This just might be one reason why......

Cops don't want to be recorded.

I don't hate cops, but I hate these stupid eavesdropping laws

I've seen bad police work plenty of times, but still, most are decent guys.

Further, the law should grant them special rights so they can do their important work in as safe environment as possible. And that means people can't get too close with their cameras.

HOWEVER, people should be able to video cops from a distance that is safe for the cops, the arrestees, and the spectators.

Obviously, the law wants to protect the cops when they get out of line. You'd think it would be the other way around. So, the law actually is clearing the path for bullying.

Another way of looking at this is that the law views cops as private property. Thus, even while out in public, they, being private property, cannot be recorded. I've been saying that cops and soldiers are military slaves...owned by the government.

Don't mess with government's property...even their slaves!

Government has Harassed Our People and Eaten Out Their Substance

We fought the 'Red Coats' 240 years ago and lo and behold our government has become more corrupt than the one we fought against..

The Founders fought and died for nothing. We had been given the framework for good government but alas, the laws are not enforced by the President of the United States.

The generation after the founders gave power back to the

powers that be.

The united states of American became THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA...essentially, it's been a big plantation.

And now a group of pirate elites have taken over the USA, taken over the political parties, media, academia, etc., and have been sucking us dry like so many other nations have been sucked dry.

We are slaves on a plantation whose slave owners are being muscled by a mafia.

Why should I give an eff about either the slave owners or the mafia?

Neither the owners nor the mafia really think of us as living beings. Look at Detroit, Philly, etc. Those cities were sucked dry and abandoned. 47% of people in Detroit can't read. That's freaking abandonment. How else can an uneducated people be but stupidly racist, stupidly religious, etc.?

So if your city, your schools, your neighborhood starts falling apart, run to a different place.

ESCAPE!

Become as self-sufficient as possible. Find a place where there's work, work hard for a few years, invest every penny.

Most of all, stay out of Oz. What's Oz? The enchanted crap that distracts you from reality and entraps you in some crappy way of life: TV, vending machines, debt, etc.

Oz will either make you a happy little person or an evil creature.

Get back to Kansas and work your little black and white butt off until there is some color there.

Another metaphor is from Matrix. The Matrix is a distraction from reality. But it is appealing comparied to the drab black and white Zion. Still, Zion is where you can actually control your destiny better.

Albeit, Zion could have been another layer of the Matrix. But you get the point.

Choose to ignore the comfortable trappings of the world. Keep working on your personal freedom. For that one day you know you don't owe anyone and you've saved up so you don't have to work for anyone, it's worth all the sacrifice...even if it is for one day.

Debating with a friend

Debating with a friend regarding this story and he pointed out that the Federal Court of Appeals has already ruled this sort of action legal...

I really don't think any jury

I really don't think any jury would ever convict this man.

I don't know the law in that state but generally wiretapping refers to taping a conversation where neither party knows he or she is being taped. And even if this state has a law that would make an individual guilty of a crime for taping his interaction with a police officer, it would be unconstitutional. And even if a court were to uphold this law as constitutional, what jury would convict?

Public pressure needs to be put on the prosecutor, questioning his motives. And pressure needs to be put on the legislature for passing such an obviously unconstitutional law. Citizens need to stand up on the hind legs and put the would-be tyrants in their place.

I agree

however, this isnt just about the "even ifs" you mention.
This is about this poor guy having to take the TIME and MONEY to defend himself against a criminal organization practicing terrorism against him.
he has to defend himself against something that our Constitution is supposed to protect him against!!
If the Constitution can't protect him then what can??

Nothing different that Stalin or Hitler's world or any other dictatorship.

We're free in America?? NOT!!!
