Ron Paul Booed for Suggesting 9/11 was Caused by American Foreign Policy

Read the full text of Osama bin Laden's 'letter to America'
For our sound-bite world, bin Laden says: "Why are we fighting and opposing you? Because you attacked us and continue to attack us."
He continues: "If the Americans do not respond, then their fate will be that of the Soviets who fled from Afghanistan to deal with their military defeat, political breakup, ideological downfall, and economic bankruptcy."
Sounds like we're playing right into his plan. It is unfortunate that the tea party can't see that.

Foreign Policy of Freedom
Ron Paul's Non-interventionism is *NOT* isolationism. This article is about why friendship and detente is the best policy (morally and pragmatically) in foreign affairs, esp. with Iran.

Let's honor our troops by ending America's military-industrial complex, and bring the brave men and women home. Happy Veterans' Day!
What is this
thread spamming?
Focus on facts
I think Ron should just focus on facts. If the war chickens are deluded, he can just try to be honest and probably they will learn in time.
1)Give examples of experts (military, CIA, like Scheurer etc) which have said why the terrorists attack us.
2)Ask Santorum why USA was not attacked before US started meddling in the affairs of middle east ? USA has been free and prosperous for more than 200 yrs!Again focus on the increased number of terrorist attacks because we are there.
3) Difference between non-interventionalism (as proposed by Founding Fathers) vs Isolationism (which is practiced now - by first putting sanctions, hurting the general population, and then going to war)
4)Reverse the problem, by giving some example of how people here will feel if a foreign country made bases here and killed hundreds of thousands of Americans ?
5)Take it to an emotional level by saying he should be sympathetic to those who have lost their family members for these endless and goal-less wars. Mention suicide rates among soldiers. Is that what they deserve from their Govt.? Troops understand his message and give him the most donations.Isnt it time we understand their situation?
6)Quote any surveys where people say they are against wars (Last I heard it was 70%+)
7) How many of his kids will Santorum send for these wars ? Or will he go himself ? How can he push on sending others' kids to fight for his deluded reasoning ?
8) Who pays for the wars ? Who pays for the military bases ? How this spending causes inflation and how it benefits the military industrial complex.
9) I heard somewhere Ron was in favor of sending special forces or mercenaries after Osama - which was a cheaper and specific action for a goal. But the hawks wanted war only.(donno if this is true)
Show that he is patriotic but still wants peace, and he wants specific action against specific people, and not unfocused wars. Declare war in Congress and not by executive order.
Stick to the facts and give it a hint of emotion, should hopefully work.

I thought Ron's explanation was very clear and we need to keep
repeating it every chance we get. We need pass on the OBL letter. We have to continue to educate the sheep. Also, aside from ideology, how does the tea party expect to pay for the wars? They want lower taxes and less inflation.

What I see!
If you listen he gets a few boo's when he brings up they don't attack us cause we are free. Keep in mind these people just watched and heard a 3 day marathon of people dieing in buildings jumping out of buildings and listening to people and their loved ones last words as they prepare to die. I actually understand how this can effect someone after watching such stuff for 3 days straight. It's kind of like PTSD that the soldiers come home with. It's a real thing. The thing that should amaze everyone is the boo's get even loader after that. When he says the word "Palestinian". The boo's actually come after he says the word but it starts to build from that point and builds almost to the next point but it was the word Palestinian that evoked the boo's. Can anyone think of a group that would feel this way about this word?
Watch what the guy says at 2.37.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js6LIDceSQ4&feature=related
Trust me this group was at the debate and they where created for a purpose. They took one of the revolutions events and built a movement around that event. They will steal every talking point they can from the revolution accept 3. The first they will allow a little talking about as long as its around the edges "the Fed Reserve" the second they will talk about it a little but will never actually be serious abut doing anything about it "the Income Tax" and the third platform they will never yield on the subject "war and the ownership of Jerusalem". This group was created to draw people in to the Republican party that would never vote for a Bush or a McCain. This group was created to be the mask on the neo-cons. The core group is made up of neo-cons and the new converts will be used to outnumber the Revolution at the conventions. Once this group of new converts get them elected non of the people who get elected will even care what these people say. It will be a top down controlled group and anyone who speaks out will be made an outcast. The very people who are sick of the big spending and out of control government of George bush will be tricked into actually voting for the same people they proclaim to hate. They will be all wrapped in a flag and carrying a bible. Now you got to admit its pretty genius "evil" but genius. What did you think Glenn Beck was doing at Fox? he was building a 912 movement that looks like the revolution but is not the real deal. Its a magic trick. Many will fall for it.
Of course Ron Paul isn't going to memorize this..
or anything else we write on DP.
What do YOU say when people ask you about RP's foreign policy? We could all use a little refinement in our responses to these gotcha questions.
Can you put together a better 30 second response to any of these questions?
Go ahead it would be good practice for you. Or are you only interested in being a sarcastic jerk?

