Can't find Dr. Paul's view on this one issue. Can someone help?

Now this is my first post here on Dailypaul. But been a Ron Paul follower since 2007 or so. Please be easy on me. It's even my first forum... ever. So who knows if I'm even doing this right. lol

Instead of making this long and me acting like i have a lot to say I will keep this short.

What is Dr. Paul's stance on Private Prisons? Can you please direct me to a video on where he talks about it? Can't find anything.

A word of encouragement...

Just wanted to encourage all Ron Paul supporters out there. We are by far the most loyal group that has ever graced the american presidency. I love the fact that Ron Paul supporters are so in tune with the issues and they stand ready to intelligently debate any given topic. This has not only been an eye-opening experience for me, but I love the fact that we are in a postition to help educate the masses. Don't give up... keep on keeping on. Fight the good fight!

Welcome to active part of the DailyPaul!
I'm also part of the movement since late summer'07, but most of the time I have only been a passive part of the DailyPaul.

To your question: I have seen thousands of RP-videos, but I have to admit... I have no idea!

Personally I am not of fan of private prisons.
I belive in almost all of the cases it's not a federal issue and in the few ones that are federal, I think he would say, the justice system with its prisons is a legitimate function for government.
But I am not sure AT ALL

I don't recall a discussion of this. As a

minarchist, perhaps Dr. Paul would think a federal prison system appropriate for the very few valid federal crimes? Or the state systems for violent non-federal crime? I'd think his main position would be that we would need far far fewer prisons, with all laws against non-violent behavior eliminated.

Doctor Paul is a libertarian minarchist, which means...

He should be against it. Prisons are a policing function, and thus it is one of the real jobs or functions that government SHOULD be doing.

Libertarian minarchists believe that the proper function of government is Police, Courts, and Defense. Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman were also libertarian minarchists who saw a proper moral function for government, protecting the individual rights of life and property.

But I am guessing. Just like you, I have not heard or read his comments on this.
