CNN and “Opinion Research Center” — The Numbers Don’t Add Up

My critique of the most recent CNN/ORC poll (released August 29).

In the “South” region, Ron Paul received 10% support among those polled. Given that it makes up such a notable portion of the total sample, this earns Ron Paul roughly 4.15% of the total vote in the sample, regardless of what respondents say in other regions. Yet, Paul receives just 6% of the total vote in the sample. Doing the quick calculation, this means that Paul must have received just 3.16% of the vote in the other 3 regions – West, Midwest, and Northeast – combined.

As far as differences between these regions are negated, that’s effectively a national poll with Paul receiving just above 3% of the vote. The last national poll in which he registered so low (without the presence of Giuliani)? An ABC News/Washington Post poll dated April 14-17, which had Paul at 2%, and a full 50% of respondents offering Other/None/Undecided.

Needless to say, this result falls well outside the expected range of Paul’s support across the rest of the country. In fact, the most recent Gallup poll (which had Paul at a 13%, admittedly on the high end of his polling range) showed that Ron Paul actually performed better in the West, Midwest, and Northeast than he did in the South...

Fake Polls Influence Support for Perry

I was astounded this morning when I asked fellow employees who they would vote for President. Most of the respondents answered Rick Perry. I asked why Perry and most of them said he can beat Obama or anybody but Obama. I asked them what they thought of Ron Paul and some answered they didn't know much about him or he can't win, or nobody knows him.

I gotta tell ya that was hard for me to take. Most of these guys are brain dead Old Republican voters between the ages of 55 -65.

I will attempt to remove the veil from their eyes, introduce them to the Champion of The Constitution.

CNN has stopped allowing comments on their "poll" article....

CNN's line of thinking: If people disagree with us, we'll just shut down the comments section. If we say Rick Perry is the frontrunner, you have no need to debate it. We are the end all be all of American opinion. We pick the winners around here, get back to work, slaves!....

*so, maybe we should go to the other stories that they ARE allowing comments on and link to their "poll" story, while commenting on it on the other story's comment section. (I know that sounds complicated, just read it a few times until it makes sense..haha)

The GOP is running out of Choices here is why.

1.If Ron Paul gets the Nomination he will change their party back to the way it was supposed to be (lets hope he gets it)

2.right now the other party what ever the hell you call them today (so many names) right now they are using Ron Paul against the GOP by saying bad stuff about him or ignoring him but If Ron Paul does not get the Gop Nomination first GOP will Lose to Obama in the Election and the "other party" (see my definition of the that above) will be the first to say that they should have Put Ron Paul in the GOP and they are failing for not doing that. they will just criticize the Gop for fighting to much and that they are not able to make decisions.

so Ron Paul Winning is a win win for them.(Gop)
and Ron Paul not getting the Nomination is a lose lose. for them.(Gop)

It is simple really. How can

It is simple really. How can any other Republican win without the SOLID, UNWAVERING 10% Ron Paul vote?

I think the answer is clear. It is either Ron Paul or Obama will win.

I use their 10% number even though we know it is much higher - not including the independent and blue Republican votes

I don't think you get it....they don't care if Obama wins!

The problem is the NRP doesn't care if Obama wins....it will be the same if PERRY or ROMNEY win....they just don't want Ron Paul to win because their agenda will be shredded!!

Grab the address where this article is at, go on Google, search polls, news, then by date, and go stuff that link in the comments box.

Don't say anything about Paul, it being fixed by powers that be, or any of that, just let it be known that the poll is bunked and the numbers were fudged. ORC should be fired or something for this garbage.

All you have to do is not look like you have an axe to grind, but that you don't want fake poll numbers out there and that you understand that the numbers on that poll have actually been debunked.

I was very irritated seeing

I was very irritated seeing the latest CNN poll but not surprised. CNN is part of the Corporatism, aka Fascism, mix in control of our country. I would like to see Ron Paul show this poll along with a credible poll at the CNN debate on September 12th. He should ask the Moderator to explain the difference in polling data.

This article brings up some

This article brings up some good points to consider. Why is this not in top recent comments?

Let us correct the problem with evidence...

Hi everyone,

Let us do our own research and send it these corrupt news agencies. Let us correct there mistakes.

I'm surprised the poll fixing

I'm surprised the poll fixing didn't start sooner, frankly. This country is rotten to the cores...

Polls don't mean SQUAT!... Check out my latest post....

"sometimes I hug the coffee table when no one is looking."

Of cours we all know these polls...

tell whether or not a candidate will be allowed in the debate... do you see what the goal is here?

Somewhere there are men planning the next destructive and evil ploy to make this world their own... The common man is not part of that plan as we would see fit... Merely pawns to be used against one another.

Wow .....

Amazing observation. I didn't even think of it that way. If these junk polls start coming out with Ron Paul in low single digits, then the establishment can force him out of the debates. If that comes to pass, then it could get real ugly!

Glad you guys like the article.

Could you guys help me to get this out to a lot of blogs and news sites? If enough of us submit the article, some of them will surely pick it up and I think it can gain traction. Here are the sites I've submitted to:

Daily Caller: http://dailycaller.com/ (Click "Send Tips" at top right)

If any of you are YAL bloggers and could link out to it from there, that would be great as well.

