First Post

This is a copy of an email I sent to Gov. Malloy today in regards to his recent comments on CNN. My first actual action taken in support of Dr. Paul and his 2012 campaign. Thanks for reading.

Governor Malloy,

I had the pleasure yesterday of listening to your comments that were aired on CNN in rebuttal to the comments of Texas congressman Ron Paul's, in regards to the embarrassing and federally managed boondoggle known as FEMA, and was inspired to contact you. What you have failed (or likely ignored) to see is that Mr. Paul was merely pointing out one example of overall government failure when it attempts to interfere and/or regulate the everyday lives of Americans. It also just happens to be one of the most glaring failures of the Federal government where local authorities should have jurisdiction, with the possible exception of the Department of Homeland Security. With any sincere and thorough research into the matter I would hope you and others would agree, instead of holding steadfast to your “government does it best” mentality.

While I hold the utmost respect of the right of all citizens of this country their right to speak and/or otherwise make their opinion known (backed by the 1st amendment of the US Constitution), those of you who hold local or national political offices are (or should be) expected to withhold from spewing the useless, personal, unsupported, and/or otherwise playground type of an insult that you expressed when a legitimate, although opposing, viewpoint is given by another.

What you should take into consideration before offering your unsubstantiated opinion is that I, as well as millions of other folks who favor smaller government (and many CNN viewers coincidentally), regard Congressman Paul in much higher regards than the big government and seemingly socialist leaning people such as you. Dr. Paul has offered factual accounts as to the failings of this agency, yet you chose to try to smear someone in superior position with your childish retort. Most of the truly interested public is starving for real news based on real facts instead of the uninformed and ignorant diatribe you and others offer up for the viewing public.

Dr. Paul’s opinion in this matter (FEMA), as well as his other views in regards to government run amuck, has essentially become mantra due to his unwavering stance, and well documented and unchanged opinions for the last several decades. He has proven himself time and again as to the factual nature of his views, predictions, and ideals. For you or anyone to pull the "he's just playing politics" card is truly showing his own idiocy, or at the very least a poorly formed opinion based on ignorance and the "party line" mindlessness. If you lack the skills for well informed and useful debate, you should at the very least step aside in favor of someone who does. Saying anyone is an idiot just doesn’t cut it these days and if you have no support to go along with your utterances, then perhaps you are better suited to minding the business that your state elected you for instead of federal matters and television appearances.

One can only assume that a political figure who tries to make his point in the manner in which you did wouldn't stand a chance in a true debate of the matter, and if that's the best you can offer when posed a legitimate question, you should feel ashamed and embarrassed. I'm sure you're not, but one can at least hope that politicians in this country have begun to see that the American public is beginning to demand more from all of you.

Upon hearing you say "he's an idiot" in regards to Dr. Paul’s FEMA position; I surely thought that with such a blunt response to the anchorpersons' query, I would at least hear some follow up statements that would support your opinion of the agency and Dr. Paul’s views. Sadly, that idiotic statement was all you had to offer. No facts, no supporting evidence, no pinpoint views in opposition to what Dr. Paul actually said; nothing but "he's an idiot". The little information you did follow up with was pathetic at best and mostly untrue personal opinion.

FEMA is a gargantuan waste of government resources and its minions and lackeys usurp undue power at any chance they are offered. It is a bureaucratic web that ensnares and encumbers what it was truly designed to do. The private citizens of this country were able to endure, recover, and rebuild from natural disasters well before FEMA, and will be able to do so after its demise. Your statement that Dr. Paul is an idiot changes none of those facts.

And so, one would think, with the limited exposure I've had in regards to the political affiliations, aspirations, loyalties, and/or other allegiances you may have, I should not be able to make an informed opinion in regards to you as a person or politician. But based on your statements on CNN, I most certainly have formed an opinion of you. Your "status quo - toe the party line" approach to running our government (further into the debt hole) would be laughable if it weren't so tragic. While I'll hold the exact nature and wording of my opinion of you to myself for now, I will admit it is much less than what you think of Dr. Paul. I will however be sharing it with my friends, family, and business associates who work or live in your fine state.

American's are waking up to the reality that the status quo minded politics and policies are destroying this great Republic and we've decided to become more active in order to change it. I’ve not considered myself an ardent Ron Paul supporter (until now I guess) that the mass media defines as "fringe". I am a blue collar worker who has seen his livelihood, savings, and personal freedom decimated by the status quo. I am a reformed democrat (thanks to Mr. Obama’s many broken promises) who is merely trying to see the truth through the lies that most politicians and media outlets seem to supply me with. And I am determined in letting any and all who will listen that the status quo isn’t good enough any more. America is ready for real change that only brave souls such as Ron Paul have a hope of leading us through.

I hope someday you’ll get a clue and truly try to see facts through normal citizens’ eyes and form your opinions after better research. Don't just look at your supporters; look at all of us as this goes well beyond the two-party political system that we have been saddled with. You need to understand that we are all waking up, we are mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it any more.

Thank you so much for lighting the fire in me and inspiring me to become more active and vocal in my opinions as a response to your appearance. I hope you can understand the true meaning of this letter as well; that a regular citizen such as me can share a differing viewpoint while offering truth in my statements, and I have not had to resort to playground comments in order to denigrate you in a personal manner.

Brilliant letter!

I especially liked the pleasant and agreeable way you drew him (or other reader) in to your letter. It starts off sounding like a compliment.

I once did something akin to this when calling Senator Feinstein's office to lodge my position against renewing the Patriot Act. Although fat lot of good that did on the vote, at least I got her phone answering employee to take my request a little more seriously by coming across as if I was a Feinstein supporter (never saying I was, but implication has power) who took privacy and liberty very seriously.

