Two first-hand reports from peopleSubmitted by CallMeAnn on Wed, 09/28/2011 - 02:30
Hello, all. I have a friend who has been working in Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries for quite a while, running specialty tours for people from all over the world. This is a man I've known since we were in the eighth grade, and that was in '73-'74, so I've known him a long time.
I wrote him via FB and asked whether, in his opinion, there was any truth to Dr. Paul's assertion that our nation's foreign policy was to blame for terrorist activity against our people and troops. He knows so many locals and has many long lasting friends in those regions and all over the world due to his repeated contacts from his travels. I made it clear I was only asking for first-hand info and was not seeking an endorsement, regardless of the answer. He answered me promptly, as he always does. He said Paul is right and also that he is the only candidate with the brains to understand and the cojones to say it. He really made my day.
The other conversation I want to share was with a man from Israel who was selling jewelry that I was interested in. After choosing the bracelet I wanted, I offered him three slim-jim position cards from the campaign, and asked him if he was eligible to vote. He said he is, so we talked further. His first remark was about how honorable and consistent Dr. Paul is. As we talked, I got around to probing his opinion regarding US support $ for Israel. He agreed that Israel knows she needs to stand on her own and that if we would stop aiding all her enemies, it would amount to aiding Israel and that things would just go on as they always have and always will. He was very supportive of Dr. Paul and we talked about many aspects of his campaign. The mall we were in is either in or bordering his district so many here know and love him.
Just thought y'all would enjoy these experiences with me.
