Timely Rick Perry item

I'd bet the real reason for missing the SC debate wasnt JUST the wildfires, but maybe trying to help divert media attention away from this little gem.

" . . .Under Gov. Rick Perry (R) this year, Texas slashed state funding for the volunteer fire departments that protect most of the state from wildfires like the ones that have recently destroyed more than 700 homes.

Volunteer departments that were already facing financial strain were slated to have their funding cut from $30 million to $7 million, according to KVUE. . . "

" . . . At a press conference Monday, Perry promised to seek federal disaster relief and said that FEMA would be in the state by Wednesday.
While the Texas governor has been highly critical of FEMA in the past, he told CBS' Erica Hill Tuesday that now was not the time to worry about reforming the agency.

"The issue is taking care of these people right now," Perry insisted.

So, let's see. Perry tries and acts like hes "taking the high road" and doesnt want to debate fEMA right now, "lets just get the people some help" thats the most important thing. LOL.
NO PERRY!! The most important thing is you diverting the attention AWAY from your insane hypocrisy.
As in,
I'll CUT the Tx funding for fire depts. BUT
I'll gladly sign up to take the rest of the country's money because I CUT the fire depts.

Rick is too busy giving little girls HPV for the Bilderberger's population control.

Rino Rick puts his faith in federal pixie dust

Because FEMA has such a great record of keeping people safe and respecting individual rights. Rino Rick strikes again!

Thanks for posting

glad to see the link. We are south of Bastrop County. We read Gonzales Cannon about volunteer firemen being turned away when fire was at 0% containment and count then was 500 homes lost in Bastrop and two found dead. Local word on the street from ranch owners was their was one helicopter out in Bastrop dropping water and the rest of air assets were at Steiner Ranch (above Austin) and their lose of homes was at 25 homes last count and none dead. I could speculate why this happened but will wait. On another subject if anyone is interested KHOU TV - Houston did a video about the radioactive tap water in Texas, a 5 part series and if you want to know high up this mess went look at part 2 and if you live around Harris County - this is really sad you can see the obvious coverup. This can also be found linked to www.enenews.com Please pray or dance for Texas to get a rain

thanks Richard - just posted

the KHOU radioactive water thing to facebook forums.

"Rick Perry Proposed Bi-National Health Insurance with Mexico ... As media attention intensifies about Texas Governor Rick Perry's run for the presidential nomination, an activist in Tyler, Texas, was prompted to say "More checking under the hood needed before we buy the car," according to the Dallas Morning News (DMN). The article focused on Perry's comments at a Border Summit speech in south Texas (8-22-01), days before the 9-11 attacks, about bi-national health insurance – Texas-funded coverage for both U.S. and Mexican border residents. The governor's statement favored a study, required by the Legislature, about "the feasibility of bi-national health insurance." The DMN continued, "Katherine Cesinger, spokeswoman for Perry's campaign, downplayed the topic of bi-national health insurance. 'A bill was passed by the Legislature that authorized a study to look into this issue, which ultimately concluded there were numerous barriers to accomplishing that idea, and the Legislature took no further action on this concept,' she said." However, in spite of the Legislature's failure to act, Perry made clear his willingness to funnel Texas's assets to Mexico. – New American

Dominant Social Theme: Rick Perry, an independent man with independent positions.

Free-Market Analysis: The exposing of the real Rick Perry has started in earnest now. We're surprised it took so long. It is a matter of public record that Perry connived with other US power brokers to try implement the North American trans-continental highway during the presidency of George Bush.

Bush himself was a committed globalist who, toward the end of his term in office, tried to pass an immigration bill aimed at creating what might be considered a "guest worker" program between the US and Mexico. This was only a prelude to an apparent goal of the power elite, which is a merger between Mexico, America and Canada. This is supposed to mimic the European union – it is through such building blocks that a new world order is to be constructed.

Perry is part and parcel of the globalist elite and during his terms in office in Texas he worked to implement the globalist agenda in many ways. Now that he has a higher profile and is being considered as a serious presidential candidate, Perry has been scrambling to hide his obvious elite relationships and activities. But even his newfound affection for the Tea Party and libertarianism generally cannot hide what came before."

State funding for Volunteer Fire Depts.

I never heard of such a thing, I knew the cities helped-out and the township, and county along with the citizens; but I've never heard of the state funding them. I got a volunteer fire dept. in my town and they do several things to make money; remember most of these people are not being paid, hence the term volunteer. So what costs so much that they need funding from every branch of government up to the State and directly from the citizens as well?

I understand Philosopher

however, unless KVUE is bold face lying, what?

My experience w/ volunteer fire companies was in PA, so maybe Tx helps fund them. Those big red trucks can be in the 6 figure range you know and while the guys are volunteers, you think they fight fires nude or pay for their own equipment also?

Where are/were you in PA;

Where are/were you in PA; west side or east? We had all kinds of fundraisers to build the new firehouse and to buy equipment here on the east. We also have different things going on nearly once a month, plus the normal donation papers that come in the mail. I know three banks that donated 5-6 figures when we did a complete overhaul of the Fire Dept. Maybe that's just my town, township, and county; I have no idea. However, I do know that those who became fire police did have to buy everything themselves. The town with a dive unit had those divers buy their own equipment, the volunteer EMT's buy their own stuff as well. Maybe it's just my area?

I grew up in Pa

went away, came back, then went away.

Of course they have to fund raise.
I was saying that I didnt think volunteer fire companies in PA get money from the state government.

I grew up in Pennsylvania. i.e. Western PA.

I lived north of Gettysburg for 10 years also. I dont consider area east of Lancaster as PA. Its really just the Western annex of New York City, or the western annex of Joizy, and that far east AINT like Pennsylvania.
But, thats a fight for another day huh?

It's too bad Perry's campaign

It's too bad Perry's campaign manager, Fox News, won't report this bit of information.
