Good effort, but (a) I don't believe it and (b) half of the Beatles are still around; if this guy really believes what he says here, he should contact them and ask.

Now, if he changed "would" to "should", I'd be right there with him. ;-)

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

George Harrison and the "Taxman"

"Written by George after he realized he'd been catapulted into Britain's notorious highest tax bracket - one in which he was expected to give back 95 percent of his earnings - "Taxman" was the Beatles' strongest rocker to date, and also their first overt political statement. Indeed, Harold Wilson, then Prime Minister of Britain, and conservative opposition leader Edward Heath are mentioned by name, albeit in the background vocals." http://oldies.about.com/od/thebeatlessongs/a/taxman.htm

"I had discovered I was paying a huge amount of money to the taxman. You are so happy that you've finally started earning money - and then you find out about tax. In those days we paid 19 shillings and sixpence [96p] out of every pound, and with supertax and surtax and tax-tax it was ridiculous - a heavy penalty to pay for making money. That was a big turn-off for Britain. Anybody who ever made any money moved to America or somewhere else."

"Taxman' was when I first realized that even though we had started earning money, we were actually giving most of it away in taxes. It was and still is topical." 1980

would Martin Luther King, Ghandhi and every other freedom loving human

to think of it, Jesus Christ would support Ron Paul

That reminds me.

"Some years ago, noted philosopher Ringo Starr described an important and now-famous discovery: "Everything government touches turns to crap."
