Nationwide op-ed support bomb for Ron Paul

I'm sure this has probably been mentioned before, but in the case that it hasn't I had an idea... That idea being an 'op-ed support bomb' for Ron Paul for President in 2012.

If a lot of us started writing letters to the editor to many of our local newspapers across the country and were able to catch people's attention with why Ron Paul is the best choice for president, I believe it would have a great effect(if nothing else, to help his name I.D.)

It doesn't matter how small your local newspaper might be, it only matters that those in your community have the opportunity to learn about Ron Paul on that local scale.

Think about the exposure Ron Paul would have if all his supporters across the country took the time to send letters to the editor once or twice a month. It would be in a ton of newspapers all over the country up until election time.

So that is my proposal. Please let me know what you all think. I'll be sending some letters out tomorrow to be put in the Sunday papers in my corner of Western Illinois/Southeastern Iowa.

GOOD LUCK!

I sent allot of letters to the editors, and our regional paper, refused to publish any letters. I got really upset at one point and I called them to complain about it. Well, I got an earful, "We can publish whatever letters we want and you can be sure we are not going to print any of yours because this is HILLARY COUNTRY!" "click". It was, in that I thought of what that employee told me, the only good thing about Obama winning.

I have NEVER seen a letter to the editor published in any three local papers, and it's a shame, being this is medical marijuana territory. I am planning to write after the next central committee meeting, where the chair and treasurer have egg on their face and I am going to make them eat crow this wednesday, I will be very nice about it.

Date for op-ed support bomb

We should shoot for a date that is around the time of a televised debate. Perhaps there would be more people picking up a newspaper around that time to read about candidates/politics and they would all come across many supporters for Ron Paul as we make our case for why he's the only choice this election. ?

around every debate?

I was looking at the schedule for debates coming up. Maybe we could do op-ed bombs around every debate? We could have our letters pre-written and ready to go and then flood local newspapers. That'd be sweet!

Yes this is a great idea. I

Yes this is a great idea. I think we did something like it in 2007/2008.

It helps reach those that are normally only tuned into O'Reilly, or Fox, or CNN. It is the only way really to reach a lot of people that are stuck to old media without knocking on doors.

Let's do it. We need a website, and pledges, and a date. We need incentive, we need tracking of our success.

what would be a good day to

what would be a good day to do this? Any special dates we want to highlight?

great idea

my 2 cents

Love this. Why not in concert with all the debates, money bombs and remaining large straw polls(P5, NH)? I am compiling this list for our efforts in Florida to coordinate our larger efforts with these to multiply the media attention.

Sounds super!

Within the next 2-3 days I will be posting a multipage document with cited facts about Ron Paul that can be used to aid in this.

Please Set a Date That Gives Us Time to Write!

Like many others on the DP, I'm a busy guy. I'll do this, but please give a date at least a week out so I can find out how to contact my local paper to submit and have time to actually write something. Great idea!

Good idea

as long as they are well written, concise and factual.

Rough draft example of a letter to the editor

Definitely agree. Here's an example of one I started to write. If everybody could fit Ron Paul into the title of their op-ed at some point, it would give him a lot of name i.d.

But anyway, here's the one I started. I'll probably write one or two a month and send them to various newspapers in nearby locales giving my different reasons for supporting Paul.

Mind you, this is a rough draft.

Why I Support Ron Paul for President

I have many reasons for supporting Ron Paul for President in 2012. Here is one of them.

One of my favorite reasons for supporting Ron Paul in the 2012 presidential election is because of the support he receives from active duty military personnel. As reported by Ron Paul’s campaign and many credible publications, Ron Paul has raised more funds from active military personnel than all republican candidates vying for the Republican nomination combined. Paul's campaign raised $34,480 from people in the military, compared with $19,849 for Obama and $13,848 for the other GOP presidential candidates combined.

This is one of many reasons why I’m voting for Congressman Ron Paul in 2012. I hope you’ll research him and find that his unwavering fight for liberty has been going on for more than 30 years. He has a voting record that is unfathomable and I believe if you read into him deeper than what the nightly news wants you to, that you will find your new choice for President in 2012 as well.

Oh and me? I’m just your average young man, hungry for liberty, who really believes his vote will change his country this time around.

That letter took me about 10 to 15 minutes to write.
