to make this statement...

Imagine if NATO intervened in the civil war, and chose the side of the rebels...

You almost always get the response, "Isn't that the case?"

To which I reply, "Yes. Now let me add one word."

Imagine if NATO intervened in the American civil war, and chose the side of the rebels...

Just thought I'd share a simple, easy and effective way to make a great point. Have a great day all.

That's golden right there.

yep.

Nice~! I like to

draw attention to the fact that this noble cause has terrible consequences: In an effort to take Col K out, we dropped a bomb and killed 3(?) of his grandkids.

Now I simply ask the person; "How big a piece of dirt do I have to be to justify killing my grandchildren?"

Stay out of their business... yes a bad man will continue to do bad things, but better than the good people doing bad things.

....where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is LIBERTY. 2 Corinthians 3:17(b)

***wants are unlimited, means are scarce...***

hehe thanks

those are good points. I have argued something similar and been told that the killing of kids from bombs is just collateral damage and is at the fault of Gaddafi for not bending knee. Can you believe that? It's sad but true.

I also do draw attention to other things after making this point as well, like:

- NATO was created as a system of collective defense where its member states agreed to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party

- NATO's first Secretary General, Lord Ismay, famously stated the organization's goal was "to keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down".

Or in my own words I say that NATO was founded to defend against external threats and ever since Bosnia they have gone from defenders to aggressors. Libya easily shows this as they've attacked noone.
This usually leads into sovereignty and sovereign countries which is ultimately important.

Nice

You might hurt someone's brain, though, making them think like that....

I may borrow that little statement for a few people I know.
