An Open Letter to Senator Demint

Senator DeMint, I want to thank you for the forum you and the distinguished panel organized for last night’s presentation. I truly think that this format should be used more often than the regular debate process. You gave me more insight into the candidates and when I could discern, their differences.

Once again, I truly thank you for this effort.

I am just a regular guy in this small world, but you have given me a chance to discern what I believe is right. Most of the candidates spouted their talking points and with close attention, I could only see them all repeating Congressman Paul’s views. What is the problem? Do they not have their own thoughts? I know this is a race but, is it a race to win, or is it a race to save our country?

I think you have your own beliefs, and I also think you have pressures to deliver(?). As a citizen of this country, that served in the Marine Corps, owns a business, (providing 7 jobs), that believes in the Constitution which I swore to uphold(and still do), that wants the Government to GTFO of my life. Whom should I vote for? Hermain Cain, Rommney, Perry. No, I don't think I can stomach going against what I have learned of principle in the last five years.

I am a Ron Paul supporter and will not give my vote up for anything but truth. Do these candidates represent truth? With no disrespect, but I must ask if you represent truth?

With the polls showing Ron Paul with 10-25% come election time will insure Obama being re-elected if TRUTH does not prevail. The thing to remember is, I, at 52 years/just an old biker/Marine/ Business Owner ( not one of those young college students that don’t show up so the media says)( watch out this year, Not a prayer!, LOL!) will vote for Ron Paul (write-in, Constitution Party, Libertarian Party, etc…) before voting for a status quo nominee. Voting on PRINCIPLE, principle, is what Ron Paul has taught Me and every other supporter. The Republican Party is screwed. They just don’t know it yet. I don't want that but it is what it is.

Ron Paul has republicans, democrats, independents, tea party, liberals, strict constructionist, all on his side. The Neo-cons(both conservative and liberal) are doomed, but they don’t care, for they also want Obama or a Republican look-alike. Just as I have stood up for this country (1976-1982), now is your time to stand up. I would be most pleased to visit with you. Maybe come to my home and I’ll fix a good gumbo. Give a time and place and maybe I can bring a couple of thousand bikers with me. I'll still fix the gumbo.LOL! A good Cajun can't go anywhere without cooking. Did it in Denver, Charlotte, Ontario, Seattle, and even Mamoo (Nothing like visiting Mamoo during Mardi Gras).

I and many others just want our country back. We just need you to stand up and be counted. Are you with us or for the status quo?

Just asking,

Jim

Thank you very much Qwerk and Philosopher

I was down a few glasses of wine and my fingers were slurring LoL. Can't believe I misspelled Mamou. Your help is most appreciated. Susan is doing pretty well and I thank you for asking. The letter will go out to the good Senator today.

Here is a quick proofread, Jim.

First of all prayers and get well wishes for Susan.

Secondly,I did not want to change much of your fine letter to Senator DeMint, so here goes...

Senator DeMint,

I want to thank you for the forum you and the distinguished panel organized for Monday's presentation. I truly think that this format should be used more often than the regular debate process. You gave me more insight into the candidates, so I could discern their differences.

Once again, I truly thank you for this effort.

I am just a regular guy in this small world, but you have given me a chance to figure out what I believe is right. Most of the candidates spouted their talking points and with close attention, I could only see them all repeating Congressman Paul’s views. What is the problem? Do they not have their own thoughts? I know this is a race but, is it a race to win, or is it a race to save our country?

Hermain Cain, Romney, Perry? No, I cannot stomach going against what I have learned about principle in the last five years.

I am a Ron Paul supporter and will not give my vote up for anything. Do these candidates represent truth? With no disrespect intended, I must ask if you represent truth?

If the polls show Ron Paul with 10-25% come election time, that fact will insure Obama being re-elected. TRUTH must prevail! The thing to remember is, I, at 52 years, am just an old biker/Marine/ Business Owner and not one of those young college students who don’t show up, as the media says.

Watch out this year! I will vote for Ron Paul (as a write-in, Constitution Party, Libertarian Party, etc. if need be) before voting for a status quo nominee. Voting on PRINCIPLE is what Ron Paul has taught me and every other supporter. The Republican Party is screwed. They just don’t know it yet.

With sincere thanks and in liberty,

Here's my modification to Qwerk's modification

I thought the letter was pretty good the way it was and I didn't want to change too much of the original intent. So, I modified what necessarily needed to be be fixed. Maybe some else could further refine it before you email it? Hope you both approve.

The Neo(s), both conservative and liberal, are doomed; but they don’t care, however. For, they only want Obama or a Republican look-alike. Just as I have stood up for this country (1976-1982), now is your time to stand up, Senator DeMint, Sir.

I would be most pleased to visit with you. Maybe you could come to my home, and I’ll fix a good gumbo. Give a time and place, and maybe I can bring a couple of thousand bikers with me! My fellow Americans and I just want our country back Sir. We just need you to stand up and be counted among us... Are you with us Sir, or for the status quo?

With sincere thanks and in liberty,

1 think

there is something grammatically awkward (and incorrect) about "I and many others just want our country back" (subject placement). You may wish to replace it with "My fellow Americans and I just want our country back."
It is a nice friendly letter; good work!

Yes,

subject placement is better now! Good catch!

I will only bump once and then let it die.

I really could use your help folks. I want this letter to come across very well. By tomorrow morning I will send it any way. Yes I will work on it some more but I cannot expect perfection without my wife.

I would take out the part that abbreviates the swear words, for sure. I would not make it so Ron Paul oriented either. I would basically say, thank you for giving us a chance to see all the candidates and the stances they have on the issues. Your format gave the candidates a chance to explain their views in a way in which I can make a more educated decision on who to vote for. You seem to be a representative who is interested in representing your constituents the way our founding fathers have intended. The goal of your letter should be more to express a new way to open a dialogue for our candidates than the one we are already presented with. Don't forget Jim, we don't need De Mint to vote for Ron Paul, we would like him to of course. Thank him for his efforts for a better format and keep it short and simple. Don't mention Ron Paul once, that is how we win. Keep up the great work!!! Hope that helps.

I like it just the way it is

I especially like your offer to serve him gumbo. :)

Thanks for taking the time with Senator DeMint...I think all our letters have had a positive effect on him over the last few years.

Looks Good!

I like the proof read but with your just askin' at the end. That's my vote.

Ok, I like it too!

Take whatever portions you like, Jim. It's your letter. The English major in me likes to proofread stuff.
