Ron Paul Campaign Welcomes Constitutional Law Heavyweight Bruce Fein as Senior Advisor

LAKE JACKSON, Texas--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign announced today that constitutional and international law expert Bruce Fein will join the campaign as senior advisor on legal matters.

“Bruce Fein’s participation adds to our campaign’s already intellectual heft, enabling us to more broadly engage the conversation about constitutionality, civil liberties and the dangers to national security of an increasingly interventionist foreign policy,” said Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

Mr. Fein served as associate deputy attorney and general counsel to the Federal Communications Commission under President Ronald Reagan. He served as Research Director for Republicans on the Joint Congressional Committee on Covert Arms Sales to Iran, and on the American Bar Associations Committee on Presidential Signing Statements. He has been a Visiting Fellow for Constitutional Studies at the Heritage Foundation and an adjunct scholar at American Enterprise Institute. He has advised numerous countries on constitutional reform, including South Africa, Hungary and Russia.

From http://www.oakparkrepublic.com/2011/08/august-23-2011-1209-p...

Mr. Fein graduated from Harvard Law School with honors in 1972. He has worked in and out of government in Washington, D.C. for 39 years, and penned a weekly column for The Washington Times for more than two decades. He is a frequent witness before Congress.

Mr. Fein is the founding member of Bruce Fein & Associates, Inc., and is a principal of a public advocacy organization, The Lichfield Group.

He is the author of Constitutional Peril: The Life and Death Struggle for our Constitution and Democracy, and American Empire Before The Fall.

About his appointment, Mr. Fein stated: “I am honored to advance the Republican presidential aspirations of Ron Paul. He is the only candidate in the field who understands and practices the constitutional principles and philosophy of the Founding Fathers that made this nation a government of the people, by the people, for the people. He is the only candidate who knows that limited government and war are antonyms, not synonyms. He is the only candidate who repudiates aimless, endless wars at extravagant expense. And Dr. Paul is the only candidate that recognizes that the glory of a Republic is liberty, not domination.”

I don't think...

You could find a much more intelligent person than Bruce Fein. This is awesome!

Tom Woods... who has

Tom Woods... who has adamantly stood up for and defended Ron Paul in the face of unparalleled adversity. Doug Wead? Bruce Fein? It's like Ron wants to make it hard for me to support him.

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

From that web site

"Ms. Edmonds began her career in 1993 as Project Director for the Rostropovich Foundation, a non-profit humanitarian organization providing medical and food aid to children of the former Soviet Union. She re-located to St. Petersburg, Russia and managed correspondence, shipments, inventory and security precautions in the largest children’s hospital in St. Petersburg. Later, she worked as the Executive Director & Co-Founder of Edmonds Industries, a Consulting and Holding Company, investing in international business and residential real estate development. Ms. Edmonds also worked as a volunteer for the Alexandria CASA program (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for abused children, and as an instructor for the Alexandria Office on Women’s Domestic Violence Program."

Uh, this should make one even a little suspect of the motives at work here.

Tom Woods admitted he was a neocon too

I don't get the "purists only" filter you're trying to apply.

Can only the individuals in the grassroots seek to correct the errors of their pasts, but those of more accomplished significance cannot?

To find out how dirty a candidate is

To find out how dirty a candidate is- all you have to do is look at their campaign attorneys.
In 08 Hilary Clinton had Mark Penn, Romney had Cofer Black of Blackwater and Obama had pentagon attys riddled throughout his campaign.
Paul chooses the one who is as spotless as he!
Bruce Fein made the conviction on Clinton for lying to congress and the people about Lewinsky.
The democrats were crying foul and Fein said all he had to do is admit he lied and Fein would drop it.
Precedence of lying to the American people, caught and not prosecuted would have been a dangerous milestone to allow to be set for the liars in government and Fein was determined not to let that happen, and he didnt!

I was wondering when they would roll him out!
His rejoining the campaign as he did in 08, is a rock star ticket.
I always thought/hoped Dr. Fein would be Dr. Pauls choice for VP.
They finish each others sentences, as do all the true constitutionalists.

"OH NO! He has a SON?" Neoconservatives and Liberals EVERYWHERE!

Rand Paul 2016

The Feinster

Is just what the doctor ordered. Mr. Fein is pure brilliance. Likened to a Bernini sculptor of law. :D

RP supporters will be thinking of heavenly thoughts tonite. :)

Nope, that's all.

Dude is a BOSS

Dude is a BOSS

So maybe Bruce could fill the

So maybe Bruce could fill the Attorney General slot, leaving the Judge free to be the Veep. Ha!

Edwin Vieira... would be the best Attorney General

would be the best Attorney General!

In my "dream world" I picture...

In my "dream world" I picture... Judge Nap as A.G. and Fein a Supreme Court justice.

Additionally... Kucinich as Secretary of Defense (how great would that be!!) but I kind of draw a blank when it comes to Vice President. (Although Alex Jones as V.P. sure might make the Doc "JFK" proof??)

Gary Johnson

would be a good VP choice I think

Consider this possibility: a Paul/Paul ticket! Ron and Rand! That would go a long way towards making Ron assassination-proof.

