I sent this link about Ron's car to Mrs. Paul, & here is her response:

Did you know your car was being discussed, Carol?

Scroll thru these & you'll see your Buick - sheesh!

They had a little fun. We do have an old Buick in DC but it is only run from our condo to the Capital. They should have put in that we have the old Chevy Chevette that Ron bought in 78 that made the papers all over the U.S. when it had a picture of the Chevette next to Speaker Tip O'Neils gas guzzling limo. We have always bought American.

The Chevette is called the "green pea" as it is painted a kind of green pea color. Ron drove it to work at the Capital in the late 70's. Our youngest daughter took it to college and then it has retired. Ron threatens to get rid of it all the time but it is an historic piece of history as far as I'm concerned. It is definitely a conversation piece. Carol (It is more fun than to talk about the old Buick, now I would get rid of that one, but Ron insists it gets him back and forth to the Capital.

The swipe at Michelle

The swipe at Michelle Bachmann with regards to the HPV vaccine is sickening... WTF is wrong with these people? This vaccine issue is the most intelligent and important thing Michelle has ever said. Her honesty and guts with this issue has made me like her a little a bit. It's scary people think that the issue is a joke and I'm scared for the future.....

so the Pauls drive the same

so the Pauls drive the same car (96 Buick) as my mom? Cool.

I drive the same car (Mustang GT) as Romney? Not cool.

For the record...

They claim that that Newt's first car was a '62 Barracuda. There's no such thing. First Barracuda was a '64.

Some Ron Paul people are Mopar fans. (Who would have guessed?)

Carolyn Karger sent me this link

to send to Mrs. Paul of her Ron Paul song.

Have you heard it? It's GREAT!

Ausscyn - you are a sweetie!

Thank you so much! Yes, the Daily Paul was the first place I posted it: http://www.dailypaul.com/175426/new-song-for-ron-paul-need-h...

And our Nui and Flynndidy did me the incredible honor of using the song in videos, too! Here they are:

Carol is soooo sweet!

I talked to her alone once and asked her to sign my purse (a plain light blue leather} She dug into her purse for a slim tip felt pen and said that would work well "but I don't want to ruin your purse!" I cherish that purse, she made it priceless.

Chevette

Ron Paul drove a Chevette? Isn't that the one Ralph Nader said was "unsafe at any speed"? Wonder if they ever had a discussion about it. I drove an explodable Pinto myself.

Yep, it was!...

The Chevy Corvair.
But @ 21 of us crammed into one in the early 70's and made it to jr high. So much for seat belt laws and Ralph Nader;-)
I'm dating myself here, but so what.

Every year they made them

Every year they made them I ended up with six or seven each summer.Corvairs,Mazda rotaries and Chevy Chevette. All of them just flat blew up at 100 degrees Fahrenheit. They were designed from an engineering standpoint to do this.

The worst was the Chevette,Cast iron head and an aluminum block,When they got hot the block warped rather than the head and had to be replaced. It was a set up!

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

I thought that was the Ford

I thought that was the Ford Pinto that Nader was badmouthing.

Freedom Wins!

Did you change...

...the points a lot on your Pinto? Mine ate 'em.

That's a CORVAIR!

Sheesh - how old are you? :0)

Yes

Nadar killed the Corvair.

Remember the phrase "Nader's raiders"?

"Unsafe at any speed" referred to all cars.

The corvair needed to go

Along with the Mazda Rotary!,Done deal!LOL! I hate it when "Junk" comes off the assembly line as "New Junk"

I wonder?

I wonder if they would allow some of us here from the DP to make it bullet proof and drop a 600hp V8 in it to make it out run every limo in the country?,LOL!

I drive an 89 D-100 pick up truck.

it is just about to roll over 300K on the original engine and tranny. for it's "birthday" I just installed headers, dual cats, true dual exhaust, with an "X" pipe in the muffler.
it is OBD I, TBI. the oxygen sensor is now in the header collector, it only has one.
for a "2 barrel" it really runs good now. but.
I am getting a soft code that it is running rich....SBEC code 52.
can you help me? the "smog" pump is gone of course, but I think it will pass even the cali sniff test.
I plan to visit you the next time I am out that way. I look forward to it.

Hey,HVAC I was thinking about you man

So we only need to dump the oil,Vacuum the system, put in a new drier and refill with 134 to get the A/C on line right?,LOL! Really!, A compressor is a compressor right? What ever it takes to get Ron on line with this hot rod !

I will email you my friend and put my computer to work with your codes to find a solution for why it running rich.

I can bet that the down side OX sensor is now running too cool. This would call up a differential variable above parameters for the "Smog" code installed into your Flash bios,It is telling the computer that you have an exhaust leak somewhere before or right after the Cat, but somewhere ahead of the downside OX sensor.Ca would never allow this!,LOL!

This is common with an after market installed exhaust system and can be reflashed with a computer hook up to change the variables between the upside and downside OX sensors man,No problem. I will catch up with you for the details as to how to have this done my friend.

it runs really great. smooth and more powerful, for what it is.

it only has one o2 sensor. it is heated. but I think you are right. I am thinking to wrap the headers. or, to install an o2 sensor that was designed for a pipe installation, instead of a manifold installation.
I might get it tested, the next time I am in cali, just for shitz and giggles.
I look forward to visiting with you.
no, don't use 134a for anything, use "hotshot" 414b, made by icor. 134a sux.
trust me.

HVAC?

Yes sir you are on the right track man,Double wrap them with racing insulation and it will bring up the temp of the one OX sensor to acceptable parameters for the computer.

I look forward to catching up with you also my friend,I have your email and will give you a phone nunber so that you can let me know you are heeded my way. BBQ and beers are on me my friend.

we are talking Atari here, my friend!

this computer is a dinosaur!
my advice for 134a, was only for retrofit applications, just to be clear, classic cars and such. anything originally designed for r-12.
anymore, 134a, is only used for small domestic appliances and cars. it has a tendency to create wax or something.
it is no longer used in commercial equipment.

Yep!

I was only talking a retrofit for an old R12 system,I remember when they made you replace everything including the Evaporator and Condenser. A friend of mine that owns a Jag shop in Hollywood told me to just vacuum out the oil and refill it with the 134a!.

This actually worked very well for about three years and then the dryer would have to be replaced but the rest of the system was good to go!,LOL! we still have systems working fine after about? Mmmm, 12-15 years I guess.

From the very start I had to ask if the Condenser and Evaporator even had an understanding of what their function truly was? LOL! I guess you only have to be smarter than the rock you plan to make a tool of? LOL!

I would pay in on a chip-in for this!

(can't do much, but would love to help with this).

I'm was just glad to hear some personal stuff

about her family. I've talked with her too, about Ron's suits & ties & she's been very friendly. BTW, they work very hard on what Ron wears, and do coach him to smile & not scowl.

i have too

She is a super sweet person. Its as genuine as Ron is honest.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

It's kind of appalling that

It's kind of appalling that AOL puts a negative spin on Ron driving the 96 Buick...like he is stuck in the dark ages or something.
The message that should be conveyed is that it is OK to pay for something and continue to get your money's worth for as long as possible. You don't have to keep yourself in debt and beholden to the banks by trying to keep up with your neighbors shiny new vehicles.
Besides, a new automobile is the worst investment on the planet, excluding buying a new boat.

Consumerism society.

Sad - and sick. I love old cars. I like to keep my car as long as humanly possible. I had a used baby blue 1970's monte carlo when I was young - it was a BOAT!! If I could be riding it around today, I would be. Who knew cars would never be like that again. :(
P.S. Ron Paul is so cool.

My thoughts exactly
