Ron Paul Most Competitive Against Obama in Latest Poll 9/15/11

LAKE JACKSON, Texas, Sep 15, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- In a new Reuters/Ipsos survey, 2012 Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul polls within striking distance of President Obama among registered voters.

"Our campaign has been gaining momentum for some time now, and this is yet another poll that clearly proves how competitive we are versus the President" said Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton. "Dr. Paul is gaining ground in poll after poll, affirming that people are looking for real change instead of the status quo they are being offered from the establishment."

These results come just a few weeks after a Rasmussen poll showed him within a percent of President Obama in a head-to-head matchup.

Another recent Gallup survey, conducted August 17-18, shows Paul only 2 points behind Obama in a general election match-up. In a similar head to head survey from last year done by Rasmussen, Paul actually drew a statistical dead heat with the President. And earlier this year in a survey by CNN, he did the best out of the other Republicans put up against Obama in a head-to-head poll.

LET US NOT FORGET THAT RON PAUL'S SUPPORT HAS NOT (AND I RE-ITERATE…. HAS NEVER) DECREASED SINCE MAY 2007.... ROMNEY AND PERRY RELY ON THE MANIPULATION OF THE MASSES TO KEEP THERE STATUS. WE HAVE THE TRUTH (OR SOMETHING CLOSE TO IT). PERIOD! RON PAUL'S CURRENT BASE HAS BEEN AT WORST 10+ PERCENT, AT BEST 15-16 PERSCNT (IF YOU WISH TO BELIEVE THE POLSTERS). WITH OVER ONE YEAR TO THE ELECTION A LOT OF SH!T IS GOING TO COME TO FLURITION. AS LONG AS EVERYONE STICKS TO EDUCATING AS MANY SANE PEOPLE AS THEY CAN, IN A POSITIVE WAY, WE WILL REACH OUR TIPPING POINT AT AROUND 17-18 PERCENT (5-10 STRAW POLLS FROM NOW). LADIES AND GENTELMEN, THIS IS THE TIME THAT WILL TRY OUR SOULS!!! WE OWE GREAT THANKS TO OUR PAST, BUT THIS REVOLUTION IS FOR OUR PROSTERITY!!!!!

~Good Night, And Good Luck~

I really hate to say this...

...but, if Dr. Paul does win the GOP nomination, expect to see something equivalent to the resurgence of the Bull Moose Party, ie, a spoiler entering the race, with MSM blessings, intended to ensure the general presidential election is won by Obama for the establishment.

Rick Perry's...

... ghost writer wrote an op-ed piece (under Perry's name) in this morning's neocon newspaper, Wall Street Journal, under the title, The US Must Support Israel at the UN. I love Israel and its people, but I don't subscribe to this doctrine fashionable among "evangelicals." (Go in to all the world and preach the gospel of Israel to every creature. Funny how these people assume that the God of Israel needs the help of the likes of Rick Perry to protect Israel. Such evangelical arrogance.) Back to my initial point. I know when Michigan joined the Union, January 26, 1937. Perry's Texas joined December 29, 1845. But, pray tell, when did Israel join the Union?

I just don't know...

All I can do is hope and vote for Ron Paul to be our next president. It is very difficult for me to be optimistic however. Thinking about recent history... Clinton was a draft dodger who was elected commander and chief of the military. GW Shrub was dumber than a box of rocks and attacked a Iraq just because it was there, and now Nobama believes he can spend his way out of debt. When that isn't working his solution is to spend even more. This doesn't give me much faith in the voting public of America. The scary thing is that with the exception of Ron Paul in 2008 who I voted for as a write in, the other candidate has not been any better. There really is only one dominant party... the republicrats. When Ross Perot got 20% of the vote against Clinton and I don't remember who the other candidate was they wouldn't let him debate when Clinton was re-elected. I think Ross Perot had the wrong campaign strategy. He should have bought FOX, NBC, CNN, ABC and every other media outlet and forced his point of view. If they wouldn't let him in the debate he wouldn't broadcast it.

Even more weird...

RealClearPolitics is showing Obama's number against Romney as 48 instead of 49...

I began to get suspicious

when there was no link to the poll specifics. There's no excuse for the campaign not providing links to supporting data

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

This isn't from the campaign.

Posts on the Daily Paul are not direct communications from the campaign. Nowhere in the article did the campaign say that Ron Paul was the MOST competitive against Obama. The author of the article created that title.

Yeah, bad move

telling us Paul in the lead when Romney is up a point.

Trust me, our enemies WILL pounce on this if a retraction isn't issued ASAP!

How about "Ron Paul Among the Most Competitive

Against Obama in Latest Poll 9/15/11"

That'll be factual :-)

Error in Interpretation of Poll Data

The headline: "Ron Paul Most Competitive Against Obama in Latest Poll 9/15/1" is inconsistent with the press release and the poll data. Among registered voters, Obama polls 49% and Paul 42% whereas Obama polls 49% against Romney's 43%. This needs to be corrected. Actually, Paul was much closer to Obama in the earlier poll.