Hmmm...
Telling that all the "front-runners" are calling for troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, and getting applause for it. Why isn't this attitude change making headlines?
Of course, only Ron really means it, has been saying it for years, and would bring the troops home from everywhere else as well.
I must say this... The girl
I must say this...
The girl who butchered the United States anthem was just a preview of things to come in this debate.
CNN did their best to portray the Tea Party as a bunch of fu**ing whackos. Things looked quite scripted from the getgo.
Just by watching the audience, I felt like many of those people were not genuine...their body language suggested to me that they were hired PLANTS.
Of course, CNN would never do so such a thing.....or did they?
What was with the WWF-style
What was with the WWF-style candidate introduction video at the beginning? It was absurd.
Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...
Actually, I was surprised
Actually, I was surprised that he was being unanimously cheered on all his foreign policy statements up until that point. after all the cheers, the boos shocked me all of a sudden. That goes to show you how fast your expectations can shift....
It's really funny actually, Ron's prior foreign policy comments came in response to economic questions. He talked about how the foreign policy is costing over $1T per year and that it's bankrupting the country, and the people seemed to understand that. He talked about following a constitutional, humble foreign policy and not being the policeman of the world, and people cheered.
These people booing seem to be suffering from cognitive dissonance.
Ultimately, I think Ron made a few mistakes in explaining the position...Instead of saying "we" bombed Iraq for 10 years, he would have made it hard for the audience to boo if he had stated that CLINTON bombed and starved the Iraqis.
I think instead of trying to say, 'what if China came over here?" he would do better to spend that time explaining that the borders are arbitrary in the middle east because of WWII--that the people there were forced into new countries where they didn't want to be, with people they didn't want to be with, and that prior administrations propped up dictators. Then the Clinton business about killing and starving Iraqis in the holy land.
I think Ron Paul would do well to have a snappy comeback to the audience or Santorum like, "Is it really so hard for you to believe that Clinton's foreign policy wasn't so perfect?" Yeah, that is a major oversimplification, and generally it is the type of silly blame game politics that Republicans usually look stupid for, but a) it's not untrue and b) it would disarm Republicans. Scumbags like Santorum want to demagogue and pretend that Ron Paul is blaming the common American man and woman. Ron Paul should use this line to make clear he is pointing blame strictly on previous administrations, not the people, and put the scumbags on the spot to have to explain why they are such huge Clinton supporters

Clinton CAUSED 9/11
CNN --- Are you saying Ron Paul that we caused 9/11?
Ron Paul -- [No I am saying Bill Clinton caused 9/11. With his ten years of no fly zones, occupations, military bases, invasions of Bosnia, starving little children in Iraq! The first time they tried to take out the Twin Towers was with Bill Clinton in office. As soon as GW Bush came into office suddenly he had to deal with all that blow back. Bill Clinton caused 9/11. ] -- now that reply would get those republicans!

Ya..only guess what? It was
Ya..only guess what? It was not JUST Bill Clinton...so that would be untruthful at best.
terrorists caused 9/11
ultimately, they are responsible for their own actions. we are just trying to explain to people what motivated them to do it. and furthermore, that the policies of the US government that comprised that motivation were big-government, corporatist, militaristic policies that regular tea party republicans should abhor.
I think it's totally legit to point out Clinton because a) it's true, and b) it's good politics. But in line with (a), it shouldn't be that Clinton was specifically at fault, just that he was the one carrying on a failed policy for 8 years directly prior to the attack.