This all is in concert

with the latest coordinated attack from the left, against Ron Paul.
It's clear that the left has kicked into attack mode, since Rasmussen showed RP capable of beating Obama.

Great Analysis

Yeah, fishy indeed. Thanks!

Yeah, thanks for taking the time for looking at this.

Age based polling

The unfortunate thing about Ron Paul's support is that every poll does show that he only has 4% support in the 65+ generation and if you poll 18-25 he's leading with around 29%.

All you have to do to get his numbers this low in a poll is to raise the lower age. It wouldn't suprise me if the 50-64 bracket is actually 60+.

We dominate the internet, but if we can't reach the older voters then it's going to be a very hard up-hill struggle.

We have to:
1) Get Dr. Paul on TV with favorable coverage.
2) Come up with a non-internet based way of reaching the older generation.

fossilized thinking gets more rigid before it breaks

Yes, many in the older generation may be so infested with dysfunctional viral thought programs that they can only parrot what they are told, but not all of us.

I am 60 years old. I voted for Ron Paul at the Libertarian National Convention in Seattle in 1987. I voted for him again in the Presidential Election in 1988. I will vote for him in 2012.

I have never seen so much hope for Freedom and Liberty as now. We are in the midst of a sea change. The old guard - many of them obliviously caught in fossilized thinking - is trying to hold onto a welfare/warfare state the collapse of which - like the Berlin Wall and the old Soviet Union - is accelerating. RON PAUL2012!

I agree

There are approximately 60,000,000 voters at retirement age of which I am one. Food and Energy are not part of the CPI. What are seniors most concerned about? Stretching their meager retirement to pay for food and energy. No increases in social security for 2 years and probably 3. Medical support declining. Seniors are being thrown under the bus!
Medical: my sister just got out of rehab but before she could go home she was told she had to go under more testing to prove she needed oxygen (plus other items) at home which had been approved for 2 years. Extra cost for staying longer and testing all because of the new Obamacare. The government does not believe the doctors.
I, personally, am at a crossroad; sell my home or rent it out and go live in a cheaper country til I can save enough to move back home.
I will say I found this sight and several local 60+ new friends in 2007 because of my belief in Ron Paul. He is my hero; I have met him and supported him at the "Rally".
Ron Paul talks a lot about the younger folks now he needs to reach out to the seniors. The candidate that shows concern and respect to the elderly will have a hugh advantage, most 60+ are very dedicated voters.
Love this site and visit everyday to catch up on the latest, thanks everyone.

Seniors thrown under a bus?

America's seniors had the privilege of growing up in an unprecedented era of economic growth and prosperity - enjoying some of the greatest job security, pensions and benefits ever seen. I don't see a future generation ahead of us ever having that great of a situation.

So social security hasn't increased for individuals the past couple years, and yes, costs have gone up. But at the same time, Medicare D was passed several years ago - almost doubling the amount of tax revenue used for medicare. I cannot see how seniors with the benefits of Medicare D are thrown under the bus.

Ron Paul can never, and should never, have the support of the AARP and other senior lobbyist groups. The way to win most seniors is with handouts and promises built upon the further theft of others income... or I guess you can scare the crap out of them with racism, jingoism and false flag attacks.

Do not see my comment as an attack on a 'collective' group of people, or on you personally - you're making good points. I'm speaking based on my knowledge of the thought process and conditioning of many seniors in the Detroit area and long term liabilities of social security/medicare-aid.

Some good points

Try to understand that because of life circustances many seniors are now living on less than $1000 a month; lost jobs, lost retirement funds and depended on promises made that they paid into for (my case) 50 years.

I agree re: AARP (and all lobbiest), canceled with them and I do not use Medicare D. Too many doctors just throw prescriptions at the problem instead of trying to find the cause.

I hope when you reach senior age you will have had the opportunity to save and keep your retirement and will be independent of fed health care.

Matt, feel free to add more of the text

If you own it, I believe you are free to add the whole thing - but you can at least add 3 paragraphs and be fine.

Yeah, CNN's new numbers are obviously bogus

Not hard to believe that CNN is utilizing some 'home cooking' to get their desired result when we recall their desperately pathetic attempt to skew the post-debate reactions. They searched the internet for a poll with only 50 votes which had Paul at 0% (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmqU_tpAjBM), ignoring all their polls with him dominating.

I wonder if the higher-ups who dictate the agenda (propaganda) at CNN got worried about honest polling on Ron Paul once they saw that he was rapidly growing, & decided to try to put the cat back into the bag.

Will be interesting to see what Gallup's next one will show. The encouraging thing is that the leader is Rick Perry--talk about a man living in a glass house. A couple rocks from Romney on his history & Perry is toast. Then ideally we'll get some counter attacks from Perry on Romney's record & Ron Paul will start looking better even to the semi-neocon zombie conservatives as the frontrunners self-destruct.

Attack ads aren't Ron Paul's

Attack ads aren't Ron Paul's style, and don't count on the neocon candidates to launch any hardballs his way either... it's up to us to inform the public about Perry.

Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it’s realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy. -Ron Paul 7/10/03

Don't count on Romney (or any

Don't count on Romney (or any of the others) to throw stones at Perry, who is the Bilderberg golden boy. ALL of them are creatures of the Shadow Power, bought-and-paid-for, and they will do as they are told.

They'll all attack RP, rather.