In summary, a great letter. Thank you for sharing it. I will try to emulate it the next time I have to write a letter to someone I actually disagree with.

What a Passionate Email!

Now that my friend is passion ON FIRE! A true Ron Paul supporter if I ever saw one! The Democrats loss, Liberty's gain! Thank you! Welcome to the Ron Paul R3VOLution!

We can make our millions of voices be heard. Here is my voice!!

Governor, really, is this the kind of language you are comfortable using to describe a former military man, 10+ terms of service in congress representing the people, and perhaps the most philosophically consistent person in politics(check his record)? You call him an idiot & at the same time you say you don't understand his view. Let me help you. I saw the report on CNN and they had a beachfront home owner who said "it was not a question of if, but when" disaster will strike there. Now, insurance companies are not in the business of losing money so they do not offer homeowners insurance that covers flooding for homes a few feet from the ocean-FEMA, however, does provide insurance. It's a distortion of insurance as it is almost certain disaster will strike. This is unconstitutional since it forces the many pay for the few who want to live on beachfront. Government is to provide for the 'general welfare' & FEMA is advocating the welfare for the few on the backs of many because remember, the government does not have money, it has to take it from the people. You sir, are a disgrace to the American philosophy of liberty (please research what that means) and I for one am ashamed of you. I input:

"We've conditioned our people that FEMA will take care of us and everything will be okay, but you try to make these programs work the best you can, but you can't just keep saying,
'Oh, they need money,' ... Well, we're out of money, this country is bankrupt."
Paul added that FEMA is a gross distortion of the U.S. insurance system because it rewards bad behavior.
"FEMA creates many of our problems because they sell the insurance because you can't buy it from a private company, which means there's a lot of danger, so we pay people to build on beaches, and then we have to go and rescue them," he said.
"It's so far removed from the market and the understanding of what insurance should be about. Insurance should measure risk, it shouldn't be a bailout program endlessly." -Ron Paul 2012

I am awake to the philosophical idea of liberty and school of Austrian economics and it is time we take a moment and understand the pillars of what once held up our country. You are sir, are not fooling anyone but yourself and "I yield back".

A believer of the philosophy of liberty,

Moises E. Garcia Rodriguez

Excellent letter.

The saddest part is the fact that a 19-year old intern in charge of form letters to e-mails will read the first two sentences before deleting it.
OR--and PLEASE tell us if this happens--you'll get a form e-mail about how great FEMA is because you said FEMA a few times (keyword generated form letters).
It really is great letter and it should be read.

Governor Gatekeeper of my state of Connecticut

THANK YOU, Michael!!! I have wanted to say what you said and so much more for years!

An idiot doesn't raise such a lovely family. I was so offended when Malloy said what he said. I wasn't disappointed because that is what I would expect from Malloy.

Does Ron Paul have any children that recently committed armed robbery like Malloy's son did? http://blogs.courant.com/capitol_watch/2009/03/dannel-malloy...

Did Ron Paul attempt to use and abuse eminent domain like Malloy did?http://blogs.courant.com/capitol_watch/2010/10/curleys-diner-in-stamford-mayo.html

Malloy said on CNN that he LIKES FEMA!! Why stop there? He also adores the DEPT OF HOMELAND SECURITY. MALLOY signed Stamford, CT into Homeland Security as Mayor of Stamford.

Malloy decriminalized marijuana only so that he could place huge fines for those who have it in their possession, and he also instituted a tax on YOGA and DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS.

How lucky can "Governor Gatekeeper" be to have the opportunity to continue the corruption with his equally corrupt old cohort from Stamford--now Attorney General George Jepsen.

I feel it in my gut that he's set to be one of the 10 super-Governors.

You sir are a shining example of the millions

of Americans whom I believe, with all my heart, are out there ... mad as hell and not willing to take it any more ... who are looking at Ron Paul and seeing a man who would be president to return their Republic to them if they will only get behind him and have confidence in their own power. We are legion...and we will have Ron Paul as our president. Spread the message!! God Bless you :)

Well said.

I am more proud of my fellow Americans Everyday.

Thanks for the post.

Welcome, but that democratic gov is angling for 2016

He wants to be the democrats choice in 2016 and so you can expect more attacks from him and others.

Moreover, when Ron Paul passes away, expect a WHOLE LOT of attacks on Ron Paul.

Right now, the late Milton Friedman is getting a WHOLE lot of attacks.

Thx for the post!

grat read

They should also send some follow up mail. I usually get something back but odds are it is simply cookie cutter.

I think more people need to start writing, calling their reps as well as SHOW UP and interview them when seen.

I think more regular folks need to carry camcorders or their smart phones and do some Q and A with their reps and post that on youtube.

Keep them IN THE CROSSHAIRS politically speaking and let them KNOW we are here and there are ALOT of us and we WILL get our republic back.

They can either HELP or get out of the way.

Audio/video recording of politicans

With the current laws, and modifications of it. You may be arrested for filming any political figure (except Ron Paul).
So,
Make a T-shirt with the following on it -

NOTICE
WHEN IN MY PRESENCE
YOU MAY BE SUBJECT TO
VIDEO/AUDIO RECORDING.

THIS IS FOR TRAINING PURPOSES.

(or something similar)

Then you can wear another shirt over it till you get into the meeting. And aren't all such recordings for training??? Make the lettering large enough that it can be read at a distance, then if they approach you or talk to you they have given their consent for you to record them!

Hey, if companies can do it on the telephone it should work in person too! (or else they too are breaking the law!)

Way to rip him a new one!

Good job. Welcome.