P.S. Reading List for Santorum!
Ron Paul needs to take out the old Reading List for Rudy and put a nice red "X" over the "Rudy" and pencil in "Rick" over top.
1> "Rick Santorum has apparently never read the 9/11 report or the advice from the head of the CIA team leading the bin Laden team"
2> "I am supporting a humble foreign policy where we don't try to police the world and bankrupt our country in the process the way that previous administrations did. I guess Rick Santorum just won't accept any criticism of CLinton's foreign policy. I thought the Republican Party opposed Clinton throughout the 90s, but apparently we're supposed revere him all of a sudden"

By far, Ron Paul just made
By far, Ron Paul just made the most poignant statement of the entire 2012 presidential campaign.
"We're kidding ourselves, we have to be HONEST with ourselves. What would we do if another country, say China did to us what we do to all those countries over there?"
Santorum gave a canned response, and Ron Paul hit it out of the stratosphere.
Ron got booed AND applauded at the same time.
"We have been bombing and killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis for ten years. Would you be annoyed!? If you're not annoyed then there's some problem!"
It hits home, hard...because many Americans know deep down he's right.
Ron planted a very serious thought - what would we do as Americans if China started bombing the ever living crap out of us?
We would retaliate.
Checkmate.

his point on the middle east has been made
Its ok that people booed Ron Pauls response. People can disagree with him on this point even if they are wrong. The point is Ron Paul is telling the truth and that is what will set us free from the situation we are facing now.
In point of fact I was surprised that there werent more boos when he talked about foreign policy since this party is apparently so supportive of the wars being faught in the middle east.
Ron Paul is clearly winning this debate, if in the worse case scenario he will need to become a 3rd party candidate to win the presidency. Ron Paul will become president, there are too many people from both parties who agree with the most important topics he presents.
Dont be discouraged by these trivial matters, just be happy Ron Paul is out there on center stage telling the truth!
what will you do if you dont have your freedom
So many times, it seems like
So many times, it seems like candidates use their faith to prove a political point. Even though I think it's wrong to use your religion to gain political favor, I feel like Ron Paul should bring it down to a level that people can understand. Even Jesus said "for all who take the sword will perish by the sword." Isn't he just referring to blowback here?

Trust in God, but tie your camel tight.
"Socialism needs two legs on which to stand; a right and a left. While appearing to be in complete opposition to one another, they both march in the same direction." - Paul Proctor
Ron needs to say something like this
We can agree that we have been bombing Iraq and sticking our noses in the Mid East for over 10yrs now, going after the, "bad people"... Every country, state and city has bad people in it, "we have a few in Washington D.C." In getting the bad people we have been bombing the cities and in turn killing innocent people... " Why don't we bomb D.C....?, they have bad people don't they...?! We don't because it would kill innocent people...! So does it make it ok to bomb cities because they are of a different race or country...? So to say that they had no right to fight back is like saying that we had no right to to fight back after 911 and is like saying that if China did to us what we do to other countries, that we should just lay down and take it...!? We should go in and snipe the bad guys and get out...! Black ops...!

Possibly the people that
Possibly the people that booed were 911 truthers?
That audience
Would have clapped if Rick Perry would have said.... "I like Turtles!"
♫♫ You say you want a R[ƎVO˩]UTION ♫ Well you know ♫♫
Interesting, Huntsman and Romney were also booed...
but Ron Paul is the only one who gets a headline in the LA TIMES.
I'm not Ron Paul, but I would have responded to Santorum in this manner. "EVERY government agency failed at some point to do its job on 911. George W. Bush didn't fire, demote or even discipline anybody. Yet YOU, Senator Santorum, marched lockstep with George W. Bush into Iraq at the cost of thousands more American lies. YOU, Senator Santorum, backed the Bush Doctrine of 'pre-emptive' wars, which President Eisenhower compared to Adolph Hitler'; and, YOU, Senator Santorum back torture and indefinite confinement. Yet, YOU, Senator Santorum have the gall to criticize my conclusions, conclusions back by the head of the Osama Bin Ladin unit of the Central Intelligence Agency, Michael Scheuer?"
That should shut "Senator Stupid" up permanently.
