  • 69% say they have little or no confidence in the legislative branch of government, an all-time high and up from 63% in 2010.
  • 57% have little or no confidence in the federal government to solve domestic problems, exceeding the previous high of 53% recorded in 2010 and well exceeding the 43% who have little or no confidence in the government to solve international problems.
  • 53% have little or no confidence in the men and women who seek or hold elected office.
  • Americans believe, on average, that the federal government wastes 51 cents of every tax dollar, similar to a year ago, but up significantly from 46 cents a decade ago and from an average 43 cents three decades ago.
  • 49% of Americans believe the federal government has become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. In 2003, less than a third (30%) believed this.

"In the long run there is no such thing as an unpopular government." -- Ludwig von Mises

Liquidate the State.

Restore America Now

More reason to capitalize on the campaign slogan, Restore America.

I have never heard Ron Paul even say these words. But it is his campaign slogan. It's a good one. Use it.

I wonder if all these people

I wonder if all these people are considered "potential terrorists" by our number one terrorist.

And yet Congress will still get re-elected at a 90%+ rate.

Because come election day, too many of these disgruntled people will pull the lever with one eye shut because they think they are voting "against" the other guy rather than FOR the one they pick.

Being awake is one thing.

Translating consciousness to intelligence is quite another.

Americans are starting to

Americans are starting to wake up.

This is the "Perfect Storm"

I've believed that this is the "perfect Storm" for Ron Paul and his message of minimal government.

If so few have faith in government, who should be voted to be the next president?

If so many believe Big Government is bad, who should be elected?

If the dollar is weak right now, who knows how to strengthen it?

Who has a track record of being forthright and honest with the American people?

Who has a track record of standing opposed to Corporatism and fighting for individual rights?

Who believes that the Holy Bible and the U.S. Constitution are the two writings you need to know and embrace as an American?

We know the answer. It's time the rest of this country knows it.

Yeah, and the other half were

Yeah, and the other half were too afraid to say anything!

You beat me to it! ;-)

508 out of 1017 admitted feeling bad, via phone interview.

Vote! Ron Paul, 2012

Happy, happier, or happiest? No matter.

Vote for more freedom, sound money. Less war. Less Federal government. If one likes government, like it locally. Get involved.

US Census vs Gallop Poll: Who you gonna believe?

The overwhelming majority had no comment.

312,302,118 - 508 negative responses = 312,301,618

In an age when results on opinions from billions may be gathered in a second, how relevant is a Gallop telephone poll?

Telegraph operators where not even contacted.

Only 28% of Democrats see the Federal Govt. as posing........

........an immediate threat to individual rights and freedoms. Where do all these people live? Oh, yeah, Universities and California.

40% of Americans think Obama

40% of Americans think Obama is a Muslim.

30% think he was born in Kenya.

Over half of all Republicans think that slavery "wasn't a major reason" for the civil war.

98% of tea partiers believe that Obama has raised taxes.

51% of Americans believe that the Patriot Act is good.

60% of Americans believe that marijuana should be banned federally.

28% of Americans are for DADT (against the repeal of).

The majority of Americans are against gay marriage (for civil unions, but against gay marriage) and adoptions by gays.

Where do those people live? In trailer parks and the South.

Forcing YOUR will on another

far out wheighs the burden of believeing and thinking.
It is all liberal force in recent years. So where do you stand?

Don't know where Obama was born, I was not there. You?

Don't know what Obama's religion is. He never told me.

Would not surprise me to find out Obama was born in Kenya. Again, I was not an eye-witness to his birth. Were you? Eye-witness testimony places him in both Hawaii and Kenya. That is if you believe his maternal grandmother in Kenya, or the people who keep getting caught publishing fake birth certificates in Hawaii. Personally I could care less where he was born, Obama is incompetent and/or criminal.

Slavery was a partial cause of the American civil war, but so were State rights, and economics.

If you count inflation as a tax, then yes, Obama has raised taxes.

Many people trade freedom for a false sense of security. Are they more secure? No, but they don't realize that.

The federal govt. should have nothing to say about marijuana.

Because a minority of people are for DADT that is a reason to hold it against most Republicans?

If gay people are stupid enough to want to marry, God help them. Let them suffer like the rest.

The majority of Republicans don't inhabit trailer parks, or the south.

Response

"Don't know what Obama's religion is. He never told me."

Get your hearing checked. He has affirmed many times that he is a Christian who went to church for 20+ years.

"Again, I was not an eye-witness to his birth. Were you?"

So unless you see something first-hand, it isn't true?

"Eye-witness testimony places him in both Hawaii and Kenya."

Where is the testimony of him being in Kenya? I hope you are not talking about the fradulent interview with his grandmother.

"or the people who keep getting caught publishing fake birth certificates in Hawaii".

Fake? Really? Are you an expert? Because unless you have personally verified it being fake, how do you know its fake? Sarcasnm, btw.

"Slavery was a partial cause of the American civil war, but so were State rights, and economics."

