3 Reasons Why Filming Cops MUST Always Remain Legal

The purpose of this write is to address the VERY serious issue of "police-video whistle blowers" being arrested and possibly imprisoned for outrageous amounts of time for doing what is right.

Everyone knows the number one real reason why police don't want to be filmed, and that is, BECAUSE they themselves can be held liable for incriminating evidences that a camera may capture. That's it. End of story. Period.
With that said here are my 3 main Reasons Why Filming Cops MUST Always Remain Legal.

1) Cops are human and because of that they are fallible. Lord knows how many times entire police departments or at least elements within have become corrupted and dangerous.

2) Filming the police helps keep the police in check and honest. They use film on others, so it's only fair that others be allowed to film likewise in others defense.

3) Filming has always been, and always should be legal in any public place. To disallow in filming in selected areas opens Pandoras box to restrictions every where.

The rediculas explaination given to make video taping police illegal is termed as "wire tapping". As we all know video taping is NOT wire tapping. As far as I'm concerned, that is a newly devised definition INVENTED in order to safegard evil.

This is a very serious topic and for that reason I hope others will help expand on this issue. It's about time the good guys nip this in the bud before Big Brother makes it illegal every where.

Man faces "LIFE", for recording police! COMMON, that's NOT America, THAT's HELL!

PLEASE give some input. This is just a light summery and I know the case to keep video taping leagal can really be built up with your help.

But they sure do not like being filmed like any bureaucrat or someone serving the public. I suggest that filming should be done in groups when done unless in case of an emergency to acclimatize the police to this practice beforehand.

btw, I wonder how the KGB would of reacted if they were being filmed by Soviet citizens in Red Square or present day Chinese para-military police by Chinese citizens? lol

Filming Law enforcement

Filming Law enforcement is a good thing for both law enforcement and the citizen. If you film law enforcement you should not distract them or try to provoke them from their duties. Law enforcement should not have discourse with you filming them! If law enforcement is on the up and up it will welcome video.

hope for the best

Just a suggestion

We need to stop calling cops "Law Enforcement." They are supposed to be Peace Officers. In America, it's the citizens that enforce the law. That's why we have grand juris. Statute is not law. Law is law, that is why we have case law.