Why do Romney's numbers equal 101%?

(under registered voters)
Romney: 49 43 2 4 3 = 101%
Dr. Paul: 49 42 2 4 3 = 100%

1st number-Obama
2nd number-Republican candidate
3rd- Won't vote
4th- None/Other
5th- Don't know

Roundoff error.

With 100% divided among five categories and rounded to the nearest percent, the sum could run from 96% to 104%, though it will typically be between 99 and 101.

= = = =
"Obama’s Economists: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job."

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

Dead people vote, why

Dead people vote, why shouldn't they be allowed to participate in polls too?

More importantly...

We need to be clear in what we say. The 49% is for Obama not for the Republican candidate.

I noticed that too. Perhaps

I noticed that too. Perhaps some of the percents were higher enough to round up? Either way 101% in a poll is misleading and needs to be questioned.

Polls

Never take too much stock in these polls. Remember that many of these polls are people voting R or D based on party affiliation alone. If the Democrats knew where RP stood on issues like the drug war, foreign wars, and patriot act he would probably pull 5-7% away from Obama and maybe more. Of course he could lose a similar amount of Republicans if they are the kind that are thirsty for war and dont care who wages it.

Deceptive Headline: Should be changed.

I hate it when others Spin (ie lie), we should not do that. The link clearly shows the following among registered voters. According this survey at this time and date, Mitt is "the most competitive against Obama".

What I like about us is that we always call a spade a spade: We don't spin and we don't lie. Lets keep it straight.

49 Obama, 43 Mitt
49 Obama, 42 Paul
50 Obama, 42 Perry.

How could Obama get that much support?

Does not make sense given his disapproval numbers.

I was confused looking at the poll

as well that i didnt think it reconciled with the tagline.

if more Red voters had been polled both ron and perry would have probably jumped ahead of mitt.

i really dont think mitt can pass the muster of the voters in the south and the midwest.

and perry might be the rallying cry obama dems need to beat the GOP. who really knows at this point.

these polls arent really worth much imo

It's not surprising. The

That's what I'm talking about

That's what I'm talking about BABY!

First they ignore, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win!

We still need delegates to seal the deal even if he wins the nomination.

This Should Be A Wake Up Call To Republican Leadership!

I have been saying this on social media sites for the last two months. If the republican leadership wants to win this election, they should get behind Ron Paul. If they want to lose this election, they should continue to try and marginalize him. All they are doing is confusing the public at large. Romney hasn't got a chance in the South because of his Mormon roots, Perry is of such compromised character, even if his campaign holds up in the primaries, the Democrats (and the media) will have a field day with his record in the general election.
Ron Paul is the guy!
Worse yet, if Ron Paul decided to run as a Libertarian, if the Republicans forced him out - He would decimate Republicans chances in the general election. The Republican leadership needs to circle the wagons and come to some agreement of what is their best approach into caucus and primary season because the current course is surefire disaster for the party.

So far the evidence suggests

they want to lose....(Stay tuned to this site for further developments)

that's what I told them

I just sent my local GOP a message asking them if they are in fact TRYING to lose the election.

Little things like this are how I can tell that there in fact IS a global conspiracy which likely emanates from agents of darkness in groups such as the Council on Foreign Relations, The Trilateral Group, The Committee of 300, whatever the latest false-front for The Club of Rome is called, and some kind of darkness which rules above those groups.

I'm no longer cautious about topics such as world government front groups, ongoing crypto-eugenics, and other vast evil conspiracies which are very very real indeed.

Awesome

The best part about this is the demographic surveyed. If you read the poll PDF, the demographic surveyed leans 48-39 percent Democrat, with the rest being independents of some variety. And Paul still would capture 42 percent of that vote? Awesome.

Blessed are the peacemakers, but elected are the war hawks.

Here's the article from Reuters:

And here's a graphic of the results:
http://pdf.reuters.com/pdfnews/pdfnews.asp?i=43059c3bf0e3754...

Note Ron Paul polls better than Perry against Obama, yet the article only mentions Romney and Perry. Big surprise.

Let's blast the comment section and point this out!!!

"Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth." - George Washington

Am I reading this wrong ?

It still seems to me that he's equal or one point behind Perry and Romney among republican voters. And 1 and 3 points behind Huntsman and Bachmann respectively among all voters.

the pdf shows

the pdf shows mitt romney and ron paul as the two that do strongest against obama. but obama still leads.

but the rest of the candidates, including perry expand obamas lead.

this is among registered voters.

obama romney
49 43

obama paul
49 42

obama huntsman
51 37

obama bachman
54 36

obama perry
51 39

.....so romney and paul do the best against obama. i am guessing that the poll just measures popular vote, assuming that much of obama's apparent lead will shrink due to electoral vote... but still you want the closest candidate to obama taking his best shot.

romney stands for plain jane vanilla safe version of "anybody but obama"

paul stands for liberty.
