That health department official is a LIAR and a KOOK
California should start by firing his ass and the whole worthless department.
What has been proven in clinical trial that the FDA/USDA Food Pyramid is causing heart disease, obesity and diabetes which is why those diseases have been increasing since it was established.
One hundred years ago heart disease, obesity and diabetes were rare killers.

I'd like a side order of the 14th Amendment with my bacon dog.
U.S. Constitution - 5th Amendment (Applicable to the Federal Government)
No person shall... be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law...
U.S. Constitution - 14th Amendment (Applicable to the State Governments)
...nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law...

woman: "...everything they had, they threw it in the trash."
Carey: "We saw it ourselves. The cops confiscated these carts. The dogs were dumped. And then the carts tossed into the garbage truck."
It looks as if these cops who took an oath to preserve, protected and defend The United States Constitution decided to throw out The Due Process Clause, as well.
U.S. CODE > TITLE 42 > CHAPTER 21 > SUBCHAPTER I > § 1983 -
CIVIL ACTION FOR DEPRIVATION OF RIGHTS
Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District of Columbia, subjects, or causes to be subjected, any citizen of the United States or other person within the jurisdiction thereof to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be liable to the party injured in an action at law, suit in equity, or other proper proceeding for redress, except that in any action brought against a judicial officer for an act or omission taken in such officer’s judicial capacity, injunctive relief shall not be granted unless a declaratory decree was violated or declaratory relief was unavailable. For the purposes of this section, any Act of Congress applicable exclusively to the District of Columbia shall be considered to be a statute of the District of Columbia.

Good review
Thanks Jay.

What if we file a civil suit
What if we file a civil suit against the man responsible for the law which has ruined her life and business?
There's absolutely no evidence to suggest someone got sick off these damn dogs, but there IS evidence someone's financial life is on the verge of being ruined because of stupid legislation.
I wonder if we (as a society) should not go (even personally) after the ORIGINATOR of these stupid rules?
Call it, operation BLOW BACK.

Don't Forget the Girl Scout Cookies!!!
I'm pretty sure that I saw at least a couple of boxes of Girl Scout cookies on her cart, as well. She'll need a 4th permit for those, and then a fifth permit in order to obtain the 4th permit. But then that will negate her 3rd permit which will require a 6th permit plus additional taxes on that permit and then... oh never mind!
I feel so safe now
I feel so safe now knowing I am protected from
1. Illegal wood on a guitar I might buy.
2. Bacon Dogs...sounds horrifically dangerous
I do not think I will be able to sleep tonight I am so scared of bacon.
Please delete my account Due to Mr.Nystom rewriting one of my post under my name.
And then everyone is so
And then everyone is so confused and can't understand when a bureaucrat gets his head blown off. lol
I'll remember this.
We tolerate human rights abuses in our jails because the public thinks that people in jail deserve what happens to them. This will make an excellent counterpoint.
A great, easy-to-understand,
A great, easy-to-understand, piece on how supposed well-meaning government regulations do more harm than good.
- putting a non-violent person in jail (for selling bacon on dogs)
- government deciding it knows how to keep people healthy
- essentially forcing her to buy a fancy new cart if she wants to sell bacon (Hmmm.. which company makes that, and did they serve in Perry's Texas government?
- Customers go to the vendors without a license and permits (black market bacon dogs), creating the Al Capone's of bacon-dog world.
- Hurts bacon producers (yes, only slightly, but multiply this by 1,000,000 with federal regulations).
Incidentally, health department, there is a more effect, cheaper, and freedom-based way to regulate the dog vendors. If customers get sick eating a bacon-dog from a vendor, THEY WON'T GO BACK!!! And they'll probably put it on Yelp, letting others know that they got sick there.
Dumb Dumb Dumb
Good job Drew Carey!
"black market bacon dogs"
The absurdity of that alone proves the government is wrong.
Awww man
Now I have to go to the store for hot dogs, buns, and bacon. Luckily my collection of storable food contains scores of cans of Rotel and jalapenos.
Excellent piece by Drew Carey!
I feel sad for the lady he interviewed. It's so unfair.
