Any contacts in the firearms industry here?

Does anybody here work in the firearms business?
I have designed a very simple sub-machinegun, which I would like to sell to some gun company.

I spent the last 8 years

in the firearms manufacturing business, but I've recently left for a different line of work.
I have designed numerous machine gun systems, including a drop-in full-auto open bolt/semi-auto closed bolt select-fire control system for the M16 which fit in the standard receiver and used the stock cross pins.

You need to get your patent application in before you show anything to anybody.
If you haven't done your patent search yet, you may find your design has already been invented or patented. The previous art on machine gun systems is very deep, and it would really be unusual to have a machine gun design that isn't already covered by prior art.

Thank you

I can't afford the patent process right now, but I did get my design paper notarized for whatever good that will do.
I am hoping someone will be honest and purchase the design from me so I can afford things like Patents in the future.

Go to USPTO.gov

and do your own search. It's a wonderful tool.

If you just pay for a patent search

it is less costly, and then you can find out if you can actually patent your design first before you try to pay for filing a patent.
The notarization would help prove when you designed the thing, but it doesn't protect you unless you have a case where somebody saw your drawing and then tried to file a patent on your idea, and you had a lawsuit.
Many people are not aware how deep the patents are in something like machine guns, but I would be very surprised if you have something that hasn't already been done.
However, if you do have a new unique desigh that works, then you should get it protected and then see if you can sell it.
The other route would be to get a manufacturer's license from the BATFE and make them yourself.