It would just embolden a two-for-one attempt.

Those are two patriots I wouldn't want to ride a plane with.

But I would take a bullet for Ron any day.

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

If Ron Did That

he'd lose a lot of support from people on the left who've finally opened their eyes and come around to support Ron Paul. Ron's tent should become bigger and encompass people who are anti-war and anti-corporate rule.
Bruce Fein is a wonderful addition to Ron Paul's team, and I'd like to see him nominate Fein for the Supreme Court!

No! No!!! NO!!!

Don't encourage them to target both. Alex Jones would stop any such thought cold. He would just freak them out.

Good point about Alex Jones as VP making RP "JFK" proof!

The Biden pick has worked pretty well for Obama so far.

I think that was the idea in mind with that choice.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

I think it's time for a "Fein" bomb!

Feel free to join in!

Awesome, a Constitutional

Awesome, a Constitutional lawyer to back up his stance on the Constitution and to accurately discuss it's meaning the way it was intended. Another A list member joins the ranks

Mr. Fein's speech @ CPAC

"American Empire: Before the Fall."

great addition

Bruce Fein is an awesome intellectual to listen to.

Bruce Fein!

Bruce is a Fein addition to the campaign!

♫♫ You say you want a R[ƎVO˩]UTION ♫ Well you know ♫♫

Does that mean RP has been "approved"?

I do not know much about him

I do not know much about him but guess he would know if the FEC or FCC need to arrest the media marginalization of Ron..:)

Great Choice!

I LOVE Bruce.

Is it the nine inch tongue, little fluffy-head?

Another great selection by the campaign..

5 Stars for this pick...excellent job

At the 2008 Rally for the Republic I was a volunteer...

I was assigned to help Mr. Fein before his speech.

He's an intelligent and principled man and gave a wonderful speech that day.

I think he's a great addition to the Ron Paul 2012 campaign.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

I respect Sibel Edmonds

courage & whistleblowing.

The fact that Fein was a AEI American Enterprise adjunct member is not good, to me.

Sibel Edmonds is WRONG

I once respected Sibel Edmonds. I credited her purported "whistleblowing." No longer. Her unsupported rants against Fein have irreparably damaged her credibility.

I know Mr. Fein. I have read many of his articles and his most recent book. I have conversed with him for hours after speeches. I have heard him speak on numerous occasions. He is no “neoconservative plant,” and he will bolster, not destroy, Ron Paul’s admirable campaign.

Listen to his congressional testimony. Read his articles. He loves the Constitution and Ron Paul’s cause. He lives for both. Every article he has written (and he’s published hundreds or thousands over the years) conveys righteous indignation at the shredding of constitutional protections by our government over the course of the last century. His passion for due process is almost unique in our time.

Edmonds notes that Fein assisted in revising constitutions in countries with tarnished human rights records. But Constitutional revision is all the more necessary for dysfunctional governments. Fein’s work on each of the three-dozen constitutions he helped to revise was aimed at improving our world. Edmonds’ own experience pales in comparison.

Edmonds relies on the fanatical publication called “The Asian Tribune” to support the offensive proposition (or childish insult) that Fein is a “crusty beltway prostitute.” But The Asian Tribune is a known propaganda organ for the Government of Sri Lanka, which made an enemy of Fein by marginalizing and slaughtering Sri Lankan Tamils, an ethnic minority. It’s editor, KT Rajasingham, revealed his propagandist role during a deposition in connection with a defamation suit in Sweeden. See http://www.uktamilnews.com/index.php/archives/17974. To learn more about what sparked Fein’s activism, review the documentary at http://www.channel4.com/programmes/sri-lankas-killing-fields....

Fein has not worked for AEI since 1981. Back then, Wolfowitz and the Neocons were absent. And Fein’s work included Supreme Court analysis only. Regardless, Fein has nothing to do with AEI or the neoconservatives now. His belief in non-interventionism is both lasting and heartfelt.

Edmonds’ only evidence to the contrary originates from speeches by Fein’s wife, Mattie. But it is absurd and arguably sexist to assume that a husband and wife agree on all things. Are James Carville’s views identical to those of Mary Matalin? Mrs. Fein’s views are circumstantial evidence at best, and they are expressly contradicted by Mr. Fein’s consistent, vehement, and vocal adherence to a non-interventionist government limited by the constitution. Why would a neoconservative advocate impeachment for Bush and Cheney?

Edmonds may be fired up against Fein because he quite reasonably ensured her exclusion from a case before the Ohio Elections Commission a few years back. Edmonds’ testimony was deemed irrelevant because she admitted she knew nothing specifically about the congresswoman plaintiff. Had I sat on the Ohio Elections Commission, I would have excluded her, too.

Edmonds’ fanaticism deserves rebuke by lovers of liberty. Fein is a champion of our cause. He is one of the few who advocated impeaching Cheney, Bush, and Obama alike for their lawlessness. He deserves respect. I suggest Edmonds read the wealth of reliable information on Fein before continuing to spread the false accusations and reckless speculation contained in the post above.

By Edmonds' lunatic standards, she could be labeled be a neo-conservative plant herself for damaging the credibility of detractors from the movement.
