DailyKos and Ron Paul

0 votes

I've been a member at DailyKos for almost 4 years. I used to find them to be very intelligent, and good people. However they have continued to push me farther and farther away. First for having the audacity to question 9/11, then anytime I would comment on Ron Paul, I was attacked. They are rabid over there now. It's really quite sad to see them that way. At one time I thought very highly of that crowd.

The last two days they have had articles posted by Kos himself, alleging that RP is a racist. (Kind of an old bit) I think we have them spooked over there. They are losing supporters to RP at a steady rate, and they attack anyone who dares defend RP with a lynch-mob type mentality. I never would have expected to see something like that there.

They need to realize that by antagonizing, and name-calling RP supporters that they are hurting themselves even more, and turning people off to them forever. (Such as myself).

I don't really have a point here, other than to point out how afraid of us they are becoming. I guess if their party wasn't pro-war, pro-torture, etc.... they wouldn't be in this fix.

I'm not advocating going to DailyKos to argue with these folks, but you may want to take a look around at what the attitude is there.

Kos

This is a site for extreme socialists...you won't find much sympathy for a free marketeer like Ron over there.

Sounds like Hannity's site.

And they call us the fringe.

I have checked in on daily

I have checked in on daily kos myself and it's not for me.

But what I liked about daily kos is how they keep track of how the democrats vote on issues they find important. I would like it if daily paul would do more of that on issues important to us, such as pork barrel spending and civil liberties.

I truly believe that we have to pay better attention to how Congress votes so that we can replace any elected official who betrays or ignores the will of the people. I can't believe how corrupt and self-serving our government is. With the power of the internet I know we can completely reform it.

I am a member of Kos

I also Support Ron Paul.. The site is for Dems who want to elect Dems.. Not Republicans. So I do understand thier opposition to your posting. I think they are over the top but if someone came here and tried to get us to support Hillary you all would not be very nice. Please relize I am not condoning thier behavior but try to understand that dynamic.. Part of it also has to 8 years of Bush/Cheney/Rove.. They Dispise the Republican party for abandoning the Rule of law.. They blame you all because you voted a 2nd time for Bush and have a lot of disdane for you.. Now that you have awakend they are justifiably angry and susspicious. Bush and the GOP as a whole fostered this vehamate hate and they are just a outgrowth of it.. So try to understand...

I post at DK and they do not hate me.. they may not agree with me.. but they do not tell me to go to hell etc.. I have been thier since it began.. and while temporarly not a Dem I will return after the primaries and election of Paul to the Office. That bieng said we should not Prosletize at Kos.. its like them comeing here and proslytizing us...

Dangers of Groupthink

DailyKos has certainly gone downhill over the years. I used to read the blog on a regular basis and though I rarely agreed with them, there were always those who could make me think with their comments, which I appreciated. Now, it just infuriates me. Every response to anything Ron Paul is either "he's a racist" or "he's a loon/kook/idiot/moron/etc." Very few over there will take the time to respond intelligently as to why they disagree with Ron Paul, why they think he is racist (without conspiracy theories of Don Black or the debunked newsletter argument). It is just one big hate-fest. Reminds me more of a high school mentality with an over saturation of group-think and "I am cool too" now than anything else. Rational, intelligent discourse has been replaced by attacks and snarky one-liners. Very sad.

Just goes to show you that any social group of otherwise intelligent and thoughtful people can descend into absolute mindlessness via complacency, lack of new ideas, and groupthink.

Proof positive that debate within any group is essential for that group's survival, which is why I love the fact that (aside from a few individuals who use "troll" for anyone they disagree with) there is plenty of debate here.

I've enver checked out that

I've enver checked out that site before.... disgusting!! Lots of hate for Ron Paul, lots of name calling, but very little discussion of positives on other candidates or actual policies.

A real POS site, if you ask me.

Daily Kos

The people over there are frightened. I suspect (but do not know for sure) that the members of the site are federal bureaucrats. They fear loss of employment and (worse from their point of view) loss of the Washington power-driven "culture." The stream of filth directed against Dr. Paul will get worse before it gets better.

I'm starting to come around

to that viewpoint myself. They are just so quick to try and silence someone who doesn't toe thier line. They resort to what I call O'Reilly like tactics; ie shout you down, ridicule you, threaten you with banishment.

dailypaul.com set to have more daily page views than dailykos

It looks like we're just about to pass dailykos in daily page views. no wonder they are freaking out.

Have you compared the Alexa

ratings for dailykos and dailypaul. One more double for dailypaul and we got them. Not bad in less than a year.

In the weeds...

Check out what Devils.Advocate. has to say over there. Others are involved, just a little more "subtly".

I do agree, there is room for discussion in an intelligent manner over there that CAN convert some to vote for Ron Paul.

You can't argue with

uneducated extremists pushing their agenda. They have to WANT to look at other ideas. Besides...that place makes me feel all ooky inside and it makes my toes curl and ache. I'm afraid of going there anymore. It kinda makes me glad of the DHS. (Naaaaa...just kidding!)

I wouldn't

go so far as to call them "uneducated extremists". There are a lot of smart people there. What is disappointing is that they are revealing themselves as hypocrites. If you are "progressive" why wouldn't you back a pro civil liberties, anti-war candidate? But continue to support candidates who will extend the war, continue domestic spying etc...?! Makes no sense to me.

From what I see in the comments it appears that the Daily Kos

site is frequented by "professional bloggers" whose job it is to clean up after unfavorable comments about their candidate or defend their favorite "public affairs committee" group.
