Another 2% national poll for Santorum; RP comes in 3rd with 11%

RP gets 3rd with 11% in the latest national PPP Poll.

Rick Perry 31%
Mitt Romney 18%
Ron Paul 11%
Newt Gingrich 10%

Michele Bachmann 9%
Herman Cain 8%
Jon Huntsman 2%
Rick Santorum 2%

And of course PPP's favorite tactic is inculded in this poll -- ya know the one I am talking about: Where they ask of every candidate under the sun except of RP on do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of this candidate?

Santorum compared to Huntsman

Santorum and Huntsman seem to come in neck-and-neck at 2% bit there is a HUGE difference. While most people seem not to like Huntsman or are indifferent toward him (to quote a media writer) "A large segment of the population outright despises Santorum".

I mean Santorum doesn't just have a problem with little recognition or support - he has a problem with people HATING him.

What else could explain his 2007 Pennsylvania US Senate defeat by either the largest of second largest percentage of any loss by an incumbent in history? The people didn't just lose interest in him, they couldn't stand him.

And yet the few polls that actually include Gary Johnson seem to have him doing as well as Santorum and Huntsman. So why isn't Gary Johnson up there - and why are Huntsman and Santorum?

Michelle Bachmann is done.

Michelle Bachmann is done. Toast. She will have to take back her Gardsil comment that she knows a girl who was hurt by it. Goodbye.

Many girls were hurt by it,

Many girls were hurt by it, and continue to be. This is a dangerous vaccination. I appreciate her bringing attention to it, however, I do believes she needs to bow out, along with about 6 others...:)

If you walk blindly through life, you will run into a lot of walls.

"POLL FINDS LITTLE SUPPORT FOR RON PAUL"

Thats how they spin the headline here.

http://www.thestatecolumn.com/virginia/poll-finds-little-sup...

If you read the story you find that Ron Paul was in third place out of eight candidates actually running. But does the headline say "Ron Paul in solid third place." No.

Does it say "Ron Paul Solidly Beating Five Others" No.

It says "Poll Finds Little Support For Ron Paul".

PPP real story is changes since August, not reported above

PPP poll results:

Ron Paul 11% (+83% since august)
Herman Cain 8% (+33% since August)

Rick Perry 31% (-16% since august)
Michele Bachmann 9% (-78% since august)

Those are interesting

Those are interesting numbers. Especially Bachmann's numbers. Can't wait for her to finally find the exit sign.

My God's not dead; he's surely alive. And he's living on the inside roaring like a lion.

@normal texas where do you think B's votes will go?

It seems like Cain/Paul? The plastic votes are already with R/perry.

I would suspect that a lot of

I would suspect that a lot of them would go to Paul. Cain is (I hate to say this) an interesting dynamic. I do see some of Bachmann's voters going to his camp. And I wouldn't discount Perry (though Romney is out of the question for Bachmann supporters) because Perry will talk the talk, but he doesn't walk the walk. So for those Bachmann supporters who can easily be swayed by rhetoric and not action, they will find their way to Perry...that is, unless Perry implodes as well (which is starting to happen).

But in my opinion, I see the bulk of the supporters going to Paul, with Cain as the secondary.

My God's not dead; he's surely alive. And he's living on the inside roaring like a lion.

I hope Ron can get these

I hope Ron can get these votes!

AND....

Im wondering how many people who only use cell phones got polled? TBH, i dont know a SINGLE person that has a landline except my parents/grandparents....ALL of my friends, and my friends friends only have cell phones. Its safe to say probably the bulk of RP's support comes from college-aged people. I think thats a big hamper on his poll numbers, if they only poll fox news watching baby boomers with landlines-

the good news from these numbers

the people on the bottom 4 have no room to graw at all.. So bachman and cain will drop soon.

From the top 4. Romney is still at around 20%.. Now that the margin is increasing, he will attack Perry and expose him., perry will fight back and both their supports will drop. Newt can come from behind and gain substantial support. He has been doing well in debates.
Perry's numbers will go down from here. He will get attacked from all sides and I don't think he can sustain this lead.
Dr. Paul. will gain at least 5-7% more and be a closer 3rd or maybe second. In the early primaries, Dr. paul will get between 25-30% of the vote. I hope that will be enough for few wins.

I wrote about the national polls in my

I wrote about the national polls in my first post on DP
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/178684

I truely think that RPs real numbers are 20-25% which makes him tied or within 2-5 points from 1st place

free voice, I've always

free voice, I've always realized that Ron's numbers have been twice as much as the numbers from the MSM polls. I remember the case from the NV caucus, where polls had him at 6%. He got over 13% of the vote and 2nd place.

So, I predict the following:

- Ron's numbers are about 22% nationwide
- In Iowa, I think he has 28%
- In New Hampshire, I think he has 28% as well

This was paid for (secretly i am sure) by Newt

Watch him now site it a million times over.

Santorum

So why is this guy in the debates, isn't the cut off 3%?

Although he does help Paul get more air time...so i guess it isn't a bad thing.

They got to have one neo-con

They got to have one neo-con there who makes Perry and Romney not look so crazy compared to Santorum.

Massive jump for Ron Paul

Here is the previous similar poll from PPP:

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2011/PPP_Release_US_0...

Ron Paul has jumped from 6% to 11% from Aug 18th to Sept 8th. Ron Paul has gained in all age groups with the most in the 18-29 group with now 23% compared to 4% in the last poll.

No, you're confusing the polls!!

If you say his numbers have remained the same, and that his latest poll was 13% so this poll isn't encouraging, you've made the mistake of conflating the polls!

Different polls have different returns. They are usually equivalent in terms of order - but their numbers change from poll to poll.

This was a PPP poll. The last PPP poll had Paul at 6%. This one has him at 11%, so that's a 5 point jump!

We should be looking for the next politico or NBC poll - they last had poll at 10% and 9%, respectively. If those jump then that will be another indicator if we're seeing a steady increase.

Until then this last poll is really good news!

Now we have so much more work to do!

Are they both national? If

Are they both national? If they are both national polls they should be getting around the same results. so if PPP polled at 6% a month ago and another poll was 13% a week ago and this one is currently at 11% - that is a 2% loss. You don't do it by who did the poll, you do it by chronological order regardless of the poll so long as the field which was polled is the same.

Your method of breaking-up the polls as separate realities is nonsense. Perry is up 3% form last week, Paul is down 2% from last week, Newt is up like 6%..

That is how it works.

His national polling numbers

His national polling numbers haven't changed at all. He was at 13% last week and have always been between 10-14%.

Perry should be tanking at this point but according to these polls he has 31%...

Poll #s

You know, Ron Paul's numbers seem to be consistently improving. He's only 6-7% from Romney in the latest polls. I can't wait for the day that Chris Wallace proclaims, "Well, it looks like we have a new top tier in this race. And it consists of: Rick Perry, Perry, and Rick Perry." And then Ron Paul comes up from behind and beats the snot out of Perry and the rest of the field in the primaries and caucuses since these polls exclude Ron's biggest demographic: the younger generation!

Ah, what a novel strategy!

Improving poll numbers. What a concept. So, I guess the Santorum strategy of attacking RP is working for him. LOL! I can't wait for next month, then we get to see how badly Santorum and the other losers are hurting for donations! Hahahahahah!

My God's not dead; he's surely alive. And he's living on the inside roaring like a lion.

needs to be neck and neck

Paul needs to get neck and neck with Romney, its only 7 points, then the MSM will have to pay attention.

This can be done by local campaigning by volunteers, IE YOU!!!!

Still a far third, but still

Still a far third, but still up there. We need to work harder and harder.