Slavery was a major cause of the civil war. That is what is being denied by the majority of Republicans. There were other causes, but slavery was at the forefront.

"If you count inflation as a tax, then yes, Obama has raised taxes."

As a % of GDP, Obama has lowered taxes. And these people weren't talking about something as nuanced as an inflaiton tax, most likely. They were talking about the tax rate, which Obama has temporarily lowered.

"Many people trade freedom for a false sense of security. Are they more secure? No, but they don't realize that."

That is my point. That the American people are far from being where one hopes they would be.

"The federal govt. should have nothing to say about marijuana. "

Yet the majority of American people, who apparently do not trust the federal government, disagree.

"Because a minority of people are for DADT that is a reason to hold it against most Republicans?"

Well, the original poster was holding the 28% against most Democrats!

"If gay people are stupid enough to want to marry, God help them. Let them suffer like the rest."

Amen to that!

"The majority of Republicans don't inhabit trailer parks, or the south."

Did you read the post I was quoting? I was being as ridiculous and stereotyping as he was.

History books are written by the winners

"Slavery was a major cause of the civil war. That is what is being denied by the majority of Republicans. There were other causes, but slavery was at the forefront."

I will take a guess and say that you were educated under the federal Department of Education's guidelines.

Economic issues were the main reason for the discourse. Ending slavery without compensation was the final straw. (See South Carolina's declaration of secession.) Corporate crony capitalism was alive and well in the mid 1800's too. Do not forget that the North had LEGALIZED SLAVERY, in the companies owning the housing, doctors, food etc. Every worker was so indebted to the company, they had to send their young children to work to pay the bills. Not all but many of the slaves in the South were treated better than the workers in the North.

The mills were located in the North and needed the South's cotton. The Northern Congress members imposed a stiff tariff on all exported cotton along with stiff tariffs for any imported cloth. The railways charged absorbent shipping costs for any steel going to the South, to prevent the South from building their own mills. The South's only market for their raw cotton was the Northern mills, who paid very little for the cotton and charged a fortune for a bolt of cloth.

The last straw was when the Northern Congress members wanted to end slavery in the South. While Maine fishermen were reimbursed for their boats lost in the hurricane (FEMA back then?), the Southerns would receive nothing (see So Carolina).

Looks to me that the Northern corporations wanted to bankrupt the Southern plantation owners. Pinning it on slavery gave the Northern workers the incentive to kill their Southern brothers. Great way to manipulate the masses to achieve your goal.

BTW, I'm not a Republican, not advocating slavery, not a racist and not a Southern. My ancestors were in the wild west territory during the civil war.

Too much LAW is always

an abomination to ANY people.
God Jehovah preferres GRACE and MERCY.
WAR and Death is satan's thingy. Jahad and unbelievers promote same.

America fights wars that are not her's. Christians do not support unbelief. If a people do not promote and REVEAL CHRIST to the world they deceive themselves with a lie.

To promote LAW to prominance, is to go against Christ.
Think for yourselves what this entails, for in it is the deception of all time. And yes, Israel has many unbelievers as do all other Nations.

When GRACE and Mercy trump the Law, the legalists loose their prominance. They like the top seat.

It doesn't prove much. The

It doesn't prove much.

The Patriot Act still enjoys a majority support amongst the American people.

The vast majority of Americans support greater government involvement in healthcare, including a public option.

The vast majority of Americans want government to attack the banks with a sledgehammer.

A vast majority of Americans want Congress to be throwing a lot more people in jail.

A vast majority of Americans are against the war.

A vast majority of Americans want to increase taxes on the rich and corporations.

Etc., etc. But none of that ever happens. Until Congress is no longer bought and paid for, what the American people want does not matter.

Actuall proof

That We are Awakening.

also interesting that about the same amount live on entitlements.

The use of the word; (entitlements)

is fraudulant. It is an MSM term ,for what they stole.
The correct term is; TRUST FUND. A fund that funded the government till now. GET your facts and wording correct. THANKS.

Your famous President Clinton was the first to use the FUND to balance an otherwise DEBT economy. MY eyes are open please open yours . THANKS. The lockbox never got locked. Thanks to 9/11. 9/11 that now funds the government. Executive order.

This is not personal but relative to the hearer.

Government has been stealing

Government has been stealing from the trust fund since Eisenhower.

It is the great theft of this century, really. Had government paid real interest on the borrowed money, the SS trust would be much larger today.

Try FDR

The first social security payroll taxes collected were used to pay off the non-US-owned war bonds by FDR. It has never been in a locked box and is included as part of the annual revenue.

Another good find!

Last paragraph of a good article!

Bottom Line

Americans' various ratings of political leadership in Washington add up to a profoundly negative review of government -- something that would seem unhealthy for the country to endure for an extended period. Nevertheless, with another budget showdown looking inevitable and a contentious presidential election year getting underway, it appears the ratings reviewed here could get worse before they improve.
